3 is super hard. I really want 4- tempo, easy/daily, long, race Trinity 1- Nike ZF6, NB 1080v15, Hoka Mach x3 Trinity 2- NB elite v5, Hoka Mach x3, Mizuno sky 9 However, I just got the new puma deviate pure and I think it’s going to take a key position in my rotation
They are SO nice!!
I’m going to take them out tomorrow. Chatted with another runner on my route today because I saw him wearing them and he said he was really loving them.
Pure’s are great man I’m loving them! Only got like 10 miles into them as I’m just using them for speed work. Super lightweight, unmatched outsole grip, decently bouncy but nothing mind blowing. They are less propulsive than say an EVO SL, but way more comfortable. Yeah Peg 42 is super basic, they’re totally different shoes. Pegs have very little energy return and are heavy, which like I said makes them the perfect honest shoe. What else makes them perfect for that role is they have only 27mm foam in the forefoot, they’re comfortable, great grip and are insanely durable.
Adios Pro 4, Superblast 3, Xiaonian/Deviate Pure
I'm trying to break 3:30 and I don't have super super shoes, but I do have ones with carbon (mostly cause I'm cheap and there is no way I'm spending over $300 on a pair of shoes). So I'm rocking the Puma Deviate Nitros and yes it does help me go faster, but not tons but still makes a difference cause the first marathon I ever ran was in Brooks Launches - a very neutral shoe that wasn't very forgiving, but it was light. Anyways I think it's worth it if you are trying to hit a certain goal and shave off minutes because I do know that it will give you about a 2% bump in production. Note - I noticed someone said the zoom fly 6 in the thread - I tried them and they absolutely wrecked me every time I ran in them, not sure why I wanted to like them, but dang my calves were so sore afterwards.
I have both and the Magnify isn't as narrow as the Velocity/Deviate. If you have wide feet though I'd probably skip Puma altogether as people often find it problematic. The Foreverrun Nitro 2 isn;t as narrow either.
I think Adidas Boston 13 is pretty good. Very stable, good grip, not narrow on toe box and offers good energy return but not too soft like the Evo SL. My favourite are still Puma Velocity 4 and the Deviates but they are for the narrow feet. Though the Deviates 4s that are coming out will be wider than the 3s so worth having a look as well I reckon.
Totally agree on the treadmill point. Actually, I’ve found that lots of performance trainers (Bostons, Deviates, Magic Speed) work really well on the treadmill, with the only downside being that they are louder.
Superblast 2 or deviate nitro
I'm the same weight as you but run a lot faster. I have no issues with plates and I would think I hit the ground harder but also have less ground contact time. I'm not sure
