I got the 15 pretty cheap at a Winners here, and while I'm normally a Kinvara guy, they were nice and light and good for easy days.  Then I got the 17 to replace them. Clunky and heavy, they're no fun to run in. I still use them for long runs in case that extra cushioning actually helps, but I don't enjoy them. I'm back to Kinvaras for almost all my runs.

If Saucony works for you, Rides maybe? Light, 8mm drop, stable. They're firm not plush but I use them for long runs and easy days.

Peaked at the 15 though. The move to the 'fancier' foam in the 17 actually made that shoe my least favourite shoe ever and I'm a huge Saucony fanboy. ETA... Think I'll take them out for a spin tonight - just a short social club run.

Saucony Ride 15 were my daily runner for years, and I'm now on the 18 because I couldn't get the 15 anymore. Both great shoes that have carried me hundreds of miles.

Why did I never think of checking Amazon?? Ugh, I've been overpaying for my Saucony Rides for years. I guess it's good to support local businesses, though.

I'm on my fourth pair of Saucony Rides. This year I went back to an older model because I liked it better.

everybody seems to be raving about the evo sl, kinda tempted to grab a pair and work it into a rotation. i've been fond of saucony the last few years - ride is a good work horse, endorphin speed is a good everyday/speed work hybrid.

I can vouch for the Ride, very reliable shoe (although I’ll always wish they brought the triumph line back to 8mm)

Been buying rides since my ride 4 or 5. Never had any issues, you cant go wrong with that model. Just bought the speed 4, since everyone was raving about it but honestly, i prefer my rides.

Last ones i got where ride 14, 16 & 17. 17 upper seems looser to me than previous versions and also wider in the front. But im sure it’s just a feeling. Never had issues during running where i felt i had to thighten the laces or loosen them up a bit. As for your bunion, the Ride also comes in a wide version, do maybe check those out if needed

Any running shoe worth having will start at $100 at least unless it’s a past model on sale (which may be 80 or 90 if it’s a good deal). I’d suggest a Saucony Ride or Brooks Ghost to start, both are pretty traditional shoes that a lot of people tend yo do well with. You can definitely find past models on sale. Goong to a running store to get recs is a good idea but I think it’s overkill as a new runner. I do recommend going somewhere with a good return policy (ie REI or Fleet Feet).

Saucony Rides have been very good for me. 215lbs here. And they'll last a while.

6'1, 215 lbs currently. Saucony Rides have been good, and they last a long time.

My gait is about the same as yours. I’ve reliably run in New Balance 880s or 1080s for a couple years now. I do about 1,000 miles per year. I have Hoka Cliftons which I truly bought for the hype, but I don’t enjoy running in them so they’ve become walking/casual shoes. Before my New Balance years, I ran in Saucony Ride and Triump. Also good shoes! Most $100+ shoes these days from known brands are really solid and will serve you well for 300-500 miles.
