I love my Vomero 17s! Prefer them over the 18s actually. Too bad I can't get them anymore. I should've bought a few pairs.
I'm not bringing much useful information here for you, but I ran my first two Marathons (4:26 and 3:58) about 8 weeks apart in the same pair of Nike Vomero 17s. They probably had like 300-400 miles on them at the time too, definitely not a fresh pair. They are still one of my favorite all time shoes for a daily trainer, but can't believe I did two fulls in them. But between not wanting to spend the cash and still being new to the hobby, i just figured why not If you take nothing else from my post, if you don't want carbons, you don't need em. Find a good pair that are comfortable and go smash it. Though, you're approaching those speeds where carbons would certainly help ya on race day
I retired a pair of Vomero 17s recently. I really liked them and was planning on replacing them with the Vomero Premium but I found the NB 1080s for $80 and couldn't pass them up.
6’3” 237lbs my rotation in Saucony Triumph long runs and easy miles. Nike Vomero 17 I have been using for more tempo runs. Not the designed purpose of the shoe but I generally just get daily trainers for my shoes since I wear them out so fast being heavier. I have the Adidas Adistar 3s for recovery runs. And I just retired my Gel Nimbus 26s. I run 6-7 times a week. I usually always take at least one day off and mpw is 45-55
Obsessed with my Nike vomero 17s
I actually liked the toe box on the Vomero 17 and wish they would have kept that.
I loved the Nike Invincible 2, went through a few pairs of Vomero 17s and 18s, but these seemed so narrow they gave me a blister on the outside edge below my big toe that took a couple of weeks to heal. I've been too afraid to put them back on again!
Second the Zoom Fly 6 suggestion. I have both the Vomero 17 and the Fly 6 and those two shoes complement each other. The Vomero is a durable, comfortable, daily trainer that I’ve found great for just eating up the “boring” miles. The Zoom Fly 6 has a little more pop, and is nice for intervals and faster paces or even longer distances, even if it doesn’t have the snappiness of the real race shoes like the Alphafly or Vaporfly. Of course its possible to run sub 2 hours HMs in either shoe, but the Zoom Fly 6 feel like they give you that little more.
Seconding the Vomero / Vomero Plus recommendation. Thick, durable, super comfortable. I put a ton of mileage onto my old pair (Vomero 17) and have now moved onto the Vomero Plus, with the 17 working as a super comfortable walking shoe that I occasionally take for easy runs when I feel like it.
Both are bad value shoes, Pegasus 42 is better. I had both, did 2 runs in each pair and sold them. I'll choose Velocity Nitro 4, Supernova Rise 3, Brooks Hyperion 3/Ghost 17 over them. Nike Vomero 17 is better than these two.
Vomero 17 is better, 18 and plus are quite bulky for faster pace run, honestly for fast runs the Zoom Rival Fly 4 (or Zoom Fly 6) are better options.
I bought a pair from stockX two months ago
