Marathon workhorse, but loud and clunky at slow paces.

My daily is the Mizuno Wave Rider 29 and it’s been great. 10mm drop.
brooks ghost, or if you want more cushioning the ghost max. most daily trainers will do what your asking. Mizuno produces fantastic quality shoes. Check out the wave rider 29 for example. from other brands: saucony ride or triumph, hoka clifton. I do not recommend the novablast 5. I have this shoe and I find the foam feels flat after 15km or so. Ran a half marathon in them, never again! Good luck.
It's literally YMMV. I used to run exclusively in firm shoes, now all of my shoes are soft and I much prefer them this way. I have Neo Vista for long runs, Endorphin Pro4 for speedwork and Wave Rider 29 for daily/gym. All varying degrees of soft, responsive shoes that I feel are the sweet spot for me.
Had the Speed4, the EvoSL, the Bostons (11-13) and can confidently state that I didn't enjoy any of them for various reasons: \- Speed4; firm, upper fit issues \- EvoSL; not fun at Z2 paces, upper fit issue \- Boston13; really slappy in the heel I did a bit of travelling over the summer and brought my Mizuno Wave Rider 29s with me, and they were excellent for every type of run. Subjectively, I think they look great too. They're a true do-it-all daily.
Neo Vistas are great for heel strikers - i've about 250km on mine and they're still going strong. The Vista2 get highly rated as good long run shoes. I'm a broken record at this point, but can't emphasise how good the Wave Rider 29 is, too. They are my wear-for-everything shoes currently. Not a fan of the EvoSLs - they felt weird unless i was pushing the pace.
I just posted a review of the Mizuno Wave Rider 29 [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/s/ITrKm7DgOv). I can highly recommend these - I feel my heel slipping in several brands, most noticeably in Saucony. No issues here
I used to be you; wore Inspires for many years. I took advice from a podiatrist who basically dismissed the need for stability-specific shoes, and recommended I go with what's most comfortable. I've tried loads of different brands and shoe types over the last few years and have settled on Adidas for racing/workouts, but Mizuno fit my feet best for everything else. I highly recommend the new Riders - they are super-comfortable and are supportive when the mileage gets high or fast
They're most likely just going to hurt - they're forcing your foot into a position that may not be natural for it. The most sympathetic support shoe to lower arches are the Mizuno Inspire, but they're dull to run in. Go try a few pair of shoes on and go with what's comfortable. You might be better in a more traditional drop (10mm); Brooks Ghost, Mizuno Rider, Puma Magnify are all great shoes.
I'll answer this for you as someone who ran in the same shoe for nearly 13 years and now has settled on a rotation. You need to try a load of different shoes because you have no idea what you like, right now. Every shoe feels different. I ran in Mizuno Inspires, tried the Rider, then a tonne of other shoes and I realise I like soft shoes that are relatively stable. Vinted has become my friend; a cheap way of trying shoes out and most runners are honest about their usage and estimated mileage. Currently, I've settled on Neo Vista for easy/long runs, and Endorphin Pro 4 for speed work/racing. I'm primarily a heel-striker who over-pronates
Honestly, your mind will be blown when you start trying modern trainers.
Mizuno was never in my sights, but a few years ago they revolutionized their range and I started following them, I couldn't resist and bought the Neo Zen, I'm absolutely thrilled with it, it's a great shoe overall, if it doesn't break I'll be buying more of its iterations. I also tried the latest Wave Rider 29 and liked it, I might buy that too, but I'd rather wait for the next iteration. Mizuno is a brand worth following now
I prefer firmer shoes, so our tastes may differ. Saucony Endorphin Speed or Azura, Adidas Boston 12 or 13, are best for me. Someone mentioned Mizuno. Their Wave Rider 29 is a very good all-rounder, probably better for a newer runner than the above. Puma Velocity Nitro 4 and Nike Vomero Plus are too narrow for me, but both are good shoes. For longest lasting-- Asics Superblast 2, now on sale for $150 now that the 3 is out. But go to Asics site and get the welcome code, bringing them down to $135.
I have had some great luck with the latest iteration of the mizuno wave rider. About 150 miles in and I still keep grabbing for it as my daily.
