Based on 1 year's data from Mar 23, 2026 How it works
Shoes can be super subjective, we all have different body’s and run different. A bunch of online reviewers and people I know praise the brooks Hyperion max, I bought a pair and absolutely hate them, my least favorite shoe and I have a bunch. Megablast is probably my top shoe right now but I know people that hate those lol.
I’ll probably get hate for this, but I’ve been really enjoying the Brooks Hyperion Max
Brooks hyperion max have a plate (not carbon fiber) which adds a bit more of a faster feeling, while not compromising support at all. The way somebody at fleet feet described to me was "you don't get the speed advantage that the carbon fiber plates provide from their energy return but you get the impact on the legs support because the plate does a better job of absorbing the blow' and that felt accurate when I wore them last year. That being said... I am giving the brooks Hyperion elite a try this year now that they have decent reviews. Running around a 310-315.
4 that I use. 2 Brooks Glycerin that I rotate for easy mileage, 1 Brooks Hyperion Max for fast stuff, and 1 pair of Vaporfly that I got almost 4 years ago. I usually only run 5ks because I have a meniscus injury and two little kids that make it hard to get up to high mileage so they have lasted a long time😅 Then I have one pair I should just retire because I never use them but they only have like 400 km..
I try them out in the store as much as I can, and I can't afford to not use a shoe after I bought it so I tend to stay with the same models I know work for me. Recently wanted to try a different brand, but after a few runs I just noticed that I don't "enjoy" running in them as much as I do my other shoes I guess? They are super trainers but with a fair bit of cushioning so I just demoted them to short easy run shoes, so at least I'll get some use out of them. So as far as my usual process. Try the new version of my usual model in store to see if sizing/fit changed. If all feels good, then they're probably good. My current rotation training mostly for road marathon/trail 50k's is brooks glycerin (easy), brooks hyperion max (tempo), and brooks catamount (trail). After this 50k training block I'm gonna do a 5k training block and I'll probably get the regular brooks hyperion for that. Not changing brands again haha

Evo sl, endorphin speed and pro shoes, Brooks hyperion for non plated wasn't bad.
If you like the compact firm/harsher ride of Hyperion Tempo 1 then you will probably like Hyperion Max 1, Hyperion 2. Hyperion Max 2 and Hyperion 3 are still harsh but a little easier on the legs. Hyperion Max 3 is very different from the rest. It is a very bulky and cushioned shoe
If you are looking for a tad more cushion and softness then 3 is better. If you like the non bulky ground feel firmness then 2 is what you want. Can’t go wrong with both though
Launch has been my daily runner since they stopped doing the PureConnect/PureCadence series. I did try a pair of Hyperion Max but it’s way too soft for me 🫤
I have a easy days shoe (ghost max), tempo runs (saucony tempus or Hyperion max) I use a hoka Arahi for long runs some times and then also have on rotation at the moment a pair of hoka rocket x2. I really only started learning more about shoes in the past year or so and have been trying different things to see what I enjoy and to reduce injuries. Check doctors of running if you want to learn more about shoes
Glycerin 21 is pretty heavy Ghost 17 is better Hyperion 2 is a really good and lightweight shoe, or you can find the Hyperion Max v1 which is basically the same shoe. New Launch 11 is also very similar to Hyperion 2 but it is a bit firmer
