Too much padding at least for me, same feeling with the 1080 and I would say the Atmos has more
They accommodate wide feet extremely well. Cushioned enough for those slow runs. Asics Nimbus 27, maybe another option. Hokas are extremely narrow for me, so I've never worn them. If you go to run repeat and get the app, you can look through the shoes and the width and the shoes used for and stuff. I use it for all my shoes.
6’ 225lbs. 35-45 miles/week on average. My current rotation: Brooks Glycerin 22 Brooks Glycerin Max Topo Atmos ASICS Superblast I wear the Glycerins when I plan on doing a balanced amount of walking and running. They strike a good balance for the two. For long recovery runs, I wear the Maxes. For easy miles, I use the Atmos. For days when I want to push the tempo, I wear the Superblast. If I was going to do two of those, I’d probably do the Glycerins and the Superblasts. I’d say they strike the best balance. You could really do either as a single shoe, but I think the Glycerins are better suited for slower work, and the Superblasts want to go faster. Trading the Glycerins for the Atmos would also be an option. They have a similar profile but are slightly softer, without being squishy. Plus they have the anatomical toe box, which helps with comfort.
Topo Atmos - the foot-shaped last is bliss, and lots of cushioning.
I use flat shoes for lifting, like converse or vans. Running shoes are terrible for lifting. Topo atmos for running. Idk what kind of support is needed for Pilates
I have the same rotation and am also looking for wide super shoes because of a mild bunion. The Elite v4 irritates my left Achilles due to its hard heel counter. My current rotation further includes the Topo Atmos (wide enough, but not a racing shoe), the EP3 (too narrow), and the Saucony Ride 16 and 17 (Wide). I'm eagerly waiting for the RunRepeat review of the Elite v5, but I might go for the Cloudboom Strike (not the LS version). However, I'm concerned it might also have a problematic heel counter.
The Topo Atmos has a 5mm drop. It has nice cushioning for long runs, and as it is a Topo shoe also the more anatomical, wide toe box, which is a nice extra for long runs. I find it fairly stable to, mostly due to the wide toe box obviously.
Not OP but I run using the Topo Atmos for most of my training. They were the ones I raced in for both my half marathons and I am currently training for a full with them. Very cushioned but they are some of the only shoes I can find that give my feet the room they need.
I have Topo Atmos and I like them a lot.
Topo has a whole line of wide toebox shoes. The Atmos is great for easy, long miles, the Phamtom is the daily trainer, the Cyclone for speed work and the Specter for longer speed efforts
The Topo Phantom 4 or Atmos. I have been a huge fan of Topo for a while now and now have all of their shoes. They are so overlooked but have great foams, great fits . . . I just did my long run this morning in the Atmos and it was a dream—I actually added on a 1/2 mile to my workout!
They actually narrowed the toe box in the Bondi this year so you may have to go with a wide width. It’s a lot firmer than I remember, but that may make it feel more nimble while running, enabling to go at different paces. I second the Topo recommendation. They have the Phantom for daily training, the Cyclone for speed work, the Atmos for recovery runs and the Specter for longer marathon training runs.
