SUPERBLAST 2
Marathon workhorse, but loud and clunky at slow paces.
Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
I have/had Cyclone 2, Cyclone 3, Ultraventure 4 and Phantom 3. Ask :)
look into Topo Athletic and Altra (I can't stand the marshmallows too)
Hey I just got some Topo Phantoms at my local REI! I’ve also got the longer second toe, and I’m not sure if it’s all of them or just my REI but they did bring out a pressure board for me to stand on and the sales associate did watch me jog around the store when I tried them on. She selected the Topos because of the wide toe box!
Topo Athletic might be a good shoe to try. They have a few styles that come on a wide, which is listed as a 2E. The road running shoes a very cushioned but the trail shoes are thinner. They’re not a good option if you have high volume feet, though.
Men’s wide sizes are 2E. The ones I know for sure are Atmosphere 2, Phantom, and Ultraventure, but I know there are others.
Thanks! I think I tried the phantom, but they didn’t have wide in any stores. I should try ordering it! I remember liking how it felt, but it ended up hurting way too much after some time in them
My Topos (phantom series) completely eliminated my shin splints and the wide toe box got ride of all the blister issues I had alongside the big toes. If you don't have access to a running store to get a fit assessment, I've often heard of brooks ghosts referred to as the Toyota camry of running shows in that they work well enough for most people's needs. They also have incredible customer service if you run into issues and will help triage the best shoe for you.
I'm on my 15th? (idk who knows) pair of Ultraventures after the PCT and CDT and wholeheartedly endorse them for trail running. Personally I like the Phantoms for road running. I first used the Atmos and they were fine, but the Phantoms have been much better. Obviously depends on your feet. I size up half a size and pair them with injinji toe socks.
