Agreed. When I started running back in the mid 90s it wasn't uncommon to hear people blame injuries on neutral shoes and not having enough stability. I wore stability models (Asics 2000 series, Nike Structure Triax, etc) thinking that they were safer choices than neutral shoes. I have been running in "neutral" shoes for years now without issue. Many of them feel as stable as the more hardcore stability shoes of the past.

Yes! But understand your running gate first. Note that there are various sites with great specials on shoes especially some older models. I, as an example, need a stability shoe and my go to shoe is Brooks Adrenaline GTS. If I go onto their website now they will have the latest and the previous year's model at a lower price. I've also recently purchase a pair of Saucony Guide runners and I'm supper impressed with it. I'm a huge Hoka fan but unfortunately my need for stability leans more towards what Brooks can offer me. I've also spent a few years in the the nike Zoom Structures which wasn't bad at all. I'm not a cloud fan, find them very hard but some people love them. Asics is neither good or bad - just not the brand I'll got to for stability. Happy Miles in your new journey!

When I started running, I was put in Asics by the local running shoe store experts. That shoe (GT 2000 3) for well in standard width even though I've mostly needed wide fit. Then my next pair was the same model in a wide fit, but somehow they were narrower than my first pair. For my next pair, I tried moving up to the GT 2000 6, also in wide fit. They were better, but still didn't feel as good as my first pair of Asics. For my daily wear shoes, I've been wearing Adidas and Nike wide fit for over 20 years. I've switched to Nike for my running shoes in the last 5 years. For me, the fit is much more important than the technology. I don't want to spend too much, so I'm probably using low to mid-tier running shoes, and I've tried several models that I rotate between. I've been rotating between Zoom Structure, Pegasus, Winflow, and Vomero since last August. The first two were from right before the COVID shutdowns in 2020, and then I didn't run for almost 3 years. After being much more consistent in my training, I'm between 300 and 400 miles on all 4 pairs and will need to replace them soon.
