The front rocker and forward leaning heel cup is messing up shoes sizes(on multiple brands) . also for some reason brands thought wide fit means high volume fit, so they make the shoe upper "taller" which messes fit too. Different shoe has different fit too. Ghost 17 gtx 11 fits fine, but normal doesn't, then ghost max 3 fits fine again...

Heel cup slipping at times is not heel cup. It's the shoes not bending when new. Once broken in the heel cup should follow your heel. Max cushion shoes tend not to bend alot when new.
Brooks Ghost Goretex are properly waterproof. I have been out in some horrendous weather running a mixture of trails with some proper bog and tarmac. They aren't as cushioned as the Brooks glycerin that I normally favour and aware of that on the tarmac but fine on soft ground.
I respect the hot take but I also love my Brooks Ghost 17s. As a heavier runner (200 lbs), I can put about 500 miles on those and they don’t break the bank. I agree they get oversold but I love mine.
My nimbus also degraded very fast. I was getting shin splints and hamstring issues after only 200 miles in them. Switched to using them for walking and still got shin splint issues. Quite disappointed. No problems using my new Novablast 5, Ghost 17 or Evo SL, but I haven't even gone 10 miles on any of them yet, so fingers crossed.
Had to return my pair of Vomero Plus due to knee pain in both knees. I’m accustomed to the high drop in Nikes (though high drop is also known to transfer work from lower leg to knee-hip), but I’m lightweight and a heel striker, so my theory is that my legs were working too hard to stabilize that massive stack of bouncy foam, exacerbated by the fact that the Vomero Plus has no heel stability to speak of. Right now running in Ghost 17 and Vomero 18s, and so far so good. I suspect that high energy return foam is pretty hard on legs if not conditioned for it, and as a new runner, you wouldn’t be, so I’d suggest something a little more boring where you can just rack up miles till your body adjusts. YMMV. Good luck and welcome back to running!
I have the ghost 17s for work and they are good for a about a couple of hours. By the 5 hour of my shift my heels are hurting lol
