r/Marathon_TrainingFolks who are in the 3:45-4hr range- what shoes did you wear in your last race and are you happy with that choice?

I PR'd my second marathon yesterday by 32 minutes in Saucony Triump 21 Runshields because it was forecast to pour rain for more than half the race. I was planning on running this race in Saucony Endorphin Speed 5s if it were dry weather. My first marathon was in Vaporfly 3s and I experienced the same foot fatigue it sounds like you did. I don't think I'll race any distance longer than a half marathon in them.

Came here to say this - Triumph 20/21s were SO exceptional (especially for those of us who need a firmer sole for PF). Unfortunately, the 21s are essentially sold out everywhere. Hoping Saucony brings back something similar!

Same boat. Here are the best after extensive trials: Salomon aero glide 3 (grvl more durable)  Saucony triumph 21 (hard to get) Adizero Evo SL  Adizero SL 2 Saucony endorphin speed 3

Saucony for me, completed my first marathon in ES4's and did my first 50km yesterday in Triumph21's both times my feet held up really well. Not to mention I love my EP2's and just bought some Endorphin elite 2's

Saucony for me, there shoes just seem to be right for me. Endo speed, Endo Pro and Triumph are all favourites. And kinvaras have also been favourite of mine

The Triumph 21 was so good. Not in a "wow these are exciting!" way, but in a "I can just put them on and not think about it no matter how many miles I do or don't run" kind of way. Just never had a shoe quite like that. It just chewed up miles. The Triumph 23 is fine, but doesn't disappear on my feet quite like the 21 did. The Vomero 18 is sliding into its place in my rotation lately.

Did a bit over 400 on my 21s. They're not totally retired, but are losing their magic a bit. I'm 200-ish pounds and run fast for my size, so they've had hard use. I know people tend to get more out of them usually, but I'm just one of those whose style is hard on shoes. My 23s are still new - just got them a few weeks ago, but haven't been out much since I got them due to being sick and nursing an angry hammy. Only have like 10mi on them so far.

21 is PWRRUN+ vs the new PRRUN PB, - just feels a bit different overall, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Though it's a bit tough to do apples-to-apples since my 21s have so many miles and it's tough to recall exactly how they felt when they were brand new. But overall, I'd say the 21 had a bit more "plush" feel to them, which I now get out of my Vomero 18s. The Triumph 23 is more responsive, so I think will be better for when I'm after a bit faster pace.

I'm down to 195 from 210 a few months ago - but run fast paces for my size. The Saucony Triumph 21 was my GOAT daily trainer, but the 22 and 23 just weren't the same. RAD UFO, Vomero 18 and Vomero+ are my current go-tos (in that order). All three have been very, very good to me so far.

I was in your same position last year and opted for the Saucony Triumph 21. Got about 160 miles on them now and can confidently recommend.

the best shoe from recovery runs Ive used till today are the saucony triumphs 20 and 21. maybe you cand find some pairs in outlets or on websearch. they are versatile, you can increase the pace if you want without problems. I bought 2 pairs of each because I rly like the feeling. they are a lot better than nimbus IMO. the foam are energetic looks like a novablast 5 IMO, but more cushioning, and support.

r/AskRunningShoeGeeksCan’t decide between Addidas Evo SL and Asics Novablast 5???

Im a man, 66 kg, neutral footfall without outsole warn historic. Ive used novablast 5 with another 4 shoes rotation, all still strong with 'pop'... novablast is dead and looks like a simple walking shoe after 450 km. my triumphs 20 and 21 have 1000 km each and still strong looks like 1st day use. no excuses here for asics and this crap shoe.

I never tried the 23. The triumph 22 was heavy and clunky, no way for me.  Triumph 21 was the best, and the 20 was a little downgrade of 21, but still almost perfect.

21 is better, the upper is better and the midsole is more softer and with more energy return

I have the Speed 3 and loving it. Though very much jealous that you have the 5 - heard great things about it. Tried the speed 4 in store and that felt so good too. I have the triumph 21 and like that a lot too. Ride 18 in store was awesome - bought the 16 too soon, though not disappointed with it.

r/AskRunningShoeGeeksI ran a HM in 2:06 hours yesterday in adidas evo sl- but they were a trouble for me. Recommend me shoes for my sub 2 hour HM next month.

You may be blessed with a very neutral gait. And possibly because of your lifting your ankles may be quite strong and stable. I’ve felt unstable in all sorts of shoes until I guess my feet worked out the shoes. Deviate Nitro 2, Triumph 21, adidas SL2, endorphin speed 3. I supinate - one meaning all my shoes wear out on the outside of the sole. Secondly since I land on the outside of the foot I probably put most pressure on the un-stable parts of the foam until I figure out how to adjust to the shoes.

Oooo, you are probably one of the few people that can help me. The triumph 21 was my unicorn shoe and I haven’t found something to replace it. The triumph 22 and the ride 18 were just stiff bricks that hurt my legs and had no energy return. Does the Vomero plus give that nice little pop after a soft landing like the T21 did?
