SUPERBLAST 2
Marathon workhorse, but loud and clunky at slow paces.

Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
The puma velocity nitro 4 is probably the best daily trainer out there right now. It's essentially an elevated pegasus that is lighter, softer and more responsive for running. If you want to stick with Nike the pegasus plus is also a cool shoe that is more performance orientated compared to the pegasus 41 The standard pegasus is a fine shoe but it's shock absorption, weight and responsiveness lag behind a lot of the competition.
The last 3-5yrs especially - TONS of advancement in running shoe foams that shouldn't be totally ignored. You just see tons of squishy foam, but what the new foams in a lot of shoes (not all of them, but like the Vomero 18 or Vomero Plus you'd see at the NIke store) - have energy return properties that activate the foot and ankle vs just absorbing impact. I can't stand foamy, squishy shoes, but some high stack shoes don't feel that way at all when you run in them. I have a pair of Pegasus 41s, but they're a daily walking around shoe. Not something I'd run in.
I personally LOVE my Vomero Plus in my running rotation, but agree it's far away from a shoe I'd walk in. Personally, Nike Pegasus may be my favorite running shoe to walk in.
Nike Pegasus 41 often around £65 now that the 42 are out, perfect if you only want a “one shoe to do it all”
I’ve been running in the Pegasus 41 for 600km now, mostly 5-12km runs, ranging between 4:30/km all the way up to 6:30/km. They feel good at all of my paces and I’ve had no ankle, knee, shin or calf pain in the time I’ve been using them. I would definitely recommend them to a beginner or somebody coming back to running after a break. I bought them after 6 years off. I’ve just ordered an upgrade, which should be arriving today, but will continue to use the Pegs in rotation until they feel flat and no longer comfortable. I have gone for the Puma Velocity Nitro 4 next.
I'm in the Pegasus 41 (second pair just turned up today after I had to send the Puma Velocity Nitro 4 back) and curious about the Vomero 18. I noticed that your interval/ tempo/ threshold pace is 5:10-5:15/km and easy is 5:50-6:00/km. I do my 400m intervals at 4:20-4:30/km, my tempo at 5:15/km and my easy at 6:30/km. Would you say my easy are too easy or my fast too fast? HM PB is 1 hour 52 but that was a couple of years ago when paces were faster
I got some Nike Pegasus 41 for £65 in Sports Direct (reduced from £135) recently. Most colour ways were still £135 but the blue/ white was £65 so I grabbed a pair. Now 200km in and they’ve been excellent.
I have had a pair of the Volt colourway since its release. Used as both a runner and a daily walker (think.. treadmill / pre-school drop off), in addition to other daily usage (trips to the supermarket etc). I’ve also slightly biased opinion in some sense because I inserted some used, fitted running insoles to them (I have high arches). Overall, it’s a stable shoe. It’s very comfortable, but the initial excitement of bounce and springyness I found to die out pretty quickly. Would I say they’re worth the price tag? Certainly not. Are they still comfortable now in December 2025? Absolutely - but I used them now for chores rather than running. I turned to the adidas Evo SL for running. In comparison to other ‘Pegs’, I found the 40 worse, but the Peg 33 (yes, I know, way older!) to be more comfortable, which I guess is kinda mad. I doubt I’ll be stacking up too many more running miles in my Peg 41’s. They certainly still have enough tread, but are they comfy enough to do 10km or so? Definitely not. (I know other people’s opinions will differ from this).
I use Adios Pro 4 for races myself. I use Evo SL for all of my faster workouts under HM distance and Bostons for faster workouts over. I never buy shoes close to full retail price. I’m guessing you are not in the U.S. though so I don’t know what kind of deals you can get. I’ve found Bostons here for $60 and Evo SLs for $80 and Pro 4 for $130. I just got a pair of Vomero Plus for my easy days. I originally had the Pegasus 41 and do not like them all. They just feel dead and too firm. If a shoe is slow I at least want it to be soft.
i’m a nike guy so: long runs pegasus 41, easy runs pegasus premium and tempo/interval zoomfly 6.
