I have both Zoom Fly 6 and Superblast 2. They’re both great to be honest, super durable (which was my main issue with Novablast 5), comfortable and perfect for HM distance. If I had to choose one I would probably say Superblast - they’re less suited for speed than the Zoom Fly but they will look after your legs better. Also way more versatile, I can reach for them for pretty much any run and they’ll do the job. Would have no issue using them on race day for any long distance. ZF6 I mainly use for harder efforts and at 6:30/km the plate probably won’t do much for you

r/beginnerrunningWhat running shoes do you have and what do you use them for?

I'm a heavy runner, currently 214lbs. Was 236lbs when I started back in December. Originally got a pair of Brooks Adrenaline and it was great but I was wearing it out quickly. I use it for walking now. I have a pair of Brooks Hyperion Max 2 that I use for Tempo and Base runs. Nike Zoom Fly 6 for Threshold and Race day. Nike Zoom Rival Fly for easy, base and treadmill runs. I was also a sneaker head before getting into running so I don't need any extra reasons to buy a new one lol. I do notice wearing different sneakers for each run has minimized my fatigue.

Depends on pace tbh - I highly recommend the vomero plus as an upgrade from the vomero 18 generally, they’re happy at slower paces but far more springy if you need to pick up the pace. I do all my long runs in them, including some mileage at HM pace (4:30ish per km) and find them plenty quick enough. If you’re looking for something more aggressive, say for track intervals or 5k efforts, the obvious choice would be the zoomfly 6. I wouldn’t touch a race shoe, at your point in your running journey, personally

I have them, and I'm a big fan. Fwiw I'm a relatively new runner, about 9 months in, but have always been fairly athletic so got up to HM ability reasonably quickly. Really nice heel cup so no slipping around, comfortable enough for long runs where I'm finishing faster. Genuinely really happy with them. I have Vomero 18s as my daily trainer which I'm a big fan of, they're stable and comfortable however long I want to go for. I'm about 90kg and naturally bigger built so the fact Vomero 18s are quite heavy doesn't really bother me. They're for most of my long runs and easy/recovery runs, which the Zoom Fly 6 wouldn't handle. Some people will suggest Vomero Plus and I think price wise on SportsShoes not a lot in it now. So yeah if you're planning on using them for tempo and faster runs as part of a rotation, fine, but if you want them as your only pair, I'd say no.

Started running at 250 lbs, 5’10”. Got about 600 miles on my Pegasus 38s. Bought another pair of 41s. Currently alternating between zoom fly 6 and Vomero 18. Gotta say that for the money the Pegs are very tough to beat- great comfort, performance, and they’re not $300 supershoes that you’ll be hesitant to take out in the rain. I’m a Nike nerd though- I Want to try some Superblasts and some Pumas at some point. Edit- I’ve also had some of the older New Balance runners and they were both comfortable and durable as hell, almost bomb proof. The plus for NB is you can find odd sizes and widths pretty easy, if you happen to have wide, narrow, large, or small feet.

Good advice. I recently did a 1:48 HM in a pair of Zoomfly 6s. They were comfortable and responsive enough. Think they are comparable to the superblast 2, though it seems the SB2 has a very vocal and passionate fan base 😁. They will probably be my next purchase!

Nike zoom fly 6 is what I'm in right now and it's awesome. Look them up, you'll see why.

I have tried them all. Metaspeeds, Alphaflys, Valorflys, Adios Pro. They all end up destroying my feet or Achilles. Zoom Fly 6 is the most perfect one for me. My feet don’t feel so much pain with them.

Speed work and daily miles? Use the NB5 for daily miles. Magic Speed 4 for tempo sessions. Speed work like on the track, I recommend the Zoomfly 6.

Find one shoe you like and keep buying it. For me that’s Superblast, Gel Nimbus, and Zoomfly.

