194cm 82kg here, 97min HM PB. The Saucony EP4 is lightweight, stable and safe but I found it a little dead/unexciting. I’d expected to like it more as I enjoyed the EP1 a lot. Have you thought about the Hoka Rocket X3? They are next on my list to try.
Glad you asked. I just started running again 6 months ago. We are same height and weight too. I’m 48. My last 10k I ran was also a 54 min effort. Here is my rotation: Fast tempo runs and intervals: Brooks Hyperion 2 and some old Saucony Endorphin Pro 1’s. These are lower stack and lower to the ground and light weight and fast. Perfect for fast efforts under a 10-15k max distance. I’m going to get a pair of the Hoka Mach X2 for this category as well. My everyday runners for most of my regular runs: I have two pairs of Saucony Endorphin Shift 3’s and a pair of TYR Valkyrie Speedworks. I had a pair of Salomon Aero Glide 3’s that fit this category as well. Those were some really fun soft daily trainers—the Salomon’s that is. I’ve got a pair of Adidas SL2’s that will fall into this category on the way from the current Adidas sale that’s going on. For my long runs over 10 miles or for my slower recovery runs: SuperBlast 2 and I had a pair of Brooks Triumph 22’s, but I’m going to be getting a pair of the Hoka Mach X2’s that I will use in this category as well possibly. Also the Puma MagMax Nitro is on my radar. I also just bought a pair of the Adidas Supernova Prima to try for this long run category as well. When I started running 6 months ago I was running in a pair of the Brooks Glycerine 21’s and did every run in them. They were fine for that but once I started adding some different shoes into the mix I started learning the value of having a shoe rotation. Jump on YouTube and find a guy named Yowana. He’s a pretty sharp guy who runs a lot (100+ miles a week) who has a knack for doing good shoe reviews and he’s also interesting to listen to him talk so I suggest finding his channel and checking out some of his shoe reviews. He’s a wealth of running shoe knowledge and experience.
I would recommend asking yourself whether you really need stability shoes. I also pronate (flat feet), but I haven't had any injuries from this. I stopped wearing stability shoes when I became better and found out there isn't a fast stability shoe. Anyway, the endorphin speed and pro work great for me.
I second this. I don’t wear a wide but I have wider feet and these have been my go to. The endorphin pro are ok but B12 feel more stable
From my experience saucony endorphin pro has the most stable foam/heel area of any carbon shoes i have used
I’ve been going through my own search for a race day shoe. I ended up with Endorphin Pro, as recommended below by several people. Took it for a test spin and it is just fine in 8-9 minute pace (120lb woman). That said I am running my own HM race today and have opted into wearing my trusty Endorphin Speeds which I know will be fine for me even if I tire and slow down a bit the last mile or two from my planned pace. Going to see how the pros work in a 5k/10k before potentially using them in a HM race later in the season. Also considered for today’s race the NB SC Trainer, which I genuinely like a lot, but the Endorphin Speeds are just faster in my opinion. The Trainer is a pretty forgiving shoe - not uncomfortable even at warm up / cool down paces. They are a bit redundant with the Speeds in my rotation but I got a great deal on them! I for one am fully invested in this ridiculous bet and hope you post the outcome in a few weeks!
I'm a woman and rotate Asics novablast for long runs and Saucony Endorphin Speeds for speed work/tempo. (I also have a pair of Hoka torrents for trails and some Saucony Endorphin pros for races)
Saucony endorphin pro, very happy, shoes arrived too close to race day and didn’t have much time to test them anyway went with them and don’t regret it. Only thing I regret is being too careful and not pushing more
If you already like the Endorphin Speed, the **Endorphin Pro** is probably the easiest transition into a carbon shoe. The geometry is very similar, just a bit snappier and more race-oriented. Other really popular options right now are the ASICS Metaspeed series and the Adidas Adios Pro line. They’re all great racing shoes, but they feel a bit different depending on how you run. For your distances (5k to maybe half marathon), pretty much all of the modern carbon racers will work well. The main thing is finding one that feels natural with your stride.
I‘m about 230 (105kg) and my HM PB Pace is 4:56/km. I feel like I get a lot of benefit out of my Saucony Endorphin Pros, I‘m noticeably faster with them.
