Based on 1 year's data from Mar 23, 2026 How it works
Why don't you get the new Kipride Max and pair it with your 900x.2 or KipStorm Challenger as it's now called ;) It's the combo I'm using at the moment. Kipride Max for easy & long runs and the X2 for interval and tempo. The X2 is a so called "non aggressive" plated shoe as it's not super stiff. Do take note that the Max uses a new last so the sizing is different. I had to go up 0.5 from my usual 41 in Kiprun to a 41.5 for the Max. If not you could take a look at the normal KipRide as that's more of a daily trainer than a easy/long run shoe the Max is.
The KD900X.2 had a plate though. But I do love using it ( bit biased as I sell them )
I have those (on my second pair actually) and Vaporfly 4, honestly I think I slightly prefer the kd900x.2, I use them for tempos/intervals and some long runs, would race just fine with them. I just use the vaporfly for races because they were pricier.
I’m a 60kg runner with similar paces, I love the kiprun challenger (or kd900x.2 before the renaming). It has a carbon plate but also soft, if you go to a decathlon give it a try as well. I’m on my second pair, my first did 800km and already have a new pair still in the box that I’ve got on discount since it still had the kd900x naming.
I got mine from Australia, but in USA in March for $150
I haven't tried many but the Kiprun KD900X.2 was a shocker for me. Accessible plated shoe at 120/130 euro. Fast, very light (my US 9 is around 900g), comfortable at all paces. Maybe a tiny bit unstable in tight corners, but that's the only complaint I have. An absolute gem for that price. Other than that I'm enjoying the Nimbus 27 as always, but preferred the 26. I'm a Wave Rider aficionado but didn't dig the 28s. I actually think 27s were better
Get down to Decathlon and try out some of their runners to see what suits. The newish Kiprun Kipstorm models are their race day offerings. Prices have risen mind I have the Kiprun kd900x.2 which is a 2024/25 carbon plated shoe that i use for 5k and 10k races. It has been reviewed widely by shoe testers to generally positive reviews. As it is last year's model and being phased out, it is now as low £69.99
I've got two Kiprun shoes, one from last year's models, the carbon plated Kiprun KD900X.2, and one of this year's new shoes, the Kiprun Kipride Max I've ran my 5k PB in the Kiprun KD900X.2 and it is so comfortable underfoot to run in as a race shoe. The Kipride Max is Kiprun's max cushioned shoe for daily easy and long runs, and I've found it's good to run marathon pace too So in answer to your question, I'd say the brand is definitely on par with some shoes from the big boys in the last couple of years
I have the same shoes and problem, i never liked my nb5 🤣 But since you are already using kiprun kd900x.2, then you should use the kiprun kipcore for your daily runs and kipride max for lsd My current shoe rotation is ks900.2 when i need disciplined/form runs, kipcore for my easy days and kipride max for my lsds
I have a bunch of shirts and half-tights, they're fine. I've also got two pairs of Kiprun shoes. One is their KS 900 light, I use them exclusively for on my treadmill (basically so I don't get my belt filthy). They're great for that, but they also feel like they would perform well enough on simple runs. Nothing special though. The other pair is the KD900X.2. They're basically €100 carbon plates. I have no other experience with carbon plates and I only use these for the occasional tempo run or sprint training. But these feel fantastic, and decently made. I've had them for two months and haven't put tons of distance on them yet, but putting them through their paces has been a good time so far. For context, my every-day stompers have been NB 860’s since the dawn of existence because I have somewhat flimsy ankles. They last me 750-800 km a pair. I have no idea of the Kiprun shoes will last that long, but both pairs together cost about the same amount as one pair of NB's, so I won't judge them too harshly.
Kiprun KD900X.2 Heerlijke schoen met carbon voor een goede prijs
Im doing my 3rd marathon on Sunday & it will be my 2nd in Kiprun Carbon Plate KD900's (my 3rd pair of the same trainer). Theyre amazing at the price.
Im 47 (m) and on over 1500miles for 2025. Decathlon 'kiprun' have changed my life... unreal quality and best price in the market. I use Hoka GTX for winter runs but if its dry where you are, kiprun are unbeatable. Good luck
