I’ve done several muddy Parkruns and wet towpath runs with the Pegasus GTX. Never had an issue with ingress, and they’ve been great, albeit heavy. They’re neutral, but I think there may be a support variant.

I use gore tex pegs and have no issues. I need to use gore tex as I live in West Scotland

The 41 GTX is amazing! You already own a basic pair of Nikes, so you can get it in the same US sizing and it’ll be fine. What was the size of your old pair vs the 41 GTX?

I think it’s great. I have Pegasus 41 GTX and Pegasus 5 Trail GTX.

Pegasus 41 has ReactX and Pegasus Plus has the ZoomX. How is that mere name riding?

I tried the gor-tex pegasus two years ago and had this issue too. I don't like running in them, but I do think they're great winter shoes to run errands and other stuff when I don't need full winter boots.

Decent running shoes. I've got Nike Pegasus 41s for pavement and hoka challenger 8s for trails, makes a huge difference. A decent pair of gloves to keep your hands warm as that's the only bit of me that gets painfully cold on early morning winter runs.

Going from Nike Pegasus 41s to the Adidas Boston 13s. Anything I should know?

I’ll be rotating a newer pair of Pegasus 41s, Boston 13s, and Alpha Fly 3s

For a beginner, try the Brooks Ghost 15, ASICS Gel-Nimbus 26 or Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 41. They're supportive, durable and great for building mileage withour stressing your joints. A good pair can make starting out much easier and more enjoyable.

I have the Pegasus 41s and I wouldn’t even run a 5k in them lol, they are good for HIIT where I’m on the treadmill for 5 mins or less lol. As much as I dislike these shoes, the ASICS Superblast 2s may be what you are looking for as you are looking for a more stable non-soft option. I like a softer shoe and these are very much like a brick to me and not my preference but lots of people seem love them.
