Well if you want to go all out on your budget then Puma MagMax 2. It's wider than the Velocity Nitro 4 and can do your daily runs and longer runs and has the the grippy PumaGrip too. It will have everything you need for your half marathon training except speed sessions since while Nitro foam is bouncy, it is offset by its bulk. Edit: For badminton shoes you're going to need a different one. You need firm stable shoes for the sudden direction changes you're going to be doing during badminton and running shoes with their often soft foam isn't going to be good for your ankles
Neither are very cushioned but out of all of the speed based shoes I’ve tried and I’ve tried a fare few endorphin speed 4 and sonic blast the latter I’ve been very surprised about feels slightly firm at the heel but I find them excellent for tempo and have not had any niggles injury wise also the magmax 2 is a great cushioned option which you can pick up the pace a little in
I just picked up the Magmax 2 to complement my Evo SLs and eventually be my dedicated long run shoe. The midsole is really fantastic, perfect mix of bounce and firmness for a regular mileage shoe. Very stable. Grip has been really solid in some snowy and icy conditions. Upper is just ok, not the best lockdown for me but nothing major.
I think it’s all dependent on personal preference. I tend to like a little bit more cushioning and moderate support and i pronate a bit. I’m using the NB 860 v14 and they’ve been great. I’ve also just picked up the Puma Magmax 2 and put in some mild support insoles. They’ve been great. Very cushioned and provide enough cushioning for me knees. I would suggest going to a specialty store and try them all on.
I just picked up the Puma Magmax 2 and I’d highly recommend for your easy/recovery days and even the long runs at steady paces. Great bounce and a wide toe box. They did shave some weight from V1 so there is a bit more versatility now.
I’m not a wide size in any shoe but the fit overall is on the wider side IMO. Especially compared to V1. The upper is a bit different adding more comfort
Love my puma magmax. I got the V2 and they’ve been great!
Our paces are not too far apart for easy miles, and there are a few shoes I’d recommend. For pure easy daily miles & easy long runs, I’d highly recommend the Puma Mag Max 2 or the OG Glycerin Max. These two were not in your radar, but these shine for the intended purpose you plan to use your next shoe for the 70.3 training. Both are comfortable, are tanks, and can just build mileage without you thinking about it for your current paces. Now to move closer to the shoes that are currently on your radar…I have all, but the Superblast 3 so I can’t fully recommend it just off reviews. I had the Superblast 2, and while it was stable and supportive, it felt like a brick, and I felt like I was fighting the shoe at easy paces. I would avoid the Megablast completely. It is not an easy shoe. It’s quite aggressive and it just doesn’t feel the best for easy days. I prefer it for speed days, or long runs where you’re picking the pace or doing workouts within the long run. This leaves us to the Vomero Plus. I would recommend this out of your current prospects, because while it can pick up the pace, it’s very comfortable and bouncy for the easy days, but it can still handle some slightly faster paces. Very versatile if you ask me. Another close shoe to the Vomero Plus would be the R.A.D UFO, which was my fav shoe of 2025. It’s very soft, crazy bounce, great grip, and still quite stable due to its wide base. Highly recommend and would choose that over the Vomero Plus if you’re open to other options. Coming back to the SB3, while it’s not available yet, the reviews give me the vibe that it would be a similar ride to the Vomero Plus/RAD UFO. Those three shoes sound like they all plan to fit the intended purpose of a max cushion shoe, that is comfortable, can handle easy paces while going the distance. Hope this perspective helps and good luck on your training.
Puma Magmax2. I really love those shoes. So comfortable and legs saving when going slower but bouncy and responsive when picking up the pace.
My like my actual rotation which is: Recovery: NB 1080 v14, Puma Magmax2 Daily: Mizuno Neo Zen, Asics Novablast 3 Longrun: Puma Magmax2, Brooks Glycerin Max 3 Speed: Saucony Endorphin Speed 5, Adidas Evo Sl Trail: LaSportiva Prodigio, Hoka Challenger 8 I plan on getting a peoper Raceday shoe soon (maybe Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 or Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4) and a faster trail shoe (LaSportiva Prodigio Pro) Been running since september but pretty happy with my rotation💪🏻 Z2 pace 5:30-6:00/km , recovery 6:30/km, Intervalls 3:45-4:30/km
Puma Magmax2, I absolutely love them and hardly want to put any other shoe on my feet (except for workouts)
I have all of these shoes and agree with you 💯. Glideride max2 is a hidden gem. Puma magmax nitro 2'is great for the price. And yeah megablast is just a fantastic shoe. You can't go wrong with any of these.
Puma is doing something ridiculous where they don’t sell the US 12.5 themselves but they do distribute them. I’ve bought the velocity nitro 4, deviate elite 3 and magmax 2 all in US 12.5 / EU 46.5 through other retailers in Europe. Annoyingly the fit is also different across all of them. From the 3 the deviate elite 3 has the best fit, velocity next and magmax 2 the worst fit. The big toe area curves in somehow and I just fell it when standing or going slow.
