LOVED the v12 for this but recently tried the new version and it felt like much more of a running shoe and I didn’t think it was going to be good for casual. It’s like a whole different shoe.

I'm 192cm and 95kg running mainly 1080 v12 but finding them totally flat after 300km which is quite to quick; I was expecting at least 500km from them. Considering to invest in Superblast 2 as the next main shoe, also I ordered Adidas Boston 12 to give a try. Not sure how v14 is better from 12 as 13 is way too soft for me as getting ankle pain

So I am 29 years old, 6’5 and weigh roughly 220-225. My last pair of running shoes are pretty much worn out and hurt to run since I started running again this spring and those were the New Balance 1080 V13s. They did a great job for the most part, but I’m not sure if that much cushion is a GOOD thing for running. My pair prior to that were the NB 1080 V12s and that model had significantly less cushion. They felt better to run in but I would think for someone my size, having more cushion would be better for the joints for less body wear and tear. I’m curious if any other large people have found a shoe that’s great for them without breaking the bank? I’m not a good runner by any means and it’s been a long winter in the northeast so I’m barely able to run a mile without stopping in these PA hills at the moment.

Thanks for the help! The 1080v15 looks really promising. My last New Balance pairs were the 1080v12 and the More v4, both went well over 1000 km and I’m still using them today. They’re sun-bleached to hell at this point, but they’ve still got plenty of life left.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! That really narrow down my opinion. I’ll probably go with the 1080v15 as my daily trainer then, it seems solid and versatile across different paces. I’ve also had a great experience with the brand: my More v4 and 1080v12 both went well over 1000 km and are still going strong. They’re sun-bleached to hell at this point, but they’ve still got plenty of life left. I'll also definitely check out the Challenger 5 and the Deviate 4.

1000+ km later, the shoe is still holding up remarkably well. The foam has definitely flattened out a bit, but overall it's still in great shape. I'm looking for recommendations with a similar vibe: smooth, comfortable, capable of picking up the pace when needed, but forgiving enough that I can be a little lazy and still cruise through a decent 10K without my feet feeling wrecked afterward. I have wide feet, and New Balance has been the only brand that's consistently fit me well, so that's probably my safest bet. Right now I'm running in the Dynafish Xiaonian, and after spending some time with it, I have to admit I miss my More V4 a little. With the More V4, I could just throw it on, switch my brain off, and get through an easy run. The Xiaonian is more engaging and rewarding, but it also asks more from me every run, and that's not always what I want for easy days. I originally thought the Xiaonian could replace the More V4 and handle a one-shoe rotation, but it turns out I probably need something to pair with it instead. Don't get me wrong, it's been an absolute blast to run in. Both shoes are among the best I've ever had the pleasure of putting miles into, just for very different reasons.

Man, I'd love to get my hands on another pair, but it seems like nobody stocks them anymore where I live. My next options are probably the 1080 v15 or maybe even the v13. They could work, but in my experience both versions run a bit narrow through the midfoot. I've owned the V12 before, and that's always been my biggest issue with the 1080 line. I might try going up half a size this time and see if that helps. It's not ideal, but if I can get a little more room through the midfoot without introducing heel slip, it could end up being a decent replacement

When the temp drops and slimy leaves are out I’ve been using Nike Pegasus 39 Shield. Those claiming the Pegasus trail are good for slippy tarmac don’t know what they’re talking about. The Sole compound is different on those and designed for light gravel/ roots and is actually pretty and on wet tarmac I find (i run Pegasus trail 4 for off road). For context dry/ summer i’m using NB 1080v12

I have a very similar foot…. Agree with Superblast 2. I have been through 3 pairs of 2’s and a single pair of 1’s. It is unfortunate for supinators that the Superblast 3 has that medial build up of blast+ foam to help with those that tend to pronate. I have also used the NB more v5 for recovery/easy which worked well too. I tend to really destroy the lateral edges of shoes as that is where I land, so some decent rubber there is important. Vomero plus is also very comfortable.
