Man everyone seems to love this shoe. I put a good 60 miles in them and did not feel the bounce everyone talks about. Just felt like a heavy brick to me… I’m a 130lb runner. Maybe my weight is the issue? My HR was always higher in them and my legs felt tired quicker. Couldn’t even get up to tempo pace without feeling like I was sprinting. I ended up selling them and the only other pair of shoes I sold early was the On Cloudmonster…
Highly recommend a high cushion. I started with Nike vomero but price jumped up so last 2 years cloudmonster from on is more affordable. I was 50 lbs more when I first started running 15 years ago and I had arthritis in knees
Personal experience: I have hoka speedgoat for winter and on cloud monster for summer. These are my preferred shoes. Before on it was Nike voromo for summer and Nike trail but I like these better. New Balance road runner gives blisters on arch of foot where sole is tethered on inner sole and New Balance fuel cells bottoms wear off too quickly from abrasion from road/ track.
I bought a few pairs of mizuno neovista in their Black Friday sale so I’ll be wearing those for most the year, they’re my long run shoe and anything a bit quicker they work for too, I love the rocker. I’m a big shoe nerd and working back up to 400k a month so have a fairly big rotation but tend to gravitate to the same ones. Generally use on cloudmonster if I wanna go real slow recovery, have old racers for track sessions/vo2 stuff, have some asics gt2000s I wear to work as my only black shoe and can get away with a small run in them too. (Don’t need stability shoes but I got gait analysis done too early- before I’d even developed any muscles to run- so now those will hurt my knees if I run more than 6/7k ish). I do think have two pairs, it’s better if you can give the foam a chance between runs if running daily, different drops will put the load on different parts to some extent- low drop= more lower leg, high drop more up to hips. For reviews check doctors of running not influencer based pages, and if you can- never buy a shoe full price. Everywhere has sales, and even if you want to support local- last years model is gonna be up to 50% cheaper.
I wear On CloudMonster. I know they are pricey but they are so worth it. I have been wearing them since 2022 and I just got me the new model for Christmas 2024 and they are even better. I have a lot of foot issues and these are the only shoes that have helped. My husband also wear them. One thing I do like is it does not affect my neuropathy. These are my go too. Hope this helps.
I like On and Brooks (both work well for my feet). Typically with the On shoes, I get about 500 miles per pair (I use Cloud Monster for easy days and Cloudflow for more aggressive runs). However, I can’t emphasize enough the other suggestions to go to a running store and have them help you find shoes that work for you. Most places will watch you walk and run, some will have you stand on a device that measures all sorts of stuff about your feet. However, it seems they all will bring out several models that *should* work for you and have you run around a bit in each trying to decide which feels best to you. I look at buying a new pair of running shoes like it is a little self pampering treat.
I wear ONs CouldMonster and Eclipse and they fit my wide barney feet. I've also had success with Salomon Ultraglide 2. I would definitely look into the drops on any shoe and make sure you find the right heel to toe drop for your stride. If you can get to a running shop they can help. My friend destroyed her achilles with Altras. I would be careful of the zero drop mania.
I’m wearing on cloud surfers right now at work in a clinic. I got them at a running swap meet. I would never in a millisecond run in them. Day to day, running errands, in a clinic, around the house, sure. But literally running, absolutely not. Some brands sell a lifestyle, others sell actual running shoes. (I know that last line was harsh and I’ve worn cloud monsters and I have a pair on Mach 2s I got as a pacer for a group that I wear sparingly. Like I said, fine, but I’m a new balance girlie. I’m on my 7th pair of fuel cell trainers and just tried sonic blasts from asics because the rep is an acquaintance and has been hyping them since TRE last year)
The PAF cloud monsters look pretty sweet too! These shoes made me not hate running anymore
Same. I love them too. But gosh they aren't durable!
Oh now I’m curious! Which shoe? I’m talking Cloudmonsters. The uppers and treads are in rough shape by 200km. Maybe it’s me?
Neither because I’ve tried both for running and they don’t work well for me. You need to go to a store and try stuff out.
