I hope you are right about Dreame as I just got L50 pro Ultra. After almost 10 years with Roomba 980 my biggest fear is that these tech filled toys cant live half of that

I got the dreameL50 and its pretty decent. But if you dont need one that goes up little steps then its a waste of money

Actually i dont like the L50 series imho. the incremental increase in suction and water temp plus that little wheel lift is too little feature for that huge price bump over L40. The dual brush on L50 is kind of meh unless you have deep carpet. For hard floor, single brush is good enough. Personally mova p10 pro ultra (which is literally just dreame L40 but with the detachable mop pad software lock) is the best value for money. Especially when they are on sale. both dreame and mova belong the same company and used the same upstream supplier btw. They just market it to differently. Almost all the spare part are interchangeable between mova and L series machine. Roborock saros Z70 gave up a lot internal room to fit that robo arm. So its suction and dust capacity is much lower than non-arm equivalent. I don't think it justified the cost and lower suction power yet. btw there are reusable dust bag with zipper. Just to let you know. It's sold by 3rd party and less hepa seal but the trade off is you dont need to buy new bag when it's filled. just unzip and empty it out then zip back in.

With limited experience (we got ita week ago) I have to say it's pretty great so far. Floor's cleaner than it's been in ages, it navigates the furniture well (room a little bigger than yours) and when it comes to a corner or whatever the little arm extends to make sure it gets everything. It did get stuck on a small dustmat we have at the back door, dragged it through the whole room so after that we just picked it up and put it down someplace else. No other obstacles were hurt. But ask me again in a year 😅

For a smart combo: Dreame’s L40S Pro Ultra won’t have great battery life (a reviewer found a rate of 3% per square meter) as it uses the same power hungry computer chip as the X50 ultra but the self cleaning capabilities it has (cleaning the dustbin’s filter which most other robots can’t do, and a much better self cleaning mop washboard) with the fur compression feature it has when it vacuums which is great for heavy shedders means it’s worth the tradeoff. If you want better battery life with the same features, the L50 Pro Ultra has a 6400 mah battery like the X50 Ultra. The obstacle avoidance on these two models and the X50 should be the same as the X40 ultra now since it’s pretty mature. For a budget choice, I’d look at Xiaomi’s X20 Pro or the X20 Max. They won’t have as good obstacle avoidance as it only uses structured light but the prices (£399 and £499 respectively) can’t be beat for its quality.

The dreame X50 ultra, L50 Ultra (not the L50 Pro ultra), MOVA V50 ultra, and the MOVA P50S Ultra (not the P50 Pro ultra) should definitely cross this with no issues. Most dreame/MOVA robots, even without special threshold crossing abilities, have pretty good threshold crossing abilities. You could also look at the Dreame L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra or the L50 Pro Ultra with the EasyLeap additional pair of wheels that are made to climb thresholds like this (they’re shaped like a windmill or shuriken to better grip onto ledges). The roborock models with the Adaptlift feature should be able to cross this just fine. Other robots can cross a threshold of 2cm with no issues but that assumes the thresholds are smooth with no grooves. No clue about them crossing this kind of threshold though.

As far as I know, only the Dreame Aqua 10 pro track, x50 ultra, l50 ultra (not the l50 pro ultra, confusing I know), the MOVA V50 Ultra and the P50S pro ultra can climb a single threshold up to 4.2cm unassisted with a second threshold up to 1.8cm.

For less maintenance, the dreame x50/l50/l40s pro ultra are the best self-cleaning robots (cleans its own filter when autoemptying and the best self-cleaning mop washboard). The dustbin is also easy to clean. If there are no thresholds, get the cheaper L50 Ultra or the L40s Pro Ultra (but it has a smaller battery). > If it has the option to plumb in to water/waste, that's a bonus All the dreame ones have easily accessible plumbing kits since the base station design is mostly the same. Roborock ones don't. If you want it to clean upstairs, you can get the robot just to clean up there and it can autoempty when you bring it back down to charge.

