How would you compare the feel of the Triumph 23 to the Mach 6? Thomas Do Canto on the Inside Running Podcast likes both, and I also like the Mach 6 the most out of shoes in my rotation (using for daily/easy runs). Have been thinking about eventually adding the Triumph to the rotation as a second long run alternative to the Superblast 2
Puma magnify and magmax, Saucony Endorphin Azura (just came out), Novablast 5, Hoka Mach 6, (narrow foot friendly for sure), Tyr Maverick V1 are all lighter and protective but not mushy from my personal experience/research. The 1080v13 and v14 is also my go to casual/walking shoe and they increased the weight quite a bit from one to the other. But even then the 13 was a bit of a slog for me. I think modern trainers have the ability to pick up the pace and protect you on slower runs as well.
The Ghost is not that similar to the Adrenaline, it's quite a bit softer. I think Mach 6 is a better choice overall based on what you're looking for, but I think the Ghost is also an option to consider if those don't work out.
I used to have a BAD running shoe problem, I had like 25. I am now reformed but still have a lot apparently: *Hoka Mach 6 for everyday runs, I run part road part trail and these get gunked up every day, ugly lavender but muddied up which I love *Brooks Hyperion for everyday runs or short races (5k, 10k) -I was using this as dailys but I was gunking them on trails and I like them too much so I got the hokas above to destroy *Adidas Adizero Evo SL for road long runs (will use for my half marathons) -LOVE this shoe, cushy but speedy, makes me feel super fast *Hoka speedgoats for trail -I am meh about these, I prefer road shoes on trail, if I had more technical or slippery trails I would use these but other than that they just exist Vintage: *Adidas adizero adios boost, used to be my LD race shoes, they are like 10 years old and I refuse to give them up because they are old school undercushioned and fast *Mizuno hitogami also about 10 years old, proper racing flats supposedly for mid distance but I love them for short distance. Love love love how clicky they are, they go so fast Ok, nobody reading this but it warmed my heart to talk about my shoes, lol
Oh, fun! I used the Mach 6 on all road today for the first time and they did pretty good too! The speedgoats are good, if you ever try trail! They're just overkill for my trails, they would be awesome for scrambles and water crossings.
My stats are pretty similar to yours, have you ever tried the Hoka Mach 6 and if so how would you compare the two? The 6s are my do it alls but the more miles I put on them the less “snappy” or “fun” they feel if that makes sense. I’ve been looking at the Evo SL since they’ve been on sale, these, and the Mach 7s as everyday replacements. In addition to running I use my shoes in Hyrox style workouts. Any insight would be great!
I think the Rincon are less firm and more cushioned than the Mach series. That being said, I love my Mach 6 - I think they’re fun and comfy (I have even done the occasional long run in mine but I am not a cushion fan…) I have heard the Rincon described as a durable, light, cushioned uptempo shoe - which seems to fit what your looking for
Hoka Mach 6 are a good fast/fun long run shoe, I also use them for speed work. They seem like they offer more durability than the carbon plated shoes I keep my Hoka Rocket X 2 for races
A few good suggestions already that if you like the Clifton you’ll enjoy the Mach 6 as a lighter, poppier option. I’d like to add as someone who likes both those shoes, that I got a pair of the ASICS S4+ Yogiri and I love these. I’m almost tempted to wear these instead of Mach’s as my daily trainer now, but I’m going to see how many miles I can get out of them. I usually get around 700-800kms (500 miles max) out of my Mach 6’s. So if you can get the ASICS S4+ Yogiri where you are (I know it’s not available as other ASICS models) definitely check them out.
I use Hoka Mach 6 for tempo runs and races. I have wide feet so I take what I can get as long it is comfortable. I run anywhere from 25-40miles per week.
Wide foot runner. My milage is 40+ miles a week. I normally stick with new balance. I love the rebels for my daily trainer. I will say my favorite wide shoe is the Hoka Mach 6. I use those for races. I just brought the Hoka Arahi’s 8. It’s alright for the purpose I brought the shoe for.
Hoka Mach 6 NB Rebel Both of these meet your constraints. I like both of those as a nearly 6’ runner that weighs 185-ish. I also have the Evos, but they’re very squishy and not very stable. I’ve learned to like them but I do not love them personally. If you can get to a running store, try to do that.
I’m still curating my rotation, but I think this is what I’ll end up with. I do have a pair of Hoka Mach 6’s I really enjoy for more tempo-style work though
