Based on 1 year's data from Mar 23, 2026 How it works
The Fast-R3 fits similar to the Deviate Nitro 2 and Velocity Nitro 2: narrowish in the forefoot and a touch long, but not virtually unusable like the Deviate Nitro 3. I have run a half marathon in the FR3 and had no issues with my feet whatsoever.
Thanks for the detailed write up. I was a huge fan of the Deviate Nitro 1, ended up going through 4 pairs, but was not pleased with the Deviate 2. The 3 has been pretty good and the Elite 3 is absolutely top of the line, but I spend a lot more time in the trainer than the racer obviously. It seems like the Deviate 4 should work for me, but I worry about it being a "2" update: they added foam and took away the responsiveness of the 1 without really doing anything other than making it more bulky.
excellent. thanks for the "sneak peak". The Deviate Nitros have been a favorite since the first version. Wasn't that big a fan of v2, but v1 & v3 have done great for me. Will be curious to see what they change from the 3 to the 4.
You may be blessed with a very neutral gait. And possibly because of your lifting your ankles may be quite strong and stable. I’ve felt unstable in all sorts of shoes until I guess my feet worked out the shoes. Deviate Nitro 2, Triumph 21, adidas SL2, endorphin speed 3. I supinate - one meaning all my shoes wear out on the outside of the sole. Secondly since I land on the outside of the foot I probably put most pressure on the un-stable parts of the foam until I figure out how to adjust to the shoes.
Puma. I have a pretty narrow foot and my Deviate Nitro 2s are the narrowest running shoes I’ve ever had. I’ve run in both ASICS and Mizuno too. Nike can be pretty narrow as well.
I'm a flat footed heel striker and I use Saucony Endorphin Pro 3's, and will most likely get the 4's when the time comes. They are pretty stable and have a fairly wide fore foot and heel area. Can't change the insoles on the 3's but believe it's possible on the 4's. I use Currax insoles in other neutral shoes that I have (Puma Diviate Nitro 2 and 3)
I like them, have three pairs of the 2 and one 3. The 3 is a narrower fit but the sole is the same width as the 2, but it does have a higher stack and is noticably more softer/bouncy than the 2. Only recently started using the 3 so save that for fast work outs. I use the 2's for the same but also good for slow runs too. Grip is great on the Puma's too, better than my Asics GT2000-12 (all my Asics!) and NB Vongo V5(?) actually better than every other brand I own. I do want the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 but worry about stability in those. Grip on the Saucony EP3 isn't great when it's damp/wet/muddy either, slips when pushing off and it all adds up to time lost.
Heavy runner (100 kg) looking for a new daily trainer. I've had the last few 1080s and they're fine but "flat" compared to the current competition. The 1080v15 (oct 2025) is supposedly all new with an ATPU foam. I also have the Triumph20 and Puma DN2 (great fit). For now, I'm looking at the Glycerin Max (too soft?), Salomon Aero Glide 3, Superblast 2 (not fast enough to "unlock") and the Magmax. The Puma Magnify 3 looks interesting but might as well go for the Magmax.
Their lifestyle shoes mostly run narrow, but not their running pairs. I have 2 DN2s, 1 DNE2, 1 MagMax, and 1 Fast-R2. All fit my normal feet fine. (And by 'normal,' I mean they fit any pegasus pair with zero space issues.) If anything, all that's needed are just thinner insoles if your feet are wider than mine.

I have DN2, what would you recommend it then? Ran 3x 21KM in them :)
How's does the magmax compare to the ASICS Nimbus? I have the Nimbus 25. My previous long run shoe was the Novablast 4. I also have the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 which I love, so I'm keen to try a Puma long distance shoe.
Puma DN2 would be the answer all day long some time ago. Today, I'd probably pack the nimble and fun Adidas Terrex Agravic Speeds (non-ultra version) - one of the things scarce reviews never mentioned is that they're great even for longer paved sections, as the lugs don't really get in the way somehow.
