Dreame D10 Plus. Lovely little robot. Very confident. Would glide onto my tiled floor, locate a wet patch the size of a coin near the stove, and proceed to spread it into an abstract mural covering roughly two square feet. Every single time. Like it had artistic ambitions nobody asked for. I started following it around with a towel like a caddy at the world's saddest golf tournament. Replaced it once and then moved to another contender. Then I went with Dreame W10. Marketed as a wet dry all in one. What it actually did was locate every damp patch on my tiled floor and smear it into a thin glistening film across the entire surface, like it was prepping my kitchen for an ice skating competition. The dock would proudly flash green when it was done. Job complete. Floor ruined. Currently watching the xLean TR1 beta with my full attention because it claims to do everything in one swipe without turning my kitchen into a Jackson Pollock. Hopeful but cautious. Mostly cautious. Should I go for this?

Robots are mechanically and electrically much more complex than normal vacuums and despite the higher relative price they are not built as well as normal vacuums. Depending on your definition of "long term", none are reliable. You can expect 2 or 3 years before a serious failure. And that's with regular maintainence. The marketing for robot vacuums is so overblown it's ridiculous. They can be helpful when run very regularly. They keep clean-ish floors looking clean-ish. They do not vacuum as well as even average corded vacuums. Really you need to do a thorough manual vacuuming right before running the robot regularly, this allows the robot to "keep up" daily rather than trying to vacuum very dirty floors. Most will clog when used on previously uncleaned floors. Models to check would be the roborock Q10 S5+, eufy C10, dreame d10 plus, yeedi C12/ecovacs N20e (same machines different names). Of those models, the roborock and yeedi/ecovacs would be my top choices based on experience. Vacuum performance is good for a robot, anti tangle is ok (still, clean the brush regularly). And if longevity is a concern it might be worth getting a 3rd party extended warranty.

Will do! I currently have a D10 Plus which has been going well over the past couple of years and clocked over 60,000 minutes. It does have a curious issue where when I map, I have to put the dock in the middle of the house. If I put it towards either end of the house, the house is too long and it stops mapping at one edge. Be interesting to see if the L20 has the same issue. Also I thought the L10S Pro Ultra Heat does have MopExtend.

Dreame, all day every day. I'd prefer the Dreame even if the prices were reversed.

So an unknown brand just came out with a fairly pedestrian robot with stationary-pad mopping, and it has a higher rating than some of the highest-regarded robots on the market? Nope. If you really need mopping on a budget, take a look at the Dreame D10+, Eufy L60 Hybrid, or one of the Roborock Q series robots. For a big improvement in mopping for not much more money, look at the Eufy C20 or Dreame L10s Ultra series. Mova can be good, if they've solved their problem with fragile front wheels. If you don't care about mopping, look at the Eufy L60 SES or SwitchBot K10+.

For **70m² + parquet** and a **€400 budget**, you don’t need anything fancy — good navigation and strong suction matter way more than mopping. Solid picks in that price range: - **Roborock Q5 / Q5 Pro** Probably the safest choice. Excellent navigation, strong suction, rubber brush works well on parquet, very reliable app. - **Dreame D10 / D10 Plus** Strong suction for the money, good on hard floors. The Plus version with auto‑empty is often on sale close to €400 and is worth it if you can find it. - **Eufy X8 Hybrid** Simple but effective. Great for hard floors, quiet, good suction. App isn’t as advanced but it just works. Things I’d prioritise for parquet: - Rubber or soft brush (less scratching) - Good obstacle avoidance so it’s not scraping chair legs - You don’t really need mopping — it’s mostly a bonus at this price If you can find a **Roborock Q5** under €400, that’d be my pick for your use case.
