glideride feels unstable to me...nimbus feels stable but foam doesn't feel bouncy...just squishy...of the two, I would rather wear nimbus 27, but my new fave is the Mizuno Wave Sky 9...by far the best shoe out there
Wave Sky 9, Skecher Aero Burst and Gel Nimbus 27 are also good...
Aero burst is like walking on rubber. Not as stable but nice. It is a firmer version of the vomero plus. Wave sky 9 has a lot of cushion but doesn’t feel like a max cushion shoe. Very planted.
The novablasts are seriously unstable. I was exactly like this and they caused me no end of issues. I think for a new runner I would steer clear because your tendons and ligaments won’t be strong enough to hold up to the beating they’ll take trying to stabilize your feet and ankles in these shoes. Try something like the Mizuno sky 9 if you want lots of cushioning in a stable but neutral shoe
I have the Neo Vista 1, Neo Zen, Wave Sky 9 and two Neo Vista 2s. I converted my Wave Sky 9 to a walking shoe since I’m on my feet at work all day and they’re supportive and comfortable. Neo Vista 2 is my favorite Mizuno running shoe. Went 1/2 size down. If you enjoy the Neo Zen you will not be disappointed. Definitely 💯 percent worth a try.
The Neo Vista 2 is a great, fun shoe for your long runs, training long runs. The Wave Sky 9 will pamper your feet for recovery runs, when your legs are beat up.
I have run in all of them accept the rise 3 and to me, the Wave Sky 9 fits the bill. It’s definitely the most cushioned, easy, long run shoe. The other shoes are max cushioned but have some performance qualities, push you to go a bit faster.
I think the wave sky is a great shoe, I love Mizuno, the Neo Zen, the Neo Vista . . . I was just trying to stay within ASICS since OP has gotten along well with the brand.
Curious how these feel during a run. The Vomero 17’s were so soft and sinky, I couldn’t run in them. I’m wondering if Vomero Plus’ are a bit firmer and more responsive. I just don’t like that sink in feel. I’m 170M, 5’10. I mostly run in Evo Sl’s, Wave Sky 9, and Adios Pro 3’s
I have Neo Zen's, Vista 1 and 2, Wave Rider 29 and Wave Sky 9. As the commenter below stated, the Wave Rider 29 is definitely the most traditional but I can't stress enough how different they are the Wave Rider 28. They CRUSHED IT with the foam in the 29. It's SO comfortable. I bought a 2nd pair in a more neutral colorway just to wear to work.
Could definitely look at insoles for some neutral shoes, fun stability shoes off the top of my head newest saucony hurricane is nice imo, asics gt2000 not so much fun but for a stability shoe its a nice lightweight lil bit peppy shoe, saucony tempus is like a endorphine speed but the stability version almost i guess, if youve been running for awhile & havnt had any pain tho honestly id first look at stable neutrals theres no doubt stability shoes are over prescribed by shoe stores, i literally work at one so i know it first hand also. Stuff like a asics superblast 2 very wide raised sidewalls great stable neutral pick, saucony triumph, wide outsole fair amount of medial sole flaring, Mizuno wave sky 9, doctors of running are a good place to look at / watch in regards to stable neutral picks.
Long time fan of the Mizuno Wave Sky for long, easy runs. Have not tried the Zen or Vista yet.
I do this as well, and my shoes look just like yours after a while. I do it less with shoes that aren't max stacked like the Wave Sky, but then those shoes aren't as comfortable for me on long runs. I basically just wear what I like and accept that I'll wear down that part of the shoe faster. Right now my long runs are in the Neo Vistas and they are holding up well, maybe due to the very pronounced rocker.
I think the Mizuno Wave Sky would be something to check out. Not super fancy and not super fast. It's highly-cushioned, but not so soft that you feel like you're running in sand.
Hard agree! I've been wearing the Wave Sky lately and loving it! What model do you like?
I'll never turn down a Wave Rider. For me lately, it's been the Wave Sky - loving these.
I think they make great shoes. I used to wear the Wave Rider, lately I've been rocking the Wave Sky and love it. The Wave Prophecy to me felt very stiff, but I did appreciate that level of support on my longer runs (although they also felt a bit heavy, as well). I like them so much I've literally never tried another brand, because why?
