SUPERBLAST 2
Marathon workhorse, but loud and clunky at slow paces.
Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
24 is more breathable and has better foam, 23 is on sale now, and it's a good shoe 😄
there is no point in thinking about any other shoe than the new Triumph 24
Took me to the 50k mark to start vibing with mine. It is an adjustment for sure.
Getting back into running for the first time since high school and would love some input from people with more experience than me 😅 I know form and mechanics matter more than shoe choice, but I want to make sure I’m not setting myself up for problems with the wrong pair — especially since I have a history of shin splints from running track and playing rugby. I visited my local running store recently and had a gait analysis done. Based on my history, they recommended a few options and I ended up going with the Saucony Triumph 24 — it felt the best by far, and notably didn’t aggravate my knees the way the other options did to varying degrees. I went on my first run tonight and noticed some anterior tibial pain and my calves were rather tight, which I’m guessing is pretty normal after a long layoff. What did catch my attention though is that running on pavement felt a little off. I tend to run on my mid-foot/forefoot, and the Triumph’s substantial heel felt a bit awkward with that stride. I’m not sure if I’m just overthinking it and need more time to adjust, or if it might be worth revisiting the store to try something with a lower heel-to-toe drop. I have a 60-day exchange window, so there’s no rush — I plan to put in a few more runs before deciding anything. That said, I’d really appreciate any advice or insight from people who’ve been through something similar!
I’d get the triumph 24 to pair with it. Have something a little softer to alternate or run in when your legs are tired
Triumph 20-s. 4 pairs total. - have done my longest ever 28miles in this. The forefoot slim is felt towards ends of 20mile runs though. Magmax - protective and cruising and heavier. Most recently amd forst plated - hyperion max 3 - most fun. Not my most comfy sneakers these. But not intrisively uncomfy.
I just got mine delivered an hour ago, so I can't directly comment on the c1 just yet, but I have arthritis in my big toe (hallux rigidus) on one foot, so my easy/recovery shoes have to have a firm ride. I've tried on several shoes that were comfortable and a good fit (Vomero, 1080) but had a soft sole and they immediately bothered my arthritic toe. I just ran a 50mi race in the H1 without any issue so that sold me on getting the C1. I used to wear Glycerines but the new models don't fit as well as they used to. The regs are too narrow in the forefoot for me and the wides are a little too wide for me in the midfoot. C1s are replacing my Saucony Triumphs (in wide), which have been great, but is a slow shoe.
