Based on 1 year's data from Mar 23, 2026 How it works
Ive been using puma deviate nitro wtr and in muddy devon roads it grips great
Puma Deviate Nitro 3 - Running shoe that is also the flagship product for Hyrox. Designed as a super trainer and can handle slower paces all the way through to the faster stuff. Nitro Foam is also much more robust than a PEBAX(spelling?) based sole and the puma grip works well across all surfaces even in the wet.
Puma R3 - competition Puma DNE3 - speedwork (comp. before R3) 2 x Puma DN3 - Tempo up to 10k-ish pace (got 2 pairs 'cuz double threshold days) Puma velocity - easy <- wouldnt buy again, DN3 - better fast dailytrainer, magmax -better easy shoe IMO Puma Magmax - easy & recovery i use the DN3 / DNE3 as trailshoe, IMO somewhat casual-competative trailrunning gets too fast for normal trailshoes if trails are not technical.
puma DN3, is plated but more ridgid & a little more supportive. also has a more resilient foam. i get \~700km out of a pair. its the dailytrainer&tempo version (and labeled as a faster dailytrainer rype of shoe) of the DNE3.
Puma especially since they now have the top-of-the-list raceshoe aswell at the moment. everything is just 20-30% cheaper then the competition, stuff is durable, grip is good. the only real lack in puma was a high-end supershoe for very fast people, but that has been solved with the r3. magmax is a good max-cushion, velocity is a good dailytrainer, you have the plated dailytrainer with DN3 that is durable for like 600-800km. DNE3 is good enaugh for me for non-technical competative trailracing and shorter races where i dont want to grind away the moneys-worth of my R3's. the only thing missing is a good trailshoe for very technical hiky-type of trails.
The Fast-R3 fits similar to the Deviate Nitro 2 and Velocity Nitro 2: narrowish in the forefoot and a touch long, but not virtually unusable like the Deviate Nitro 3. I have run a half marathon in the FR3 and had no issues with my feet whatsoever.
Thanks for the detailed write up. I was a huge fan of the Deviate Nitro 1, ended up going through 4 pairs, but was not pleased with the Deviate 2. The 3 has been pretty good and the Elite 3 is absolutely top of the line, but I spend a lot more time in the trainer than the racer obviously. It seems like the Deviate 4 should work for me, but I worry about it being a "2" update: they added foam and took away the responsiveness of the 1 without really doing anything other than making it more bulky.
excellent. thanks for the "sneak peak". The Deviate Nitros have been a favorite since the first version. Wasn't that big a fan of v2, but v1 & v3 have done great for me. Will be curious to see what they change from the 3 to the 4.
If you want something na responsive yet comfortable is perfect na iyang [Puma Deviate Nitro 3](https://s.shopee.ph/4VSswPzKvH). But if want mo ng mas cushioned is go for [Asics Novablast 5](https://s.shopee.ph/4VSswZvQzr). The difference is not that much naman for me between carbon-plated and non-carbon-plated shoes, mas important talaga comfortability for performance.
Yes SB2 definitely faster. I got rid of the 1080s. Didn't like them. There was no circumstance I'd wear them over either NB5 or SB2 so I got rid of them. There are many random shoes that have some special place where once in a month I might wear them (puma deviate nitro 3 for example, or nike zoom fly 6), but 1080s were completely replaceable by NB5/SB2
I also overpronate a little and ran 2 HM in the Brooks Hyperion GTS 2... a very light and fast shoe but depends on your preferences if the cushioning is enough for you for that distance. Still a great shoe for 5k or 10k. Wouldn't use it for longer than HM, though. Regardless of that, maybe stable neutral shoes also work for you as for me? I have no issues in Asics Superblast 2, Puma Deviate Nitro 3. I hear the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 are also quite stable. I also ran HM distance in Brooks Hyperion Max 2 (not my favorite, too stiff and unstable. Liked it for 10k but found better options now), Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 PB (very comfy, bouncy and fast, but not a stability shoe, so not very stable, still enough for me)
I use endo pro for running, never tried on hyrox. I feel as they have really poor grip, if compared with deviate nitro 3, which I use always for hyrox. Just a feeling or is it true?
I'm a flat footed heel striker and I use Saucony Endorphin Pro 3's, and will most likely get the 4's when the time comes. They are pretty stable and have a fairly wide fore foot and heel area. Can't change the insoles on the 3's but believe it's possible on the 4's. I use Currax insoles in other neutral shoes that I have (Puma Diviate Nitro 2 and 3)
I like them, have three pairs of the 2 and one 3. The 3 is a narrower fit but the sole is the same width as the 2, but it does have a higher stack and is noticably more softer/bouncy than the 2. Only recently started using the 3 so save that for fast work outs. I use the 2's for the same but also good for slow runs too. Grip is great on the Puma's too, better than my Asics GT2000-12 (all my Asics!) and NB Vongo V5(?) actually better than every other brand I own. I do want the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 but worry about stability in those. Grip on the Saucony EP3 isn't great when it's damp/wet/muddy either, slips when pushing off and it all adds up to time lost.
