No experience with Evo Sl. Have 3 pairs of Feidan 5's love them that much. Very versatile and poppy. The only other shoe I stocked up on like this was the OG Nike Invincible for my easy/long/recovery runs FWIW.
I picked these up today and did a double day with these going first on a 15km then 10km later on with the OG Invincibles (my second pair, my fav max cushion shoes of all time. Hated the third btw due to heel fit and dulled ride). I feel that those who liked the first version (and second too I’d guess, as the first two are more similar than different) will most likely get on with the Vomero Plus well, though with caveat being of course that I just got the Plus and my 1’s already have 150km or so on it. The fit in the heel is fixed from the 3 and is almost identical to the fit on the 1, and the underfoot feel of the last is very similar as well. Upper fit similarly, although Plus seems maybe tiny bit narrower in the toebox but it still didn’t cause issues for my slightly wide feet. Did not notice much difference in terms of breathability. In terms of the cushioning, the difference in forefoot cushioning is substantial, with Plus having a LOT more there - forefoot strikers will definitely appreciate this more than the 1. The ZoomX feel overall is different, however; the OG ZoomX had this very pleasant sink in then having this very natural energy return/bounce back as you lift off. The new formulation in the Plus still has the initial sinking in, but it almost feels like your feet hits something quite firm and refuse to sink further, then gives this abrupt propulsion forward… is the best way I can explain it. I would say this definitely makes the heel strikes more stable on the Plus over the Invincible 1’s, as 1’s heel can definitely sometimes feel unstable at times. Overall, it is definitely much more max cushion than the previous versions, with the 1’s now almost feeling more like a daily trainer by today’s standards. I’d call this the true evolution of the Invincible 1/2’s; had this Plus version been the Invincible 3’s, I feel that the 3’s would have been received a whole lot better than it was.
If only it was that easy. Buy the SUX5000. Sure it costs $300, but it's the absolute best long run shoe for every single runner. You have to actually like try them on and go for a run. My favorite is the NB Balos, but it may be too soft for you . I also do long runs in the Glycerin 22gts which I don't like much, but some people love them. This morning I ran in an old pair of SC Elite v3's which I love, but they still bite my ankles even after almost 200 miles. I loved the Triumph 20's, but some people oddly enough find them unstable. I loved the Nike Invincible OG, but they ruined it by the time the Invincible 3 came around. Some people actually liked the invincible 3. Point is don't obsess over reviews. Look at reviews, but then take a pair for a run and see how you like them. It's how they feel to you that is important.
The OG Invincible. It was so ugly, I almost felt too embarassed to go out of the house. They looked as though they'd been designed by a bunch of five-year olds. But as soon as I did, it changed everything for me. I basically did 95% of all my runs for the first two marathon blocks - including the races. They made me want to go out and run.
That's one of my favorites though I liked it from the very start (though v2)
I’ve found all the Nike line to be too unstable for me. Even the Invincibles require a lot of focus not to roll my ankle. I’ve tried a lot of brands and I’ve enjoyed Sauconys, Brooks, New Balance etc, but my current rotation is pretty much all ASICs or Adidas.