I have dreame made robots for Xiaomi and I tried the L40S Pro Ultra made for mainland china way before it was released then returned it because I didn’t want like how the onboard voice assistant couldn’t recognize what we were saying (this is for Cantonese and what they advertised would work well so the voice assistants for other languages may be better or worse). They’ve all been solidly built. The map it made was very good compared to my structured light only Xiaomi. My current Xiaomi, has been working without any flaws till now where it seems the mopping motors want to give up at 830+ hours. The vacuuming is still running like it’s brand new. It runs twice a day and I’ve only had to make a new map once every few months. As for battery life, yes I think it’s an issue. It had the same battery capacity as my Xiaomi (5200mah for the l40s pro ultra and the Xiaomi) yet needed more charging breaks when running the vacuuming first before mopping mode (my Xiaomi never needed a single charging break) probably because I ran it on CleanGenius on the deep+ cleaning mode. If you work from home and aren’t expecting guests to come quickly, I think letting it do its thing is best. The x50 has a 6400mah battery which may be better for battery life The self cleaning at the filter and the mop washboard were a huge upgrade though. My Xiaomi’s filter (same as the x40 ultra) would be pretty clogged with fine dust and lil dust bunnies that would make it right into the pleats and could never be cleared with autoemptying so I would have to tap the dust out at the end of every day. The dreame l40s pro ultra did much better taking care of this.

Since there are no thresholds, the L50 pro ultra is also worth it. I used to refer to the L50 Pro Ultra as the l50 ultra for my convenience but I forgot about the L50 ultra which is better for homes with thresholds. Both L50 models have the same battery capacity (6400mAh) as the X50 ultra so the battery drain issue isn’t nearly as bad as it was on my dreame l40s pro ultra.

Dreame: L40s Ultra/Pro Ultra, L50 Pro Ultra, L50 Ultra, X50 Pro Ultra/Master, Matrix 10, Aqua 10 Roller/Ultra Roller/Pro Track/Ultra Track, and the D20 Pro Plus

The l40s pro ultra, the l50 pro ultra, or the l50 ultra will give you the key features of the X50 while lacking a few features you may not miss like the increased threshold climbing height, the retracting lidar, or a larger battery. As for the DJI romo, you’d have to ship it back for warranty. Although most report that the navigation is great, as expected of DJI, the cleaning performance doesn’t really match up to other brands’ flagships.

I’d definitely check out the dreame l40s pro ultra if there aren’t any thresholds higher than 2.4cm and if it’s in stock, the l50 pro ultra if there aren’t any thresholds in your home higher than 2.4cm, or the X50 ultra! These have the biggest dustbin of any combo robot vacuum and mop at the moment at 395mL and the hair compression feature has worked great so it actually uses all of that listed volume in the dustbin instead of clogging in the middle with empty space on the sides.

Does your dog shed a lot? The L50 Pro Ultra ≈ L50 Ultra ≈ X50 Ultra if thresholds and getting into low clearance areas that require the robot to lower the lidar isn’t an issue.

If fur does get embedded in carpet, I’d consider the dreame models that I mentioned in my previous comment and the roborock s8 MaxV ultra or the qrevo master as their dual rubber brushes will do better at agitating fur and hair out of carpet than the other options.

Bigger dustbin + good use of dustbin when it comes to fur (no empty space should be in the dustbin when fur clogs it) + frequent autoemptying = better for dealing with hair and fur. For a vacuum only model, the roborock Q5 Max+ and the Q8 Max+ have a sizeable dustbin and uses the dustbin space well and has an autoempty station. The dual rollers help with fur pickup. In the US Dreame’s L/X50 Ultra fulfills these requirements as a combo model. So does the MOVA V50 Ultra for Canadian customers. The QRevo series has the same issue with some dreame models where the dustbin will be clogged with fur but there’ll be a lot of empty space on the sides. It’ll be good for picking up fur on carpets with its dual brushes but I think the eufy X8 should be better for dealing with finer dust.

1. Anything that moves can break. So I suggest buying from a retailer with a good return policy + a good protection plan. 2. For base station cleaning: Dreame (some models), eufy, Narwal, roborock, and Xiaomi have completely removable mop washboards. I’m not a fan of the wiper driven mop washboards on the Dreame X/L30 and X/L40 ultra and the MOVA P10 Ultra/Pro Ultra simply because there’s too many nook and crannies to clean. However their new aceclean dryboard on the L/V/X50 Ultra and newer is much easier to clean even when only the filter is removable since there’s no nooks and crannies for dirt to hide in and dirt only really collects under the removable filter which is easily removed with a wet wipe or a Clorox wipe. I’d avoid bagless base stations. Spinning mop combo robots are less maintenance than roller mop robots.

