I got the Roborock Qx Revo when it was on sale at Costco for $459 and I’m happy with it. The Dreame GoVac 400 is a good option too and has been on sale for $399 before. Avoid Shark and iRobot. Wait for a sale.
Roborock Q5 max+ is a carpet beast, the duorollers will not tangle but they will accumulate hair at the roller’s ends and you’ll have to remove the hair wraps periodically. I’ve been using Costco’s Dreame GoVac 400 (equivalent to other models) on my mostly carpeted floor and the Tricut brush is amazing with hair, none on the ends anymore and zero tangles, plus it mops my bathrooms which is a plus.
The Dreame GoVac 400 is a better deal and within your budget. It’s now for $499 but I got it from Costco last month at $399. Better than the Roborock at half the price.
Sounds almost identical to the Costco’s Dreame GoVac 400. I just got it last week and it’s a lot better than I thought! However Costco sells it at a discount of $399 with an accessory package so definitely a better deal.
You literally left out the best one, Dreame GoVac 400. It’s for $399 now at Costco which is a craaazy value for what you get. This thing has been more reliable than my other “more advanced” robots.
I don’t have the QX Revo, I was comparing it to my L40 and X40. But on paper, compared to the QRevo, the Dreame has considerably stronger suction (13000 vs 5500), washes mops with hot water, better obstacle avoidance, more advanced tech options (swinging body to clean edges) and cheaper.
Just got a dreame govac 400 from Costco while it was on coupon for $100 off… so far, for the 1 day I’ve owned it, I like it!
sadly costco line up is limited right now. I would only go with the Dreame govac 400 or the roborock qx. neither is ideal though but the trade off is that warranty.
Agreed with all of that. We have had a Dreame with the auto empty base station for a few years now. It replaced our original robovac (an LG Roboking) and it has been rock solid. It sets off by itself every morning and does its thing, we empty the base dustbag every 6-8 weeks or so. About once a month, it'll get stuck on a cord or under a bed and can be there for a day or so before we realise and have to rescue it. Every few months, I take the dust collector station out into the shed and blow it out with the air compressor and I've done the same to the robot a few times over its life. We did the Temu bags too and even got a brush and filter replacement kit for a handful of bucks. My only gripe with it is that it seems to always want to do the laundry when I'm ironing my shirt and I've nearly stepped on it more than once :-). One of the best appliance purchases we've made.
I’m really satisfied with my Dreame navigation. It takes some time but I have the feeling it navigates better after some runs. I also tested the Narwal Flow and was really impressed. It drove around knowing where it was every single time. It was really confident when navigating and it never did the scanning where it currently is. My Dreame does this occasionally I think. But overall I don’t believe there’s much difference nowadays. Some work better than others, but amidst all modern models will do fine.
Roborock, dreame, movs are all more or less under Xiaomi company wise. They often share the same parts. That's why the similarities. You can also often use the game replacement parts from X on Y too.
Mova is the budget version but other than that they're basically identical.. I don't know where you're getting your info lol. You can literally take motors/brushes/sensors/subassemblies from some versions of let's say dreame and install them in roborock and vice versa... There's very small differences between all those companies.
I highly recommend combo robots if your parents walk around the house barefoot, it greatly improves the feel! The combo robots I found best for keeping itself clean are the dreame and MOVA robots with the filter self cleaning function and the flat washboard. I was able to get away with making my MOVA V50 run everyday for 3 months without a noticeable change in cleanliness. After that it’ll be and the roborock Curv 2 Pro and the Narwal spinning mop robots which generally consume more water than the other options. The app is going to be a challenge for them but you can set it up for them and put it on a schedule so they won’t have to open the app at all.
Thanks for sharing! I hypothesize that the X50 Ultra's poor battery life is likely due to the more power-hungry computer chip it utilizes. My own experience with the L40s Pro Ultra (mainland Chinese version) had a *worse battery life* that struggled to finish cleaning my home whereas my much cheaper combo Xiaomi robot (also mainland Chinese version) that has the same battery capacity and is also made by Dreame would be able to vacuum first and then mop my small apartment and finish with 50%. Other reviewers have reported that the L40s Pro Ultra (non-mainland Chinese edition) had a bad battery life, just like me :( Hopefully, this issue will be fixed soon. I hope the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track doesn't suffer the same battery life issue, especially because it'll need a more powerful chip to process all the information coming from the HD binocular RGB cameras and the dot projector, and a power-efficient water heater in the robot to heat the water up.
I've got a dreamtech which has self cleaning mops and it does pretty good. I've also got 2 kids and toys all over the floor and it barely gets stuck.
The Dreame robot mop system is our favorite new roommate! We have a new and an older iRobot Roomba vacuums and recently got this one for the main floor. We're very happy with it. It's available in many different price ranges.
