Currently: Megablast LR+workouts + up tempo daily ON Cloud Monster3 Hyper. Recovery +Daily + Long steady (SB3 should be here but the Monster is so much more fun, a definite sleeper) Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4 Race + workouts
If I have to pick only 3... Superblast 3 for recovery/daily (but also Cloudmonster 3 hyper LS, Vomero Premium, Magmax) Megablast for long run (but also SC elite v5, alphaflys on sale, DNE4) Fast R3 for race day/speed (No doubt here. maybe a second pair of FAST R3)
95kg down from 123kg, just did a 1:34 HM. I’ve got too many shoes, but here are the ones I always reach for: Easy miles: Puma Magmax, Nike Vomero Plus Daily: Cloudmonster Hyper LS(recent addition, somehow works really well for me even though I usually hate On shoes.) and EVO SL(5 pairs) Workouts/Long Runs: Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3/4, ASICS Megablast Race: Puma Fast-R3
Soft shoes in general don’t last as long, and bigger weights speeds up that process I think. You’ll see similar complaints with NB rebel v4(v5 seems better) or asics Novablasts. From my experience (~220lbs coming from 270ish), bouncy shoes that are not necessarily just sink-in soft are the nice middle ground. It’s easier to break into these shoes as heavier runners, where they gradually soften up without dying fast. Magmax OG is a great one, and I’m loving the superblast 3(over 2, although some reported they are not as durable as the v2) and the Cloudmonster 3 hyper Side note for knees and achilles: shoes are important but also only do so much. Resistance trainings last much longer than any shoes can help.
Expensive… but… the LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper is pretty darn stable, very light, and basically does everything you’d need. The Cloudmonster 3 Hyper (regular) is also pretty similar, just in a slightly less stack and normal shoe upper. It has less of an arch than the LS version though.
Hyperboost Edge or On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper. The CMH3 is a pretty perfect shoe. Good blend of soft/firm, decent weight, plenty of versatility.
I love my On Cloud Monster 3 Hyper! So good. Another recommendation is the Kiprun Kipride Max. The Kiprun is a steal for the price and very underrated.
Saucony triumph 23 very well padded wide size availabile, Saucony ride 19 is similar but softer very wide base and stable for easy run . Saucony azura more bouncy, rockered, tempo run. On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper bouncy, more protective than azura, more expensive. puma magmax nitro 2 most stable most protective, bulky, puma magmax nitro 1 is more firm and more rockered but tighter at midfoot and on sale now. Both are for easy runs. Nitro 1 more tempo run. Asics superblast 2 light , most breathable, do it all Last is Salomon aero glide 3, very protective, firm, stable, bouncy, non rockered great for easy runs . For dedicated stability shoes Saucony hurricane 25 and brooks adrenaline gts 25
With modern shoes, easily can get one shoe for easy day and easy/moderate long runs and have carbons for workouts, race day and hard long runs. You could even have two shoes, with multiples of each and you're good to go. 1. ON Cloud Monster Hyper - can do every type of run 2. Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite - workouts/marathon 3. Puma Fast-R3 - Workouts/marathon/preferred shorter distance racer