1. It really depends on your purchasing region. Costco is a popular choice given its generous return policy but choices are rather limited compared to buying from Amazon which has an easy return policy within 30 days. For other purchasing regions, buying from a reputable retailer with a good return policy and an optional protection plan would be good. In Australia, I heard Harvey Norman is nicer with returns compared to JB HIFI. 2. The robots with the best self cleaning will be Dreame’s L/X50 Ultra/L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and MOVA’s V50 Ultra P50S Ultra > MOVA’s P50 Ultra/ Pro Ultra > Roborock’s models that have spinning mops with the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 (roborock models with a vibrating mop have a washboard that is more difficult to clean as you can’t remove it) ≈ Narwal Freo models (completely detachable base) > Dreame’s models with the mop-driven wiper mop washboard (cleaning the wiper washboard is rather difficult since there’s too many nooks and crannies and you’d still have to get down to clean the areas the wipers can’t reach) > other combo robots with an all in one base station As for combo robots with roller mops and have an all in one base station, the washboard is generally flat with a few grooves so it’s pretty easy to clean. I believe most of their washboards are removable. However, it’ll require more cleaning in the mop compartment and dirty water tank. Most roller mop models have an annoying cylindrical component which drives the roller mop like an upright wet dry vacuum but you can’t remove or move it to give it a deeper clean even if gunk is stuck on it. The only combos that are close to the level of self cleaning for spinning mop models are Dreame’s Aqua 10 Pro track, the MOVA Z50 Ultra, and the Narwal Flow since both have self-cleaning mechanisms that are made to also clean the dirty water tank and the mop compartment while also having a very easy to clean mop compartment since the thing that moves the mops is also completely removable. If you want to support a US startup, you could look at the Matic since it’s a vacuum and mop robot but taking care of it looks rather easy since it lacks a base station. The maintenance involved is replacing the bag, refilling the water with a cleaning solution of choice, occasionally cleaning the roller mop, the roller mop filter, cleaning the brush roller and de clogging the mop tubes if needed.

Hi ask in r/robotvacuums for less biased responses. I found that the dreame and MOVA models with the dual conical anti tangle rollers will be best for heavy shedding pets as it has the live fur compression feature that compresses fur in the dustbin as it vacuums which means it won’t get clogged up with fur in both the brush compartment and the dustbin nearly as quickly and can use the dustbin space more effectively. Models with this feature are the dreame L40S Pro Ultra, L40S Ultra, X/L50 Ultra and the MOVA V50 Ultra.

For combos, I’d also look at these models: Dreame’s and MOVA’s robots with the dual antitangle brush system has a rather sizable dustbin at 395mL with the ability to compress the fur in the dustbin as it vacuums. This means that the dustbin will be able to handle more fur and won’t get clogged as easily. I believe most qrevo models (and some older dreame models) have an issue where the dustbin can be clogged with fur but there’ll be empty space on the sides. DREAME Robots with this: L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra, L/X50 Ultra, Aqua 10 Pro Track MOVA robots with this: V50 Ultra and the P50S Ultra (smaller height at 82.5mm means dustbin is reduced to 300mL). The RGB camera enabled robots can detect cat litter and appropriately increase suction, slow down, and stop the side brush to avoid scattering it.

It depends on tall your thresholds are: For single thresholds: Up to 2cm: most modern robots can cross with no difficulty Up to 2.2cm: Dreame L/X40 Ultra. The dreame models with the EasyLeap wheels (L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and the L50 Ultra) can cross the first threshold up to 2.2cm and a secondary threshold right after up to 1.8cm Up to 3cm: roborock models with the AdaptLift chassis. It can cross a single threshold up to 3cm and a secondary threshold right after up to 1cm. Up to 3.5cm: the MOVA P60 Pro Ultra (mainland china only for now) has active suspension like the roborock Adaptlift chassis and the EasyLeap edge climbing wheels to climb a single threshold up to 3.5cm and a secondary threshold up to 3.5cm. Up to 4.2cm: Dreame X50 Ultra, Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track, and the MOVA V50 Ultra all can cross a single threshold up to 4.2cm if the threshold is shorter than 9-10cm (5.2cm if the threshold is sufficiently long enough) and a secondary threshold up to 1.8cm.

I like how Jamie Andrews tests aspects that are advertised for quality of life (self cleaning the dock and using hot water) whereas vacuumwars simply rattles them off like a sales brief checklist. I can confirm Dreame does reach the advertised hot water temperature listed (I tested myself with an electric thermometer connected to the area on the washboard where the water would flow from the pipes) and it usually hovers at about 5-10°C below the advertised temperature before reaching it for a second or two. Don’t know about the new AceClean dock as I don’t have it but Dreame told me any misplacement of the temperature probes will result in measuring errors of more than 10°C.

Can concur; only issue is smaller battery and lidar not handling curtains well but this is valid for a lidar vacuums apparently
