"Got the dream a few weeks ago. It's a game changer. I had a Neato and a few iRobots over the years. With those units, I spent more time pulling out dog hair and untangling rollers than actually using the product."
"This is a lot more advanced, and with the self emptying, it's pretty great. All I do now is swap out the water tanks every day."

"It has difficulty getting dirt between the edge of the rug and the hardwood floors."
Both robots are identical in terms of features. The roborock has a simpler app UI and better navigation than dreame's robots. Roborock's base station's mop washboard is also easier to clean as you won't have to reach down and scrub since it's completely removable, and there shouldn't be any dirt collecting under the tray since the suction tube is not positioned at the bottom but from the top. dreame's removable mop washboard, where the dirty water suction is positioned at the bottom means you'd also have to clean that area under the drain filter after removing the washboard.
I’d check out the dreame d20 if you just want a basic no frills vacuuming focused robot that does well with long hair and has a basic charging base station. The dreame d20 plus and the pro plus has an autoempty station. The MOVA e30 pro plus ultra is going to be the best bang for buck if you want what the dreame d20 pro plus offers at a lower price. Would also check out the roborock q10 s5+ as a great budget friendly vacuum focused robot. MOVA sent me their v50 ultra and their z60 ultra roller to review as part of their Reddit collaboration program. MOVA’s hyperstream antitangle duorollers that the dreame d20 series also has really do work with waist length hair and my long haired corgi’s fur on hard floors and carpets.
I highly recommend combo robots if your parents walk around the house barefoot, it greatly improves the feel! The combo robots I found best for keeping itself clean are the dreame and MOVA robots with the filter self cleaning function and the flat washboard. I was able to get away with making my MOVA V50 run everyday for 3 months without a noticeable change in cleanliness. After that it’ll be and the roborock Curv 2 Pro and the Narwal spinning mop robots which generally consume more water than the other options. The app is going to be a challenge for them but you can set it up for them and put it on a schedule so they won’t have to open the app at all.
Thanks for sharing! I hypothesize that the X50 Ultra's poor battery life is likely due to the more power-hungry computer chip it utilizes. My own experience with the L40s Pro Ultra (mainland Chinese version) had a *worse battery life* that struggled to finish cleaning my home whereas my much cheaper combo Xiaomi robot (also mainland Chinese version) that has the same battery capacity and is also made by Dreame would be able to vacuum first and then mop my small apartment and finish with 50%. Other reviewers have reported that the L40s Pro Ultra (non-mainland Chinese edition) had a bad battery life, just like me :( Hopefully, this issue will be fixed soon. I hope the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track doesn't suffer the same battery life issue, especially because it'll need a more powerful chip to process all the information coming from the HD binocular RGB cameras and the dot projector, and a power-efficient water heater in the robot to heat the water up.
What about Ultra? We bought the D20 ultra through a phone provider promo, but can't find anything about it on the website of dreame. Was looking for accessories
Based on your needs, Sados 10r is an overkill except you are planned to move into larger place in the next months. For Roborock, if you don't mind washing and changing the mop pad before every mopping session, you can go with Q7 M5/L5/TF with + designation for auto empty station. The Q10 S5+/X5+ gives more features above Q7 like obstacle avoidance sensor, vibrating mop pad and lifting mop pad unlike passive mop like in Q7. If you need a bit more automation, you can spend a little more on QV35A/QV35S (different only in suction power 8000Pa vs 10000Pa), and Qrevo S (7000Pa but come with warm air mop drying unlike ambient temperature drying in QV35). The QV35 has other names in some regions called Qrevo L. For Dreame, you can go with their D9 Max Gen 2 (no auto-empty dock), D10 Plus Gen 2 (with auto-empty dock), D20 Pro Plus (upgraded from D10 with more features like obstacle avoidance, extendable side brush, dual roller main brush great for anti tangle, and 13000Pa suction). There's also D20 Plus with almost similar specs to D20 Pro Plus but without the extendable side brush for corner cleaning and obstacle avoidance sensor. If you need a bit automation, there is D20 Ultra (offered in certain regions), L10s Ultra, L10s Ultra Gen 2, and so on. There's also Mova (Dreame's cheaper sub-brand) with S10 (cousin to D9), E30 Ultra for a bit more automation but cheap (cousin to D20 Ultra), S20 Ultra, or P10 Pro Ultra. You could also try to check Xiaomi's robots if available in your place. Their customer service is mostly decent and their robot is designed by Dreame using Dreame's older design and sold at cheaper and competitive price than Roborock, Dreame, and Mova.
