I felt the same thing in wide Clifton 9s but after a while it breaks in itâs like they widened the toe box only . If you try a nova blast or super blast youâll get the width you want IMO
You're my sole mate. Have three pairs of Clifton 9s (wide), and ordered a second pair of Mafate speed 4s when I realized there were not going to be a new gen of speeds (right now at least). 80km into my first Challengers (7 ATR, wide) which I really enjoy too.
Pick up a pair of 9s on clearance discount.
Agree with other poster, go to a store that specializes in running shoes and have them help you find something that fits your feet. If you can afford it, but two different models from two different brands and feel your way towards what works for you. With that said, I have wide forefoot and have found Hoka wide versions to work well for me (Clifton 9s, Challenger 7 ATRs). Wide versions of Saucony Triumph 22s, New Balance Rebel 4s have also been great.
I was a Hoka lifer but theyâve gone so downhill. I only wear them due to plantar fasciitis. The last good Clifton was the 9âs and I doubt theyâll get better in the future. They use leather all the time now, itâs horrific. Iâve heard great things about Altraâs.
Hoka Clifton are amazing they have regular wide and 2E shoe for women .. get the 2E shoe if they are super wide.Â
Well youâre mischaracterizing the spirit of what Iâm trying to get across. Of course it matters what show youâre in 30 miles into a run (wouldnât want to be in vans) but the reality is the vast majority of runners in the world donât get to a point where theyâre 30 miles into a run, but many own multiple pairs of runners. Still, I could wear a pair of Cliftonâs for a 50 mile run and then for next weekâs hill sprints and they would be more than fine for both đ - and thatâs what Iâm saying
Completely agree. I ran in the Cliftonâs for years and if I went outside with them right now it would take everything I have to run a 9 minute mile and it would be 10 if I didnât give everything I had. , where I could go out and and run 6:45 in adidas pro 4 with everything I had and break 8 minutes without really trying That said I gotta give the Cliftonâs a lot of love. They made me fall in love with running. Brought me from a hobby jogger to being obsessive, but I canât run with those anchors tied to my feet anymore
Iâve run a few sub 4âa in Cliftonâs, but up until 9 months ago they are all I ran in for years and loved them. I canât even run in them anymore because they feel like running with anchors attached to my feet after trying some other shoes, both plated and not plated
Hi all, Iâm sure this has been asked quite a few times but can I please get some advice of what I should get for my shorter runs? Here's my profile: ⢠Frequency: 3 times a week At the moment it is 5-6 kmâs twice a week (mostly Monday and Wednesday) and then a longer run on the weekend. ⢠Total Volume: \~20-30km per week ⢠Workout Split: 1-2 tempo runs, 1 âeasyâ run. The two shorter runs are generally tempo runs but I tend to try to slow down the easy/long run. The long run isnât a pure Zone 2 run but I am working on trying to slow down. Think of it between a Zone 2 and a tempo. Long run is anywhere between 10 to 25 kmâs, with having two young kids means that the length of the run is dictated by time available. ⢠Pace: Fairly new runner, my pace is usually around \~5:15min/km for the tempo ones and 5:40ish for the longer ones. I havenât done any interval running but open to it if it can replace one of my shorter runs ⢠Weight: around 80-85 kg ⢠Current shoes: two pairs of ASICS Superblast 2âs. One is fairly new (probably around 50kâs done in them, bought about a month ago. The other has definite signs of wear and tear as it was my only running shoe for quite some time (done at least 2 marathons in them and countless half maras). Previous shoe I used before the Superblast 2âs was Hoka Clifton 9âs but I had bad blisters on both feet using them. I did size up but it seems with my readings that the Hokaâs have a narrow toe box. After a second pair of shoes to replace one of my two Superblast pairs. Was tempted to get the Novablast 5âs but seems rather mixed reviews on this sub. Happy to try other brands if it means no blisters (as in the shoe can accommodate wider feet)
I have one pair of trail I use a couple times a year. I usually only wear one pair of road until I have an egregious number of miles on them (Iâve pushed two pairs to 700 miles). But Iâve been running more marathons and I like a fresh pair of shoes for each race, so I have one pair of hoka Clifton 8 that I donât like that has 500 miles, a pair of Clifton 9 that has 370 miles from my spring marathon, and my current pair of Clifton 9 for my marathon next week that has about 100 miles. I also usually switch between Clifton and brooks glycerin, but Cliftonâs have been serving me well for my PRs lately and I guess Iâve been hesitant to change (based on my last three pairs lol).
