Bang for buck - mova p10 ultra Money is no object/I want the best - roborock Sara's 10r or dreame x50 ultra Budget/cheapest option changes alot based on sales. Just the other week I bought a refurbished L10s ultra for $240 Honorable mention - the new eufy e28 can be had for $800. I think its worth considering because the roller mop system they have going seems to do really good for mopping in general.

I am often surprised, and offended at how much difference there is in premium robots (which is what I tend to test, rather than budget or midrange). You should expect, if you pay that much, for a robot to work. This problem is much worse in lawnbots, but there is no condition under which I would purchase a Roomba or Eufy on purpose. Doesn't matter what model. I'm most impressed by Roborock, Dreame and Ecovacs. That said, each model is different. For instance, I thought the X40 was just fine. Didn't blow me out of the water. But I think the X50 is quite good, although it still has some navigation issues. I haven't tested the Monsga line, sorry.

I had the Dreame x50 and returned it. It seems like with Dreame you can get a great robot or a lemon in the same model. Mine had issues getting on the base. The carpet vacuuming was not great and the battery was awful. For the price it just didn’t meet my expectations. During the Amazon spring sale I got the L40 and I’m happy with it for $500. It’s not perfect but overall does well in my house. I have carpet, tile, dogs, cats, and kids.

You forgot the most important question which is what your budget is. I have 2 German shedders and a chocolate lab. I've had an S9 that worked pretty well for the last 5 years on hard floors. Technology and anti-long hair tangle has come a long way and, almost any new bot in the mid-range or premium range are going to do great at anti-tangle. I know people really don't like roomba right now but, my max705 just did my while 900 sq/ft space without puking out clumps of hair like my S9 would, on a single pass. I tested a Dreame X50 too and frankly it was about the same result there too albeit the dreame did it much more quietly.

Dont agree with it reducing vaccing and mopping. This is ture, but not for all models in my experience. My x50 ultra mops my floors to perfection, it gets them a lot cleaner than manually mopping and I have tested this. Again, no need to ever vac except for the stairs, and the very rare piece of sock fluff that gets entwined in carpet fibers.

I'd trust vacuum wars, I went for the Dreame x50 ultra, it wasn't the top of their list, but the highest one in the list i could buy in the UK. I'm amazed at it's performance, my floors are cleaner than when I mop them with a tinco or a standard mop. I havent had a robot vac before so can't compare, but I'm extremely happy with my purchase, providing I don't run into any reliability issues of course.

Yesss it's such a benefit if you have dogs. We currently have three (one on every floor, lol). But we just upgraded ourselves to the dreame x50 ultra robot, which is a bit above your budget though. We also have two different robots from Ecovacs. Both worked fine, but we quickly saw our first robot (the least expensive one) was a bit too dumb for our home setup. However, I'm quite glad we started out cheap just to experience if a robot vacuum was it for us.

Dreame. I have the 50 ultra. It's pricey, but... it devours dog hair. No clogging, no tangles. It avoids cords. It will leave fuzz balls from time to time, but that's okay. This is the only robot where I didn't spend more time detangling dog hair than cleaning. I run the thing every day for about 10 hours.

1. I've noticed that after the firmware update the X50U doesn't empty the dustbin during recharges. That's annoying, because it's beyond stuffed. I don't have the compress feature enabled. 2. I've also noticed that the unit will wander aimlessly for awhile when beginning or ending a task. Not sure what that's about. Just now, I set it to mop a hallway. It's poking around in a completely different area of the house. I manually drove it to the hallway, and resumed. It's now circling back to the opposite end of the house. I guess it wants to enter from the opposite end of the hall? Weird. 3. I'd love it if the software gave a best guess on how long a task would take and how much time a task has left on it. 4. I wouldn't mind if I could tell the unit what route to take to get to a certain area for cleaning. 5. It would be fun if it could "look" for things like misplaced glasses or keys or a wallet. 6. I usually can't find the moving robot on the map. Maybe make it flash colors or something. 7. A baseboard washing arm would be wonderful. 8. Have the base station clean those pesky sensors. 9. Ability to flush the bagged dirt out of the unit (for those units that are plumbed) or have other means to blow the dirt out, so it's truly set and forget, would be nice. Maybe have an option for a pipe out like a whole house vacuum does. 10. I'd like to be able use my own detergent (Such as Fabuloso or Roma)

Out of the two Dreame models you asked about, I'd go with the X50 if its superior vacuuming and fur cleaning you're looking for. It will have duo brushes to agitate and pick up better when vacuuming and better overall suction to pick up more debris on a single pass through. X40 isn't a bad machine at all, but for medium carpets with dog fur shedding, I'd go X50 and be happy with the purchase the first time around rather than wishing I had went with the other model. The Mova will be similar in terms of build to the X40 so I wouldn't go that route, plus they get you 3 years of warranty versus 5 yrs on the Dreame. Roborock will be the next best one when comparing it to the X50, they'll have similar sensors for objects and quality of life features such as voice control and self cleaning, the Roborock just costs a bit more but will be similar overall, so if it were me choosing between the 4 models, X50 is an easy choice. Hope this helps, Happy Hunting!