Nike Zoom Fly 6? They work for my wide feet and are my tempo/threshold shoe.

r/AskRunningShoeGeeksFirst marathon shoe recommendation for 3:30 goal, coming from the Novablast 4
10 months ago

I am going to run my first marathon in about a month and I'm trying to decide on my race day shoes. I have been running on small stockpile of Novablast 4s for the last year or so. I really like these shoes as they can do everything, fit my feet very well and haven't given me any issues. My **PB for the half marathon is just over 1h 25m** (just over 4:00 / km). My **goal time for the marathon is 3h 30m** (just under 5:00 / km), which is probably not too ambitious. If I feel good after 35km, I might want to speed up. But while the NB4 carried me through these races reliably, I feel like I lose a lot of energy in these shoes. I am tempted to buy plated shoes, but I have a few quirks that make me unsure if that's a good idea: * I am a **heel striker**. (Though my outsoles are only worn in the front. Idk how.) * During a HM, my cadence is a fairly steady \~193 throughout the course. * I tend to prefer shoes that offer some **stability**. I've been told I have very minor pronation; not enough to warrant stability shoes. (So I stockpiled a couple pairs of NB4s as soon as I tried the softer NB5.) * I did a long run in the Nimbus a while back and it gave me really bad achilles/calf pain. I guess running on pillows is not good for me and my calves need strengthening. * I like the Asics fit. So I guess relatively narrow, but **'round' (not tapered) toebox**. Honestly, what I really want is a plated Novablast, but that doesn't exist (yet). I have shortlisted a few existing options: * Superblast 2: the safe choice? Seems like the obvious step up from the NB4. But very big, no plate and an 'illegal' stack height. * ~~Endorphin Pro 4:~~ tried this, returned them. Great shoe, but it just doesn't fit my foot shape. The toebox is too tapered and the rocker is very late. And while suitable for heel strikers, it doesn't offer much heel *guidance* due to the soft foam. * ~~Endorphin Elite 4~~: tried this because someone said it was stable. I found it very unstable below like 03:45 / km. I would do a 5K in them, not a marathon. * Adios Pro 3: seen conflicting reports. Some say it's a relatively stable plated shoe that is comfy enough for a full marathon. Others say the upper is incomfortable. Should I try them? * Asics S4+ Yogiri: Asics shoes have always fit me well. Unfortunately, this appears to be the only remotely stable plated shoe in the Asics line-up. I think it will offer a little more guidance than the EP4, as the foam is (presumably) firmer. * Zoom Fly 6: tried these. I found them relatively stable. They are narrow at the heel, but the foam is just firm enough for my weight. (65kg) They don't feel all that snappy, but the store only had a size too large. I'll wait for the right size to arrive. Since I am pretty unfamiliar with anything outside Asics and Saucony, I am asking here in the hopes someone has another recommendation that might be a good option for an efficient yet relatively stable marathon shoe for my 3:30 goal.

I just found a store nearby and tried the Zoom Fly 6. I found: * Surprisingly spacious (why does RunRepeat consider this a "restrictive” toebox?) * Comfortable upper * Pretty stable - more so than the SC Elite V4, which may be wider, but has really soft foam at the rear * Sufficient drop for heel strikers * Cheap compared to other plated shoes * They don't feel all that fast. They're happy at fast paces, but they don't really propel you like most plated shoes. Unfortunately they only had US 9.5 and 10.5. I think I need the 10. I'm gonna order the 10 now and see if that fits better and maybe a little snappier as well.

No, I'm surprised actually. Since they're relatively cheap I'm considering just buying them for half marathons. Not 100% convinced they'll be my marathon shoes though. I feel like they're quite squishy and I'm concerned they'll soften up over time or during long runs.

I think a sub 3 will possible in the future, but this is my first marathon. I've hyped up myself and everyone around me, so I want to finish it with a not shamefully slow time. :) EDIT: tried the SC Elite v4. It may be wide, but it's also really soft at the heel. Combined with the low drop, I don't think it's that great for heel strikers.

Nike zoomfly 6. I have narrow feet and might even be too narrow for me haha
