I wouldnt wear them for easy runs i feel like you need to pick the pace up for them to be properly comfortable, keep them for faster sessions and long runs thats where they shine

Finally, someone other than me that noticed this. Saucony nerfed the plate and foam in the Speed 2. I had the OG and the plate was stiffer and the foam had ever so slightly more energy return to it. Turn-over was snappier. With the first gen shoe, no one was buying the Endorphin Pro, because there just wasn’t much difference in the performance. Saucony nerfed version 2 to create a little more separation between the Speed and Pro. For me, the 2 was a bit more relaxed for daily runs and the OG was a budget racer. I still have 2 pair of Speed 2s that don’t get much run time in them. They’re just not as fun as the original.

It’s a lot of shoe for 5-10km. If it were me, I’d look for something lighter and more versatile. Will this be your only shoe for running? Will you be racing in them or considering more speed work than just a few sprints? You might be better off with a lightweight daily trainer that can handle a good mix of running, like Novablast 5, Evo SL, Boston, Saucony Endorphin Speed. Vomero is a great shoe but is better used for longer distances (over 16km) where you might occasionally pick up the pace. Though, not saying you can’t use it as a daily trainer. There are just better options.

I haven't put more than 200 miles on any pair of Nikes. Every pair of Mizunos I've owned have lasted 350-400 miles and I put 500 miles on my Saucony Endorphin Speed 1s (best shoes ever). I am quick to retire my shoes when they no longer feel fresh and/or my runs feel hard for no other reason. I retire my carbon plated shoes (Saucony Endorphin Pros) at 200 miles. Most of my shoes are Saucony; they fit me well and last the longest by far.

Hello I can’t seem to find a nice and slightly durable (probably can last 600k? or 1-2 seasons of workouts) shoe for longer track workouts. This pair will be used for the long tempos (3:45/k), intervals, and reps down to 5K pace at around 3:00-3:05/k. It doesn’t need to have a plate but I hope for some kind of pep in step and bounce with some firmness for the faster reps. I have tried these shoes: 1. Nike Vaporfly 2 - Firm and nice cushioning. I really like these but the shoe falls apart really easily in my humid country. Rain shreds the sides of the midsole. 2. Nike Vaporfly 3 - Same as VF2 but softer cushioning. I really prefer this shoe for my workouts but the shoe fails really easy. 3. Asics Magic Speed 3 - Felt overly firm (which I don’t really enjoy) but fast reps feel nice. 4. Li-Ning Feidian 5 Challenger - Slightly better than the Magic Speed 3 in terms of cushioning but hoped for more cushion underfoot. 5. Dynafish Xiaonian - Perhaps got a wrong size because my foot was swimming in the upper even when I got 1/2 size down. Difficult to go fast in the really soft foam. 6. Xtep 160X 3.5 Pro - Probably got the wrong size as it was really tight. Really nice and responsive but didn’t have any allowance for slower reps. (Basically the same as a Nike Streakfly but thick and bouncy. Becomes quite blocky on bad days.) 7. Endorphin Speed 1/2: Really nice shoe for tempo and faster stuff back in the day but the new versions (v3 and v4) seems lacking. 8. Adidas Takumi Sen 10: Nice as a trainer but the shoe feels bottom heavy for some reason. 9. Qiaodan Plaid 1.5: Nice and cushioned for the longer tempos and slower intervals. Becomes chunky and blocky and difficult to run with at faster paces. 10. Nike Streakfly 2: Really good for shorter reps. Light and fast. Cushioning abit lacking on longer reps. Durability is not really good. I’m thinking of using the Streakfly 2 for faster paces (5K and under) but I cannot find something that I like for broken up tempos/thresholds and longer tempo work at 5K pace and up. Are there any shoes that are worth trying out in the current market? Or are there any shoe that you have tried that you are satisfied from faster workouts? Thanks!

Either you do or don't yet have the stabilizer muscles for the Evo SL. The newer versions, Evo SL Woven and now Exo, are supposedly slightly more stable. If not Evo SL, the firmer Boston series, 13 or especially the older 12, are plenty quick and capable. Boston 12 is up there with older Endorphin Speeds as shoes I get the best results from. But your mileage may vary.

I still have a pair of the og Speed 1, fastest shoes I own. Enjoy Speed 3 as a trainer, tolerate Speed 4 but it has a bit more traction, useful in wet conditions.

I prefer firmer shoes, so our tastes may differ. Saucony Endorphin Speed or Azura, Adidas Boston 12 or 13, are best for me. Someone mentioned Mizuno. Their Wave Rider 29 is a very good all-rounder, probably better for a newer runner than the above. Puma Velocity Nitro 4 and Nike Vomero Plus are too narrow for me, but both are good shoes. For longest lasting-- Asics Superblast 2, now on sale for $150 now that the 3 is out. But go to Asics site and get the welcome code, bringing them down to $135.

I use the Clifton 10 for easy/recovery runs. Most of the other Hokas are 5-drop and narrow, neither my preference. I also find Nikes and most Pumas too narrow. The only Adidas I like are the Boston 12/13, absolute bangers for intervals and hills repeats. Mainly run in Saucony Endorphin Speed, occasionally Ride 18. A few Brooks as well- Hyperion gts2, etc. Race day- New Balance SC Elite v4.

For a light-ish shoe that's versatile for easy days as well as quicker, I have enjoyed various Endorphin Speeds. Fairly mellow with the nylon plate, but propulsive for leg turnover. Others might prefer more cushion, but I find the Speeds give back when I'm not 100% and need that extra push.