Hello, glad you're looking for a new robot vacuum, for the price to performance ratio a comparable Dreame model would be an X40 Ultra which in my opinion is a great vacuum for the price, its suction power is similar to the narwal as well as mapping capability but at a better value. I think it's worth looking into. likewise if you want a Dreame in the budget of $1000 you're looking for, the X50 Ultra is an easy sell right now since it went on sale recently, better suction, fast charging and self-cleaning dry board are all great quality of life features worth the upgrade. hope this helps a bit, and happy hunting!

The Dreame X50 Ultra is rated to cross a threshold of 2.3 inches, which looks like this might be right at the edge or just over it, but if it's within that range, the X50 is a solid choice right now for the value. solid suction with dual brushes, great battery life and fast charging base are all good reasons to look at the X50 Ultra, if you're in the U.S it just dropped in price too, so worth a look if it fits within the parameters of the threshold. happy hunting!

Hello, happy you're looking for a new robot and the comparison between the 2 models you're choosing from is close but for what you're looking for I think overall the X50 would be better. The X50 has 2 brushes, duo brush, that work in tandem to sweep and pick up pet hair without tangling, ensuring a clean floor and carpet with a single pass through. The suction power on the X50 is also going to be very strong, stronger than X8, for picking up larger pieces or clumps of hair/fur as well. X50 also has it so you can program to empty itself and clean the mop pads how you'd like, so if you want it to clean/empty after cleaning for an allotted amount of time, by area cleaned or even after cleaning a single room so it's always fresh to go. The X8 might have a slight edge when it comes to mopping since it uses a roller brush, which scrapes itself as it cleans so it keeps a fresh roller, and some people prefer that over the rotary mop pads for cleaning, but also in my opinion the rotary style mop pads do a better job at mopping up to the edges over a roller brush which can struggle in those situations. if, you're looking at both models and they can be had for the same price, go with X50 in my opinion, It's going to do a better job for the cleaning space you need. Hope this helps a bit and happy hunting!

Well i think it's closer to double everywhere because of the self emptying self cleaning mop base .. it pretty much is the same thing but with a base which can self clean the mops and self emptys so you don't have to worry for a number of days.. Anything similar to the X20 plus is generally a lot more expensive.. for the UK the X20 is £299 anything similar is more closer to £700

I recommend you set the robot to vacuum first and then mop. Moisture from the mop can enter the vacuum compartment which doesn’t only make gross to clean mud, but also damage the vacuum motor over time. As far as I am aware, the x50 ultra’s battery life is due to a firmware issue. I think it may be better to have two or more robots if your home is this big. There is the upcoming Narwal flow in the first half of 2025 but I think that may be too long to wait.

Today I’d pick the Dreame X50 Ultra and the MOVA Z5 Pro. I’d use the X50 for vacuuming and the mop swing function for areas the MOVA cannot reach like under the fridge. Self cleaning filter means I get to be super lazy. I think the MOVA G20/G30/Z5 can also clean their filter when they autoempty too due to a different autoempty structure but I haven’t checked.

Best model for 2025 release in the US is probably Dreame’s X50 Ultra as it seems to best meet all your needs. Currently, I do not think any current models will sufficiently meet your requirements as the current models have some drawback in the requirement you have mentioned. Dreame X/L40 Ultra compared to X50 Compared to the X50 Ultra: Double brush system has worked much better on carpets than with the TriCut brush. Both approaches perform just as well on hard floors. Dreame’s X50 Ultra’s double brush performs better on carpet. For some reason, the bristle brushes on all the older models (rubber and bristle combo brush and the TriCut brush) liked to eat some of the fiber on my low pile densely packed carpet. I’m not sure if this is universally applicable to all carpets as I haven’t seen other people report this issue. However the second bristle and rubber combo brush on the X50 Ultra did not do any of that on my carpet. It can’t clean its own filter like the X50 and the X50’s AceClean mop cleaning system with water jets are much better at self cleaning the washboard than the X40 Ultra’s washboard with wipers. The X40 washboard also has some difficult to clean areas and little nooks and crannies that I didn’t really like cleaning If you have furniture with low clearance (under 10cm): the X40 cannot make it under there whereas the x50’s retracting lidar can. If you have high thresholds above 24mm, you’d appreciate the Dreame’s new threshold climbing legs No ability to compress the fur in the dust box while it is vacuuming to maximize the use of the dustbin volume. Roborock’s obstacle avoidance isn’t as good as dreame.

Dyson started it by playing around with air wattage values with their vacuum cleaners until regulators put a stop to this since all it did was make it noisier and more power hungry. Robot vacuum brands took a page from Dyson’s playbook and now are playing the spec game with higher and higher numbers to confuse consumers instead of making meaningful upgrades TvT 58°C to 65°C to 70° to 80°C for mop washing (although this is usually for a few seconds at best) 10 to 20 to 40 to 128+ to infinite (ecovacs) objects recognized when this means absolutely nothing in real life.

