Hey, I also just started running again. My PB, six years ago, was 5k in 34 min (gotta start somewhere, right) and I'm aiming for the 30 min run now. I overpronate a bit and also look for shoes with a wide toe box. De back of my foot (heel?) is very narrow. I currently own an old pair of Saucony Liberty Iso and they have been great! But I'm from the Netherlands and they soak up every drop of rain (the goretex sounds good lol). Today I tried the Nike Structure 26 and the Pegasus 41. I really have to size up en the toebox isn't as wide as my Saucony's. I do like the feel of the Structure 26. I have now ordered the Adidas Supernova Rise 2. The are designed for comfort during running with a slightly wider toebox (I hope that's true) and they are said to be a neutral shoe with some support for overpronation. I am by no means an expert, but I do think when a shoe feels too snug, it probably is. Good luck on your search and keep it up with the baby, my kids are bigger en I'm only now starting to get back at it.
Another vote to try Nike Structure 26 or Structure Plus. I’ve been running in structures for years - they’re a bit clunky but are very good at the stability part. I’ve not tried the new models but they sound like a real step forward.
ASICS mega blast 2 Nike structure 26 is amazing
From a road running perspective, I still prefer Nike. I’ve gone Lunarglide 9 (still miss these trainers for their comfort), Structure 26, Infinity Run Flyknit and now Infinity RN4. Ran 1/2 marathons in all 4 of them and I’ve never had issues with blisters or foot pain wearing Nike trainers. Whereas with Adidas trainers, I often felt pain on the inner foot. I’ve never really given consideration to other brands even though my friends all wear the likes of Hoka, Brooks, Saucony etc… I’ve got on well with Nike so never felt the need to change. With the Vomero Plus and Premium, Nike are basically covering everything from a road running perspective and I’ve gone for a pair of Alphafly 3s for my next 1/2 marathon race
I have the structure 26s that just kind disappear on foot. Have also been enjoying bondi 9 as more cushioned option- is narrow at first, w/ warm upper.
If you just want a mileage workhorse, a Nike Structure 26 or Vomero 18 would be a good pick. They have higher drop (offloads calf), and at this point can be had for a pretty decent discount.
Nike structure wide Brooks glycerin wide or extra wide If you’re into trail running Altra lone peaks These are my favorite as someone that’s a 9.5 women wide.
I wear Men’s Structure - they are wider than women’s and fit me well!
I regularly see Nike Structure for 70-80, good stability so perfect for getting back into it
