I don’t know what mine were and I’m too afraid to ask but: I tried running and gave up. I loved the Ghost shoes that I bought in 2017. So I went to Rack Room and got them on sale when I picked it up again. My feet have shrunk significantly. I’m very happy.

I respect the hot take but I also love my Brooks Ghost 17s. As a heavier runner (200 lbs), I can put about 500 miles on those and they don’t break the bank. I agree they get oversold but I love mine

My nimbus also degraded very fast. I was getting shin splints and hamstring issues after only 200 miles in them. Switched to using them for walking and still got shin splint issues. Quite disappointed. No problems using my new Novablast 5, Ghost 17 or Evo SL, but I haven't even gone 10 miles on any of them yet, so fingers crossed.

Had to return my pair of Vomero Plus due to knee pain in both knees. I’m accustomed to the high drop in Nikes (though high drop is also known to transfer work from lower leg to knee-hip), but I’m lightweight and a heel striker, so my theory is that my legs were working too hard to stabilize that massive stack of bouncy foam, exacerbated by the fact that the Vomero Plus has no heel stability to speak of. Right now running in Ghost 17 and Vomero 18s, and so far so good. I suspect that high energy return foam is pretty hard on legs if not conditioned for it, and as a new runner, you wouldn’t be, so I’d suggest something a little more boring where you can just rack up miles till your body adjusts. YMMV. Good luck and welcome back to running!

I have the ghost 17s for work and they are good for a about a couple of hours. By the 5 hour of my shift my heels are hurting lol

Different lengths here as well, right is shorter, which, over time, left me with a very high pronation on the foot of the shorter leg. Got a visit and I got custom made insoles, which I use on every pair of shoes I own, with different height to compensate for the different length. Since proning is a very strong pain in the ass for me, I have to avoid soft shoes and just recently got a pair of brooks ghost 17: I've never felt so stable running; I would suggest you try them.

One pair of trail shoes Saucony Peregrines.  Workout/race day Endorphin Speed 4 and a new pair of Endorphin Speed 5 waiting in the wings when the Speed 4 kicks the bucket.  Daily trainer Ride 18 and Ghost 17.  Had the Ghost first, not exactly what I wanted, then fell in love with Ride.  I use the Rides a lot, the Ghosts more if bad weather (very secure traction in wet weather).  Hurricane 25 for recovery or easy days.

I have had Ghost ever since the Ghost 10 Just got the 17s (online, I should have tried them in the store).  Good toebox and comfortable,  but the heel has poor stability. I'm going to try lacing them tighter. For the first time in 10 years, I find the Ghost dissapointing. Probably still good for walking, not so much for the run...
