I have the 5 and man are they moon shoes but also my go to âtake it easy on yourselfâ shoes for sure. I donât prefer running in them but man, the make a day on the feet a dream.
lol I weigh in around 190 and think the Rebel 4 is an amazing shoe. Iâve worn them for every purpose. Great shoe. Iâll buy them again for this summer as a matter of fact. They have a fantastic blend of a firmer forefoot/toebox and softer heel. The parent comment may be about the Rebel 3 which is not the same and not as good as the 4 imo. I recommended them to two other guys that I train and theyâve given me glowing praise of them. Theyâre both 200 pound men. A woman in my running group took third in her age group in a major marathon in them. I have the NB Fresh Foam More and donât like them to run in. Theyâre too soft and I feel like they actually hurt my feet.
Check out the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v5. Itâs on sale since the v6 is out, I got a pair for $60 USD and they are perfect whenever Iâm going low and slow. My easy pace is a 10:00 mile and Iâve taken them out to 10 miles. Thereâs not a wow factor to them, they are a bit heavy but donât feel like it to me and I just donât need to think about them. They are also really stable despite the massive stack.
We are about the same speed -I have a ten mile route I like to run in my Fresh Foam X More v5s, and today I decided to run it Adios Pro 4s since I picked up a few pairs through the holidays - took about 9 minutes off my run. Itâs not world class or earth shattering, but itâs a tangible benefit. Youâre going to have to get used to the plate though, it makes my feet tired
I have a lot, but my most boring, Iâm not going to get hurt shoe is the New Balance Fresh Foam X More V5. I can rip off 10 miles at a decent pace and feel perfectly fresh after. âFunâ daily running trainer I would say Adizero Prime X2. It has a plate, so I know itâs generally not recommended for daily running, but I honestly think it barely feels like a plated shoe.
I would look into the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v5 - itâs the best easy run shoe Iâve ever used. I can maintain a 6:30 km pace pretty easily and never feel fatigued. I do want to add the caveat that I have about 12kgs on you though.
I have the more v5 and it definitely is good for  days where you have an injury concern or are miserably sore, but itâs so not versatile so I wouldnât highly recommendÂ
+1 I love my more v5. But mind you they very specific shoes for recovery/easy runs only but dream shoes to run in when tired!
New Balance is typically the go-to for soft and wide. 1080v14, More v5 on the plusher side, Rebel v4 on the lighter/firmer side (still fairly soft imo). If you can get away with a 2E you could also look at the ASICS Novablast 5.
I'm always surprised that new balance fresh foam more v5 is not mentioned more in this sub. Pretty decent shoe, high stack, stable enough, comfy, not too wide, not too slim, great foam.
This is a good approach. I'm on the low end of the distance with something like 2 runs of 10k per week and sometimes a 15k. I feel like one super cushioned daily shoe that I can use for my recovery/easy runs (NB Fresh Foam v5), one slightly less cushioned shoe (Puma Velocity Nitro 3) that can be used as an daily trainer and all purposes (still haven't given them a try out of the box tho but this is the idea) and a super light speedy shoe (Brooks Hyperion GTS). For the low km's the I do I can absolutely go with 2 shoes only and never use a speed shoe.
I'm heavier, being only 175cm tall... I feel safe and comfortable in New Balance Fresh Foam V5 right now.
I'm not a km counter, can't tell exactly. The sole is made of a soft rubber, so it's a little bit consumed right now (it's not an eternal Vibram sole, saying it in another way). About bounciness and so, they always seem to be the same as the first day. I can't think how people can judge shoes being "charged" or "discharged", to be honest :) (but I'm a humble casual runner)
I rotate between NB more v5 and the Hoka Skyward X. You cant go wrong with either (or both)
