I’ve just purchased my first pair of Mount to Coast R1 running shoes. They’re built for ultra marathons. So far, I love them

I personally love Hoka Mach or Saucony PWR Run. I always size up (half to full size) than my normal shoe size as your feet tend to swell during runs. Everyone raves about Brooks but their shoes gave my shin splints and didn’t provide support. I recently discovered Mount to Coast R1 shoes and I LOVE them

Mount to Coast R1 - mid-stack, no major toe-spring, comfortable, outsole lasts forever. Great 'normal' shoe.

Also just picked these up. I had bought the T1 first but didn't like upper or the dual speed laces so I returned them. The H1 is such a comfortable, bouncy shoe. Only have one run in them so far but they were great!

Too scratchy and stiff on the inside material, especially in the toe box. It may have been a manufacturer defect but some of the seems in the inside of the toe box, like in the top of the foot where the tongue connects to the upper was rubbing my foot something fierce.

You might give a pair of Mount to Coast R1 a try. I have been really enjoying them as both a road and gravel shoe. Previously I ran in Altra Torin and Topo Cyclone 2, but just didn’t get the mileage out of them that I was hoping for. Several friends up here have gotten a lot of miles out of Mount to Coast and even prefer them for sections of trail ultras that aren’t technical.

Mount to Coast R1. I know it's been mentioned by others, but I have done 4 different 50k races, one 100k, and a lot of long runs, including back-to-back long runs, in these shoes. I have never had an issue with them and would choose them over any other shoe in the closet for an ultra-distance road effort.

I adore Mount to Coast, but they are not available in the EU unfortunately.

I had a pretty good first run in them. The tempo was between 4:50 - 5:20 min/km, but didn’t feel like they are heavy shoes. Compared to my Puma Magmax these are lightweight. Plenty of room for the toes. It was easy to speed up in them.

I had EVO SL and I loved it. This R1 gave similar sensation, though not as squishy and a little bit heavier, but i loved this one as well. Im going to have a 100 km race in 3 weeks and I feel like we will be friends with the R1

r/beginnerrunningNeed shoe recommendations: One pair for daily, fast, and long runs?

My recommendation isn't budget friendly if you look at it as just one pair of shoes. However, these shoes have lasted me 500 miles so far and still offer support and energy return. I use them for everything except track work. The Mount to Coast R1 is absolutely amazing and will last you for what seems like forever. They're $150 but if you're wearing them for 2 years before needing a replacement, I'd call that a good purchase.

r/Marathon_TrainingDo I really need two pairs of shoes for marathon training?

The benefits of carbon shoes are really not worth it for someone who isn't well sub-3:00. I trained for a marathon last year wearing TYR SR-1 Tempo shoes for 90% of my mileage. They were ok. This year I'm running about twice as many miles per week training for a 50-miler and wearing the Mount to Coast R1 for 90% of my mileage and wow, the difference is night and day! The cushion is amazing and you still get great energy return. I'm well over 300 miles in these shoes in the last few months and they still feel very supportive without feeling stiff. But also cushioned without being sloppy. If you do speed work that is much faster than your training pace I'd recommend a second shoe that has a lower cushion stack. But I've done speed work in the R1 and they work well for that too.

Mount to Coast R1 is an amazing shoe. I've got 400 miles on mine in the last 3-4 months and I wear them to work about half the time so there is even more mileage on them from walking around work. The cushion is holding up beautifully, still great energy return and minimal visible wear and tear on the outsole. I have them in all black and they look good with business casual attire.

That’s very much average for a daily trainer that’s actually a good shoe. And this is a very good shoe. You’ll likely get between 600-800 miles out of these compared to the average of about 400-500 miles on most others (maybe less.)

Might as well, I just wish I had a discount code or something because I love the shoes so much I've talked to countless people about them.

Mount to Coast R1 is exactly what you are looking for. Tried the Ghost 16, Glycerin 22, EVO sl, Novablast 5, looking exactly for what you are describing. The Mount to Coast is by far my favorite. Ground feel with a medium to wide toe box, but also enough stability and cushion for long runs. Highly durable as well and no aggressive rocker.
