I loved the Rebel v3 because they were more dynamic. The Rebel v4, while it works for interval work at u/4:10 min/km, isn’t the Rebel v3. I’ve bought another Rebel v4 since, with the release of the Rebel v5, they’re on clearance at low prices, and I think they’re perfect for easy runs at u/5:15–5:20 min/km. If I want something faster I might go for the Topo Cyclone 3 or the Flame Mix, although I prefer non-plated shoes for training. Until now I’d been using the Topo Specter 2, but the outsole rubber is peeling off, and I think the Rebel v4 can take its place and do well there. I don’t want shoes like the NB 1080 or the Clifton… I prefer lighter options
For me Evo Sl are comfortable at any pace below 10k but easy to overdo easy runs in them. Hated both Rebel V3 and V4 on the road - both felt flat out of the box but decent on treadmill.
I am on the heavier side, 220ish, and every ruin in the Rebels feels like I'm running in concrete. My legs are so destroyed because of how much they absorb and don't give back. They are great walking shoes for me, but they are horrible shoes for any types of runs for myself. I have some Puma's on the way from Shoebacca's ebay store as they were blowing them out for cheap (Foreverrun NItro and Velocity Nitro), and I'll see how they work.
Yeah I’m not the biggest fan either. And I spent like an entire week reading and watching reviews on them. Of course all the content creators said these were remarkable and 5 out of 5 (similar to the adidas Boston which turned out to be trash). I would exchange these for a new set of rebel v3’s in a heartbeat. The v3 felt so nimble and gave the feeling of being able to go fast and slow depending on how you’re feeling. These v5’s just feel slow and the cushion doesn’t give enough spring back. But the biggest gripe I have with the v5 is that the base is so wide compared to the v3. I hate how it feels like I’m running on cushioned plates while the v3 felt tailor made to my feet.
I love my rebels. 3, 4, 5. I have em all. Love em all. Not every shoe is for everyone is what I’ve learned. Best thing you can do is try to find a running store where you can take them for a spin around the block before you buy.
Hoka Mach 6 NB Rebel Both of these meet your constraints. I like both of those as a nearly 6’ runner that weighs 185-ish. I also have the Evos, but they’re very squishy and not very stable. I’ve learned to like them but I do not love them personally. If you can get to a running store, try to do that.
I have a pair of v3s, don’t love them.
Same but with the rebel 3. I just use them as walking shoes.
Interesting. I loved the rebel v3, hated v4 and like v5. I agree that they feel better below 6:00 min/km but also fine at easy pace for me. I love the upper, so breathable and great for summer runs
