I felt the same thing in wide Clifton 9s but after a while it breaks in it’s like they widened the toe box only . If you try a nova blast or super blast you’ll get the width you want IMO

Is it time to replace my shoes? My current pair of running shoes are Hoka Women's Clifton 9. I run 3x/week. Current mileage on them is 175.9 miles and I’m not experiencing bodily discomfort so far but I’m wondering about its wear and tear. I’ve read threads in this sub about changing shoes at about 500+ miles and sooner of course if you notice aches or pains. Do you think my shoes can take more? I plan on running a half in 4 weeks. https://imgur.com/a/OJpWd9I

You're my sole mate. Have three pairs of Clifton 9s (wide), and ordered a second pair of Mafate speed 4s when I realized there were not going to be a new gen of speeds (right now at least). 80km into my first Challengers (7 ATR, wide) which I really enjoy too.

Agree with other poster, go to a store that specializes in running shoes and have them help you find something that fits your feet. If you can afford it, but two different models from two different brands and feel your way towards what works for you. With that said, I have wide forefoot and have found Hoka wide versions to work well for me (Clifton 9s, Challenger 7 ATRs). Wide versions of Saucony Triumph 22s, New Balance Rebel 4s have also been great.

I was a Hoka lifer but they’ve gone so downhill. I only wear them due to plantar fasciitis. The last good Clifton was the 9’s and I doubt they’ll get better in the future. They use leather all the time now, it’s horrific. I’ve heard great things about Altra’s.

I have one pair of trail I use a couple times a year. I usually only wear one pair of road until I have an egregious number of miles on them (I’ve pushed two pairs to 700 miles). But I’ve been running more marathons and I like a fresh pair of shoes for each race, so I have one pair of hoka Clifton 8 that I don’t like that has 500 miles, a pair of Clifton 9 that has 370 miles from my spring marathon, and my current pair of Clifton 9 for my marathon next week that has about 100 miles. I also usually switch between Clifton and brooks glycerin, but Clifton’s have been serving me well for my PRs lately and I guess I’ve been hesitant to change (based on my last three pairs lol).

Two. Usually only one but I’ve upgraded recently. And since then, I like having two. One more cushioned pair of Asics Superblast, and a pair of Homa Clifton 9s. But I’m terrible in that I also wear my running shoes for walking, all the time. Don’t worry so much about what others do, do what works for you.

Yep everyone’s feet are different. So far, these are my favorite long run shoe that I have owned. We’ll see how I feel after 100 miles lol

I've read both stories about the Rebels, so maybe there was an inconsistency in manufacturing or humidity and heat make a difference. Mine have been great but I've mainly trained with them through the winter and spring with cooler temps. I ran a half marathon in March in the Rebel V4s and they were perfect even with a little over 200 miles on them. They are my go to shoe for most runs although I do rotate Hoka Skyward X and Clifton 9s for 2-3 hour runs. I'm 6' and weight about 195 lbs for comparison.

I have an On walking shoes specifically for walking (daily 5+ miles a day), and two Hoka Clifton 9s that I swap for runs 4x a week.