Great call — the “S” and “Pro” tags are basically Dreame’s way of saying “this is the upgraded version of the normal one.” In the L-series especially, those variants can absolutely punch above their weight and even overlap with X-series features. The quick read: **S models** Smarter navigation, better obstacle avoidance, and usually a nicer mop wash/dry system. Same core robot as the base model, just… more robot. **Pro models** Higher suction, stronger carpets performance, and sometimes better edge cleaning or faster mapping. Totally agree it gets messy, but yeah — an L40S or L30 Pro can feel closer to X-series than people expect.
Yeah, “Ultra” is another one of those Dreame labels that sounds bigger than it actually is. Short version: **Ultra usually refers to the dock, not a totally different robot.** For the **D20 Ultra** specifically: * It’s basically a **D20-class robot + an auto-empty dock** * Same core robot as the D20 / D20 Pro line * “Ultra” just means it has the self-empty base, not higher-end navigation or obstacle avoidance That’s why it barely shows up on Dreame’s main site. Models sold through carriers, Costco, ISPs, or promos often get slightly renamed SKUs that don’t live in the normal retail lineup.
If obstacle avoidance around cat toys actually matters, the **L20 Ultra** is the safest pick out of the three. It has proper camera-based avoidance that’s good enough for cords, toys, and random floor junk. Hair handling is fine on hard floors and rugs, especially if you add a TriCut-style roller later. For 35 sqm, it’s honestly more robot than you strictly need, but it’ll be the least annoying day to day. The **D20 Plus** is the best pure vacuum value, but you’re right, it basically has **no real obstacle avoidance**. It cleans well, handles hair nicely, but it will absolutely eat cat toys if you forget to tidy up. If you’re okay watching the floor or running it when things are picked up, it’s solid. If not, it’ll frustrate you. The **D20 Ultra** sits in an awkward middle. You pay more than the D20 Plus, but the obstacle avoidance is still pretty basic compared to the L-series. It’s better than nothing, but not reliable enough that you can just forget about toys entirely. Hard to justify the extra $60 unless the pricing gap was smaller.
If obstacle Avoidance is your priority, the L20 Ultra is the winner. If better carpet cleaning is your priority, the D20 Plus/Ultra is the better option. If you want the best mopping, obstacle Avoidance and cleaning capabilities and don't mind spending more, the Dreame L50 Ultra will suit.
I have a Dreame D20 ( $220 refurb!) and it works pretty well. Incidentally I have a blue and harlequin too!
I love the white sock!. Ours has one foot that’s white on the underside, i guess you’d call it the sole of her foot
I think the closest option would be the d20. its a pretty neat robovac and its priced well too. I used to own [this](https://www.reddit.com/user/Medium-Ship-4873/comments/1q0ix17/dreame_d20/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) specific option. It works pretty great
This is why I am hesitating on the roborock q10 pf in my country. It is the q10 x5 in US. Will the spare parts be found in 3 years? Only if sales are good enough. The spare parts if too different may not be found so easily. Like the Dreame D20 (only with charging dock) in my country that is not the Dreame D20 Ultra in any way. And so far I have been unable to find the spare parts or know its equivalent elsewhere. For my Xiaomi 1C, I have managed to find parts to it. I have sent it in to get the wheels switched out under warranty, I have changed the filters and brushes at economical prices and I have switched out the batteries twice so far. The new ones are larger capacity but cause the robot vac to be a bit haywire. Perhaps I need to service the front wheel and clean the sensors? Either way, I am undecided between the roborock q10 PF and Xiaomi S20 or S20+. The S20 seems to fit my needs as a basic vacuum and is more compact allowing it to get into slightly tight areas but feels like just a little upgrade over my 1C that still works albeit haywire sometimes. It gets fixated on areas some times. I have put furniture risers ro accommodate the LiDar puck as that was the only hindrance on the new vacuums.
How is the mopping, we get a bit greasy floor in the kitchen and my current is not able to take it with the rotating mop pads. (Dreame D20) and the navigation? Does it actually avoid cables laying on the floor?
We have a Dreame that self empties and will mop. It’s in the pricey side, but we’ve also had n auto emptying Shark that I really liked and a Roborock that did very well but you have to empty. FWIW we have two large dogs (Alaskan Malamute and Great Pyrenees) and 8 cats.
