I love my Vomero 17s! Prefer them over the 18s actually. Too bad I can't get them anymore. I should've bought a few pairs.
I'm not bringing much useful information here for you, but I ran my first two Marathons (4:26 and 3:58) about 8 weeks apart in the same pair of Nike Vomero 17s. They probably had like 300-400 miles on them at the time too, definitely not a fresh pair. They are still one of my favorite all time shoes for a daily trainer, but can't believe I did two fulls in them. But between not wanting to spend the cash and still being new to the hobby, i just figured why not If you take nothing else from my post, if you don't want carbons, you don't need em. Find a good pair that are comfortable and go smash it. Though, you're approaching those speeds where carbons would certainly help ya on race day
I retired a pair of Vomero 17s recently. I really liked them and was planning on replacing them with the Vomero Premium but I found the NB 1080s for $80 and couldn't pass them up.
Nike Vomero plus. It’s hands-down the best all around shoe. Easy on the body when running on concrete too
6’3” 237lbs my rotation in Saucony Triumph long runs and easy miles. Nike Vomero 17 I have been using for more tempo runs. Not the designed purpose of the shoe but I generally just get daily trainers for my shoes since I wear them out so fast being heavier. I have the Adidas Adistar 3s for recovery runs. And I just retired my Gel Nimbus 26s. I run 6-7 times a week. I usually always take at least one day off and mpw is 45-55
I’m 6’3 242 and I have put over 300 miles on the Nike Vomero 17s. I can’t speak on the 18s they have gotten great reviews but haven’t worn them I hear they are softer. But from the outsole is wearing amazingly and they are still a great shoe I’ll try and get another 200 miles out of them if I can. I just picked up the Adistar 3 from Adidas they are only 52 bucks right not and they have been great so far too. And for 52 bucks to me they were worth a shot.
Vomero plus is hard to beat. I wish it had a tad more stability. I've had mine for a year and it's starting to feel more squish than bounce, but still pretty good after 400mi.
I actually liked the toe box on the Vomero 17 and wish they would have kept that.
I loved the Nike Invincible 2, went through a few pairs of Vomero 17s and 18s, but these seemed so narrow they gave me a blister on the outside edge below my big toe that took a couple of weeks to heal. I've been too afraid to put them back on again!
