I have the Hyperion 1 GTS and it is amazing. Super fast and comfortable.
I have the first Hyperion GTS and it is a great shoe for sure. Super fast!
Pronation is not evil. I used to work in a specialty running shoe store and it killed me to see how much overprescribing of stability shoes was done. Based on the analysis tools used 95% of staff would probably put me in a stability shoe, but I have never had knee (or lower leg) pain relating to pronation so that is not required and I got given a Brooks Transcend as a kid which caused more issues than it would supposedly have solved. The only stability shoe I have ever owned as an adult is the Saucony Tempus and even then that is more of a guiding shoe with holistic support rather than the more traditional “lateral soft, medial firm” and I quite enjoy it. If you must go for stability then the Asics GT-2000 14 uses the same FF BLAST Max midsole with a mildly different geometry. Saucony Tempus (1 or 2) also is good, or you could also try the Brooks Hyperion GTS (1 or 2). All have lower stack. Tempus and GT-2000 are heavier than Novablast and slightly lower stack, with the Hyperion being quite noticeably lighter and lower stack than the Novablast which gives a more responsive feeling than any of the others.
Were you wearing the Brooks Launch GTS? Very different to just the Brooks Launch. In terms of the GTS version, the other Brooks shoes with similar support are Adrenaline GTS and Glycerin GTS, but they both fit differently. There was also the Hyperion GTS that has been discontinued, but I believe they were fairly similar fit to the Launch GTS and it's possible to find pairs still on sale in some sizes. As someone else has mentioned, New Balance 860 could also be a good option, they tend to run narrower than the Brooks Adrenalines. Asics also run narrow and have a few stability options.
Looking at run repeat right now. If you look at the reviews and then sort by arch support and only check stability there is 84 shoes and if I was in the market for shoes I would be purchasing the Brooks Hyperion GTS for $73
I used to have a BAD running shoe problem, I had like 25. I am now reformed but still have a lot apparently: *Hoka Mach 6 for everyday runs, I run part road part trail and these get gunked up every day, ugly lavender but muddied up which I love *Brooks Hyperion for everyday runs or short races (5k, 10k) -I was using this as dailys but I was gunking them on trails and I like them too much so I got the hokas above to destroy *Adidas Adizero Evo SL for road long runs (will use for my half marathons) -LOVE this shoe, cushy but speedy, makes me feel super fast *Hoka speedgoats for trail -I am meh about these, I prefer road shoes on trail, if I had more technical or slippery trails I would use these but other than that they just exist Vintage: *Adidas adizero adios boost, used to be my LD race shoes, they are like 10 years old and I refuse to give them up because they are old school undercushioned and fast *Mizuno hitogami also about 10 years old, proper racing flats supposedly for mid distance but I love them for short distance. Love love love how clicky they are, they go so fast Ok, nobody reading this but it warmed my heart to talk about my shoes, lol
Brooks Hyperion Tempo or Hyperion. Both fast, responsive and minimalist.
I own the regular Hyperion and I'd have to disagree. I think it's great for speed work on the track or grass which is what I use it for but it feels like a brick on the roads compared to what I'm looking for
Brooks Hyperion. Not the Max...the Hyperion. I adored the OG but the rebrand of it still has similar DNA.
There are lots of options, I went with the Brooks Hyperion, great lightweight shoe. I used them for my speed work as well
One pair trail hoka speedgoat, one pair brooks adrenalin for street training. + one pair brooks hyperion for faster interval runs and 5k events just for psychological speed :D
