The most performant might be the streakfly 2. But it is quite radical, you'd better be a forefoot striker and have strong calves. Takumi Sen 11 should be close enough, but gentler on the legs. A vaporfly or Adios pro 4 or most other supershoes should do the job well too, while being more versatile if you want to race longer distances at some point.

Hello I can’t seem to find a nice and slightly durable (probably can last 600k? or 1-2 seasons of workouts) shoe for longer track workouts. This pair will be used for the long tempos (3:45/k), intervals, and reps down to 5K pace at around 3:00-3:05/k. It doesn’t need to have a plate but I hope for some kind of pep in step and bounce with some firmness for the faster reps. I have tried these shoes: 1. Nike Vaporfly 2 - Firm and nice cushioning. I really like these but the shoe falls apart really easily in my humid country. Rain shreds the sides of the midsole. 2. Nike Vaporfly 3 - Same as VF2 but softer cushioning. I really prefer this shoe for my workouts but the shoe fails really easy. 3. Asics Magic Speed 3 - Felt overly firm (which I don’t really enjoy) but fast reps feel nice. 4. Li-Ning Feidian 5 Challenger - Slightly better than the Magic Speed 3 in terms of cushioning but hoped for more cushion underfoot. 5. Dynafish Xiaonian - Perhaps got a wrong size because my foot was swimming in the upper even when I got 1/2 size down. Difficult to go fast in the really soft foam. 6. Xtep 160X 3.5 Pro - Probably got the wrong size as it was really tight. Really nice and responsive but didn’t have any allowance for slower reps. (Basically the same as a Nike Streakfly but thick and bouncy. Becomes quite blocky on bad days.) 7. Endorphin Speed 1/2: Really nice shoe for tempo and faster stuff back in the day but the new versions (v3 and v4) seems lacking. 8. Adidas Takumi Sen 10: Nice as a trainer but the shoe feels bottom heavy for some reason. 9. Qiaodan Plaid 1.5: Nice and cushioned for the longer tempos and slower intervals. Becomes chunky and blocky and difficult to run with at faster paces. 10. Nike Streakfly 2: Really good for shorter reps. Light and fast. Cushioning abit lacking on longer reps. Durability is not really good. I’m thinking of using the Streakfly 2 for faster paces (5K and under) but I cannot find something that I like for broken up tempos/thresholds and longer tempo work at 5K pace and up. Are there any shoes that are worth trying out in the current market? Or are there any shoe that you have tried that you are satisfied from faster workouts? Thanks!

Puma Fast-r Nitro Elite 3 should be on your list. I went to a shop to try the Vaporfly 4 and the Puma Fast-r Elite 3 last year. The Puma felt faster and more protective, it was a no brainer for me. I still love them and just feel fast and energetic. I bought them and have done an 18:26 5k PB in them and 38:39 10k PB. While a lot of that is down to the running and strength training, I also know the shoes are giving me the best chance out there and help me feel confident. If I could get them cheap enough and it was purely for 5km then I'd try the Vaporfly 4 again, but only to help save the Puma for when I really wanted a PB. They both fit fairly narrow. The Puma has a cut away heel which means it's really not for heel striking at all. If you're mid to heel then check out the Nitro Elite 4 or 3 (not the Fast-r version). I also tried the Streakfly 2. If you're strong with great form and want something more like a track spike for the road, they're super light and would be quick. But for me I wanted more shock absorption even for a 5k to half marathon race. They just weren't for me.

If you were going for one shoe only, i would go megablast, hands down. The megablast is the spiritual successor to the superblast 2. A responsive shoe that can do it all and pick up the pace. It’s a perfect half/full marathon training shoe. The superblast 3 pivoted to a softer more recovery/easy day focused shoe. Also as others have mentioned, the SB3 is showing some durability issues. My megablast has 460mi and they’re still going strong with minimal signs of wear. They can be used for everything from long runs (have brought mine out for 15mi and they could’ve gone longer) to VO2 max sessions. You also mentioned wanting to have a shoe rotations. You can definitely use only one shoe. But I think with tour background, you might enjoy having a rotation. You don’t have to go straight to 4 shoes though. I would start with the megablast and a carbon plated race day shoe and go from there. Run mainly in the megablast and take out the race day shoe a few times for key workouts and for a long run to make sure it works for you on race day. After some running in those two, ask yourself if you feel like anything is missing. For me, I appreciate having something a little firmer and supportive for recovering runs. I feel like for marathob training, anything more would be a want and not a need My current rotation is: Megablast z2-z3/most runs Metaspeed sky Tokyo for threshold, VO2 max, and race day Puma MagMax for recovery runs and when my legs are tired Nike Streakfly 2 for speed days at the track (I’m currently training for a 5K. I probably wouldn’t use this for marathon training. But it is a fun shoe on the track)

I just got a pair of Streakfly 2s and I think they would be great fo OP. It’s built on the same last as the dragon fly but you can also use them on the road. I plan to use them on the track as well but it’s nice that they have just enough foam to be use on the road if the track near me is being used

In that case the Nike streakfly 2 would be a great choice. It’s an aggressive shoe based of the dragon fly. It’s basically a track spike but they just adds a little bit of foam so it can be used on the road

100% Vaporfly 4 or Streakfly 2. My interval pace in EVO SL, Zoom Fly 6 and Superblast 2 all capped out at around 4:15-4:20min/km - first run in the VF4 and I was hitting 3:50-3:55min/km.

They’re also racing shoes like the Vaporfly and Alphafly, but much lighter. I usually avoid lightweight shoes since I’m a heavier runner. In my experience, they tend to be less durable and not as comfortable.

Ight. Id recommend the streakfly 2 then. You can find it at a good price and its the absolute best for 5k racing. Its a delicate shoe though so dont expect it to last long. Its a race only shoe.
