L10s ultra gen 3 or try and get the l40 ultra pro on offer it was £520 before Christmas ae has no extending brush so that’s out in my view
If your main concern is vacuuming the fur yes, if you want it to mop I’d get the edge 5V1.
The dreame l10s ultra gen 3 is a good alternative if you prioritize not wanting to clean your mop washboard too! It’ll be much better at self cleaning if your main concern is not needing to clean the mop washboard nearly as often. I am not sure if yours will ship with the compatible antitangle TriCut brush but if it doesn’t you can buy it from aliexpress. However, it’ll make it louder than the Edge 5V1. If they’re at the same price, I like the edge 5V1 more as it clean the mops with hot water which is helpful for removing grease if you cook.
The ecovacs won’t be as good as the dreame for navigation. The t50 pro omni has a camera to help with obstacle avoidance but the dreame doesn’t. Dreame has one of the best edge and corner cleaning algorithms that can be overly aggressive if you have quarter round moldings. Both local stores and amazon should have good return policies. There’s no need to buy an additional warranty as that’s a rort since the Australia consumer law covers what the warranty already covers and protects your rights as a consumer!
The l10s ultra gen 3 should be better with pet hair as you can make it use the TriCut brush (easy to find on AliExpress or Taobao) which has worked well on my long haired corgi’s fur :)
I highly recommend combo robots if your parents walk around the house barefoot, it greatly improves the feel! The combo robots I found best for keeping itself clean are the dreame and MOVA robots with the filter self cleaning function and the flat washboard. I was able to get away with making my MOVA V50 run everyday for 3 months without a noticeable change in cleanliness. After that it’ll be and the roborock Curv 2 Pro and the Narwal spinning mop robots which generally consume more water than the other options. The app is going to be a challenge for them but you can set it up for them and put it on a schedule so they won’t have to open the app at all.
Thanks for sharing! I hypothesize that the X50 Ultra's poor battery life is likely due to the more power-hungry computer chip it utilizes. My own experience with the L40s Pro Ultra (mainland Chinese version) had a *worse battery life* that struggled to finish cleaning my home whereas my much cheaper combo Xiaomi robot (also mainland Chinese version) that has the same battery capacity and is also made by Dreame would be able to vacuum first and then mop my small apartment and finish with 50%. Other reviewers have reported that the L40s Pro Ultra (non-mainland Chinese edition) had a bad battery life, just like me :( Hopefully, this issue will be fixed soon. I hope the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track doesn't suffer the same battery life issue, especially because it'll need a more powerful chip to process all the information coming from the HD binocular RGB cameras and the dot projector, and a power-efficient water heater in the robot to heat the water up.
**TLDR:** Want stability and fewer headaches, L10s Ultra Gen 3. Want newer hardware and don’t mind tuning, L40s Pro Ultra. Want max suction but can live without an extending brush, L40 Ultra AE.
If they’re the same price, think of it like this: **L10s Ultra Gen 3** leans more toward strong, straightforward vacuum performance with its extended brush and proven spinning-pad mopping. It’s simple, reliable, and very good at hair pickup and edge cleaning. If your place isn’t cluttered and you mostly want dependable vacuum + mop support, it’s a safe, boring-in-a-good-way choice. **L40 Ultra AE** trades a bit of that simplicity for nicer mopping and smarter navigation. The hot-water mop wash is genuinely useful, and the camera-based obstacle avoidance does help with cables, toys, and random floor clutter. It’s not life-changing, but it’s noticeable in messier homes. So… cleaner, simpler home → L10s Gen 3. More stuff on the floor + you care about mopping polish → L40 Ultra AE.
