Based on 1 year's data from Mar 23, 2026 How it works
Im close to same weight and went with vomero plus and absolutely love them but i did think about these as well. Maybe when they’re on ssle
I have the Vomero plus and it isn’t as friendly on the wallet as others BUT I have a ton of shoes and am realizing I can realistically do almost all of my training just in them. I’m 6’6 180ish lbs and they have been able to handle slower easy runs and up tempo stuff. It’s the most versatile shoe on the market right now as far as I’m concerned MSRP is 180 but Nike is starting to discount color ways so you may be able to find a pair at 150
Nimbus and Novablast seem too close for me to have both in the rotation. It wasn't always the case, but since Nimbus 26 and Novablast 4 it definitely is. If Novablast 5 loses their pop, they basically become Nimbus with not so high end upper. Maybe try Adidas Evo SL for extremely soft and bouncy midsole (though they are too unstable for me)? I personally preferred Saucony Endorphin Speed which have it all : durability, comfort, stability and some energy return. And they keep it lightweight and breathable. For Nimbus there are many alternatives. Mizuno Neo Vista (never tried it), Nike Vomero Plus (very plushy, but also unstable for me), New balance 1080 v14 (this is softness of Nimbus 25 with more Novablast bounce). Some where in the middle there is Hoka Clifton. In many ways it is like Novablast, but feels heavier and not as bouncy.
Nike Vomero. I have the 18 and plus. Both are great shoes. I use them for my easy or long runs.
Got some last week, they almost feel like cheating since the feet are protected so well. FWIW, coming from using the Invincible 3.
230lbs and obsessed with my vomero plus. Will consider these though once I’m up for another pair
Nike! Vomero Plus and Vomero 18 for easy runs. Pegasus Plus for speed.
It didn’t work for me. They were far too cushioned - to the point of loss of stability in my runs. I felt like it was effecting my strides. Giving more of a bounding sensation. I went back to the Vomero 18 for long runs and recovery and haven’t looked back.
Depends on pace tbh - I highly recommend the vomero plus as an upgrade from the vomero 18 generally, they’re happy at slower paces but far more springy if you need to pick up the pace. I do all my long runs in them, including some mileage at HM pace (4:30ish per km) and find them plenty quick enough. If you’re looking for something more aggressive, say for track intervals or 5k efforts, the obvious choice would be the zoomfly 6. I wouldn’t touch a race shoe, at your point in your running journey, personally
I’d say both have their place, but if you were only getting one, I’d choose the vomero plus at this stage in your journey We’re not a million miles apart pace wise, i ran my October half in 1:40 and am targeting 1:35 in February. I ran my October half in Asics Novablast 5 (daily trainer), and I’ll probably run my February half in the novablast again or the Vomero Plus. I’ve only been running around 12 months now, and my main priority is comfort and staying injury free.
I am in a similar position. I love the novablast and own and love the vomero plus - but I do definitely notice the weight beyond 25km. I am deciding between SB3 and Megablast for my April marathon (target 3:30) - I originally planned to run in the Vomero Plus which is more than capable of the pace (have ran plenty of tempo @ 4:30 per km in them), but I raced a hilly half recently (1hr 40) and the weight of the shoe really was really noticeable imo. I prefer a softer shoe so leaning towards SB3, but considering the Megablast. I am a lighter runner and my long runs tend to be slightly quicker than yours, so not sure if that changes anything. Vomero Plus is a great shoe for a lot of use cases, but I don’t think I’ll tackle a marathon in it.
I ran my October half in the Novablast 5 - I like them a lot. I used them for most of my training, and had multiple pairs last year - around October I purchased the Vomero Plus and this has all but replaced them for me. Im now in a marathon block and run a half or longer every weekend in the Vomero Plus, about 300km in and they’re still feeling box fresh. The Vomero plus feels more protective and stable to me, the Novablast is slightly less stack height and a touch more ground feel but still very cushioned. Neither are specific stability shoes though. Both are incredibly ‘fun’ to run in IMO, but the evo SL didn’t quite do it for me if that makes a difference. For reference I weigh around 55kg and Have taken both through easy runs (5:20 per km) and long runs with HM/MP efforts (4:30 per km).
Whatever is comfortable. I have flat feet, I run in neutral shoes. If you adequately strength train and don’t experience pain, pick anything that’s comfy, you’ll learn what does and doesn’t work but that’ll be based more of running mechanics, body weight, foot size/width etc than having flat feet. I currently run in Novablast 5 (Daily + Track), Vomero Plus (Easy + Long) and have yet to find my ideal racing or tempo shoes.
Would suggest Nike vomero plus. I've put nearly 1000km on mine
I've been having achilles issues for past months with v+ I changed to tight laces around heel and the issue has disappeared. I had them so loose as it felt comfier that way, I guess I was sabotaging myself
