I run almost the same as you — massive pronation and feet pointed outwards owing to my high arches (hollow foot). Used to find some comfort in stability shoes (Nike Structure 25, ON Cloudrunner 2) but these aren’t really fast and I don’t get anywhere near my goals. Pulled the trigger on Evo SL’s recently and this was where I noticed how much my feet really pronate, and after running with the Evo SL’s I found that my ankles hurt post-run which I didn’t experience with my aforementioned stability shoes. I brought this up to a physical therapist friend and she recommended that I do exercises to strengthen my feet muscles first before buying shoes/insoles as these new shoes/insoles would basically be useless with my weak intrinsic muscles. The exercises included heel and toe raises, towel crunches, and forward/lateral lunges. Haven’t been able to run again for a few weeks but I have been doing these exercises twice a day. Hope this helps!

Thank you!! I was looking into exchanging the Cloudrunner 2 for the adrenaline GTS, but I’m not completely sure

I definitely have it while walking and noticed it while wearing them (the cloudrunners) around the house.

I have incredibly flat feet and have used the Hoka Arahi and they’re pretty good. Also use superfeet run insoles. I also use On Cloud Runner2 and think they’re better- but that’s just me. You may have a different experience based on comfort. Definitely give what ever you try sometime before traveling.

Puma Forever Run Nitro 2–mild stability but can definitely do uptempo work, it is a light shoe, too. I also like the ON Cloudrunner 2, not usually an ON fan, but the cushion in these is softer, not mushy and it provides mild stability too without being heavy.

First: the Cloudflyer 5 is firm, not only firm its almost hard. Its one of the firmest shoes on the market and I do know no person who would run in them. And its only stable because its firm... Still not nearly as stable as for example a Brooks Adrenalin GTS I Sold them once for running, cuz the customer wanted them so badly, 3 weeks later he purchased another pair, agreeing He should have listen to me that its too firm. Second: the Cloudrunner 2 is one of the few good ON shoes. Its moderately stable and one of the ON shoes that can do everything, also one of the few ON shoes which is not absurdly overpriced. It sits at a some what correct price point. Third: from the pictures its not visible if you overpronate or not. But you dont look bad without shoes. Dont ask Chatgpt for such things I had already multiple customer who made research with Chatgpt and it adviced a worse model almost every time. Dont over think it, you made not a bad purchase, ON is just a very special brand which often get smiled on, or talked down, for good reasons often. But you purchased one of the good shoes from that brand.

Adrenalin is more stable and probably more durable but the cloud runner 2 is defintely more comfortable and enjoyable. Since you are "only walking" I would go comfort and fun over extreme stability when it comes with reduced comfort. You made a good buy, and they look amazing!

For more “regular” thickness I like On Cloudrunner or Saucony Tempus

r/UltramarathonTrying to find shoes that will last longer
28 days ago

Hi! Im a 23 year old woman who has been running consistently for around 5/6 years. Ive run a few marathons and a few ultras as well as a ton of half marathons, 5ks, 10ks, short trail races, etc. When it comes to shoes I am not picky, ive had good luck with tons of different shoes. Im just wondering if there are any brands/models that are know for lasting longer. Im a broke med student and I feel like so many of my shoes get worn out very quickly, granted I live in a very snowy wet area and run through the winter. For reference im a slow runner (my marathon PR is barely sub 4, I run like a 1:49 half, and around a 22:30 5k). I am not injury prone, the only running injury ive had was some minor IT band pain one time when I accidentally wore a pair of shoes for 800+ miles. I have very high arches but they havent caused issues and I dont usually wear stability shoes. Shoes ive worn and liked: Brooks glycerin Hoka arahi (a few years ago, i dont like the current model) Hoka mach 5/6/and X Saucony kinvara Brooks ghost Brooks cascadia (my current trail shoes) Saucony ride Saucony glide On cloud runners (these were like 6 years ago though) Hoka speedgoat Tbh ive had great luck with all of these. Ive never really had blisters except for one time on a 20 miler in a downpour and one blister during a 50 mile trail race. Im really just trying to find a pair of shoes to try that will last longer than 400 miles. I will also add that im currently training for my 4th marathon and a 50k trail race. I do also wear my trail shoes for hiking since I cant stand hiking boots. I do have narrow feet so occasionally ive had some brands that are just too wide for me. Id really appreciate any recommendations!

I had Altra when I moved to Germany. I went to the local sports shop because I needed a new pair of shoes with all the walking I was doing. They do not sell Altras. So I tried the everyday on and omg they were heven. Then we go to a running store in a bigger city and I read all about the CloudMonsters that when I saw they had my size I asked my husband very nicely if I could have them. He said yes and happy anniversary. I was so excited. I had the Cloud Runner and those were very comfortable. I have high arches too but I have not rolled my ankles while wearing On’s.

r/runninglifestyleWould you buy Hokas or Clouds for running shoes, and why?

Neither because I’ve tried both for running and they don’t work well for me. You need to go to a store and try stuff out.

On Cloud! It’s the only show that works for me. I also have a wide midfoot. Hoka’s run too narrow.