# TLDR: Get the **L10s Pro** if it's within budget. If not, **D10 Plus** is the best bang for the buck **with a base**. Auto-empty is a game-changer in a dusty home. # Model Rundown: # ✅ L10s Pro * **Best cleaning performance** of the group (top-tier suction + obstacle avoidance) * **Does wet mopping well** with rotating pads * No base, but solid overall * **Best for large apartments** if you don’t mind emptying it manually # ✅ L10s (non-Pro) * Older, still solid * Has AI navigation and **comes with an auto-empty base** * Slightly weaker suction than Pro, less smart avoidance # ✅ D10s Pro * Decent suction and basic lidar nav * **No base** * Good for smaller or simpler homes — not ideal for large, dusty spaces unless you’re OK emptying it often # ✅ D10 Plus * Similar to D10s Pro but **comes with a base** * Very basic navigation (bumps into stuff sometimes), but **great value** for the price # Why the Base Matters (especially with dust): If your place gets dusty and you’re busy (or just hate emptying bins daily), the base makes life *so* much easier. You can go a couple of weeks without touching the robot. Totally worth it if that’s a pain point. # 🏆 Recommendation Based on Budget Priorities: * **Top pick overall**: L10s Pro (best clean + navigation, even without base) * **Best value with base**: D10 Plus * **All-around balance**: L10s (base + decent mopping) Let me know your price ceiling and I can tell you exactly what to grab and what to skip.
For that price range you could consider a robot without a station. I purchased a L10s Pro Gen 3 and so far so good. You have to empty the dust cassette yourself, and refill with water, but it does a great job and does not have the footprint of a model with station. Of course it is advised to use it regularly on lightly spoiled floors, do not expect to use it for large spillage and in an "install and forget" fashion.
Got the L10s Pro Gen 3 (no station - a choice I made for the footprint). I am extremely impressed with navigation. It moves 1 mm away from furniture and never bumps into them. It detects the carpets from the hard floor perfectly. With no station I have to empty the dust compartment but I accept this, as long a the job is done well. Very happy.
We've got 3 - Alfred and Mr. Butlertron are self emptying Roombas and The Crushinator is a Dreame vacuum/mop. I love them all, they're valued members of the family 😆 They each man a floor of the house and run daily at different times based on when that floor is in use. To me it's all a trade off. Yes, I need to make sure the floor is clear and open/close doors as needed. But I also don't have to get on my hands and knees to vacuum under the bed or move the couch or actually do any of the real work myself. Our floors are always clear of junk (because we need to pick up daily) and I'm not brushing the bottoms of my feet off on my legs anymore. If you have pets - for the love of all that is holy, check the room before it runs and shut your pets out. We had two dog poop incidents and it was awful.
The Dreame L10 ultra gen. 2 or 3, Dreame L20 ultra complete, The cheaper Roborock Qrevo models (good luck sorting that bizarre range out!)Just stick within budget. Mova P10 pro ultra, Maybe the Mova E40 will just come in budget too. The movas-and Dreames being the same company-you'll see a lot of the same features cross-over. They are all decent buys given the discounts this weekend.
Anyone know how to get the free tri-cut brush offer with the Dreame L10s Pro Ultra? I'm not seeing that as a free item on Amazon. Edit: nevermind, I see it now. Free item isn't available for gen 2
Gen 1 only. When you add to cart or somewhere along the way it shows you qualifying item and benefit item. Under benefit item you can select the tri-cut.
Dreame is great, no issues until now and their spares are easily available.
At this price range, it would be hard to find something that would work well for all these situations, but here's two options that might work for you in this situation: Roborock Q8 Max (199$ on amazon) : * Pro: Great for pet hair on carpet * Pro: Good on hard floor * Pro: Much lower than your max budget. * Con: Bad obstacle avoidance, might struggle with baby gate. * Con: No self empty dock. Dreame L10s Pro Ultra (369$) + Tri-cut brush (free with purchase on amazon, you have to add it to your cart before checking out): * Pro: Good on hard floors. * Pro: Great obstacle avoidance. * Bad on carpet but can be upgraded with the tri-cut brush, which will do a better job at lifting pet hair out of carpet. * Pro: Self empty dock with mop washing. * Con: Refilling the clean water and emptying the dirty water tank. (once a week depending on mop usage) * Con: Cleaning the mop wash board (once every 2-3 weeks, depending on dirt accumulation) I made [a post recently](https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/comments/1p7hqa8/comment/ns6y5nw/) about all the expectations to have when buying a robot, which I'd recommend you check out. I also have ADHD and a robot vacuum has been life changing for me. My biggest struggle is emptying the dirty water tank, but the app does let you know. Like regular vacuums, there are some maintenance requirements, but the app will remind you when it's needed. Most maintenance is easy, but I know that it's easier said than done to keep track of it all and initiate the task. I will say, though, in my personal experience with ADHD and my robot vacuum, the time spent maintaining it is significantly less than the time spent actually vacuuming and mopping. Hope this helps!
