I tried both and actually kept the Craft Xplor Pro with the Matryx upper. Loved it far more. Don't know why. The H1 wasn't bad but the Craft Xplor just worked for me. I also added the Craft Pacer 2 to my rotation. Love that one, too.

+1 for medium to high stack road shoes. I've been using a pair of Craft Pacers (road shoe) for my road to gravel. 300 miles in , and still in awesome shape. Outsole showing slight wear. 85% gravel/light trail. Plus I have a smooth rolling road shoe when needed for those paved only runs. Craft Pacer 2 (better upper) has just dropped. Cheapish ($140). Or, if you can find a used/on sale Puma Deviate Nitro 2 (old model). Something with a (mostly) full coverage outsole. Good luck.

Craft Pacer 2. Fantastic foam, got it for the exact same use case. Great shoe, doesn't get enough attention. First run impression is somewhere in my profile.
