I had a similar experience, started running in Zoom Fly 4s and did my first half without issues. Signed up for a marathon and wanted a rotation and a specialized running shoe shop recommended me Kayanos and half a size up. They were boring and meh … At the end, it’s all about trying and judging for yourself. Currently in happy with vomeros for easy runs, zoom fly 6 for longer runs and some Pegasus for intervals.
Nike Infinity Run might not be the most trendy shoe in the world but they last forever. I'm about to hit 1000km in my 1st gen pair (which I bought when they were first released in 2020? 2021?) and they feel as fresh as a brand new in box pair I bought last year. The FK4 have also been doing me really well this year and are currently sitting at about 400km and still feeling great, though I don't like the upper as much as the FK1.
“The influencer guy”🫠 Why don’t you just try running in them? I got a significant 5k PB wearing VaporFly 4s🤷♂️
That sounds like the shoe last shape is the main issue rather than your foot. The Ride and Vomero have a more forgiving midfoot shape while the Evo and Vaporfly both have a narrower and more aggressive arch area. If that area rubs even slightly over long distances it will blister every time. What to look for is a shoe with a wider or flatter midfoot platform and softer inner lining. Also check that the insole does not have a raised arch ridge that presses into the same spot. Sometimes swapping the insole from a shoe that works for you into a faster shoe solves it. Other things that help are thinner moisture wicking socks, a small amount of foot lubricant on that hotspot, and making sure the shoe is not tied too tightly across the midfoot. If a shoe works for short races but not long runs it usually means the shape is fine but the friction builds over time. In that case it is safer to reserve those shoes for shorter efforts only and stick to your proven trainers for long runs.
Running Shoes... I'm actually wearing my Pegasus Plus right now. It's great for walking around all day. I keep my Alphafly, VaporFly, Streakfly and Zoomfly for training and racing.
I’ve got both and prefer the Zoom Flys
Find one shoe you like and keep buying it. For me that’s Superblast, Gel Nimbus, and Zoomfly.
Nike zoom fly. Good balance of speed without ripping my feet apart like the alpha.