Thank you so much for sharing your review! It’ll help a lot of people choose their own robots~ The only robot capable of compressing dog fur in the dustbin when it’s vacuuming while also being good at carpets is the Dreame X50 Ultra with tangle free double brushes. Another notable mention are the Narwal robots with the conical anti tangling brush also do have this feature due to the U shaped airflow but it can only autoempty on the Freo Z Ultra but NarWal’s strength lays more in mopping than it does in vacuuming. Right now, it seems the only robot that can clean its own dustbin filter is the X50 Ultra. As for omakase features where you leave all the cleaning decisions to the robot (its own sensors in the robot and the base station help it decide if it needs to increase suction, change the mop moisture depending on the floor type, reclean certain areas, and whether to lift the mops, the main brushes, and the side brush), I think this is an important selling point because I’m a bit too lazy to figure out how a robot should clean.

What is your purchasing region? Do your furry friends tend to gift you “surprises” robots can’t handle? Is drool an issue too? I found that combo bots are pretty decent at dealing with my long haired corgi’s fur and drool. Generally, picking up pet hair isn’t the issue, it’s dealing with the tangles. Several new robots have come out with really nice anti tangle solutions. Some even have solutions for the dreaded the area between the robot’s suction inlet and the filter intake is clogged by pet fur (Dreame’s X50 Ultra seems promising in this aspect with fur compression that seems to work). As for the filter getting clogged, I am aware of the fact that it seems the Dreame X50 Ultra is the only robot that can clean its filter. It does this when auto emptying. Otherwise, you’d have to tap the dust out of your filter once every few cleaning tasks or after every cleaning task when running the robot for the first few times. Are you looking for one that can only vacuum or a combo robot? For carpets, iRobot will be best suited but since you’ve mentioned there are only a couple of rugs around, I’d consider other brands as their navigation and obstacle avoidance seems to be rather spotty.

If you want a robot that is great at edge cleaning, cleaning itself and its base station, the dreame X50 Ultra should be considered for its new AceClean mop washboard that uses high pressure water jets to clean the mops instead of the traditional mop washboard where little nubs and grooves rub against the spinning mops to dislodge dirt. I switched out the much thinner dreame mop pads for the plusher roborock Saros 10R mop pads (they fit on dreame models) and I find it is better at mopping uneven floors due to its plushness. I believe it also cleans its filter when autoemptying to reduce the frequency of you having to manually tap the dust out and rinse the filter (something every other model requires once after every few cleaning tasks).

Perhaps the Matic would be a good choice? Maintenance is a lot less than other robots with fully featured base stations since it’s only refilling the internal water tank with a splash of cleaning solution (the most frequent task) and changing the bag. I think this robot lacks a smart cleaning mode. Obstacle avoidance seems rather smart (on par with the dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track and the Narwal Freo Z Ultra) where it elegantly weaves around obstacles. Due to the much higher profile, it is clumsy when cleaning toe kicks but this doesn’t seem to be important for you. You could also consider other robot vacuum mops with a fully featured base station like the dreame X50 Ultra which is also rather quiet when running but there will generally be more maintenance than the Matic and I’m not sure if it cleans carpets as well. For maintenance, it cleans its own mop pad cleaning tray the best and the onboard dust filter when autoemptying (haven’t found another robot which does this) so cleaning frequency is reduced to once every two weeks. The autoemptying being split into two bursts is also helpful for noise. This robot has a smart cleaning mode which some users find smart and other users find not smart. It also has great obstacle avoidance and can get into areas with lower clearance compared to the Matic. You’d have to clean the dustbin and filter once every two weeks and give it a good wipe down once in a while (the app reminds you). The most frequent task to care for it is to empty and refill the water tanks. As a rather lazy person, I use a silver ion module in the clean water tank and a deodorization and disinfection module in the dirty water tank to neutralize smells coming from the dirty water tank which has dog drool and more nasties. Works pretty well when I run it twice a day (I’d empty and refill once every two days). The models I mentioned all work great with pet hair and fur, have a pretty decent app at minimum, obstacle avoidance is really good, pretty decent carpet cleaning

I think the x50 tries to keep a wide berth around pets. I think the camera enabled Narwal models such as the Freo Z(10) Ultra or the Narwal flow will do the same. My corgi does not care for the robot, at all. The most he does is let out a dismissive huff when the side brush tickles his whiskers. He also likes to block the way, trapping the robot and always successfully causing an error message.

Models with conical anti-tangling brushes + live fur compression that works will be what I'll prioritize in a robot. Since your dogs shed a lot, I recommend the Dreame X50 Ultra or the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete, depending on which one is available. If both are available, I'd choose the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete for the DuoSolution tank, which allows you to add a regular floor mopping detergent and a pet odor-focused detergent for deeper cleaning to eliminate dog smells. Both models have live hair compression in the dustbin when it vacuums to best utilize the space and means the dustbin won't be functionally clogged from the inlet to the filter area but with space to spare on the sides (this has happened several times to my robot vacuum and I only have one corgi) and this has been proven to work.

JustADad tests robot vacuums like a dad so he would often force the robot to do things in the wrong order. For example, in the X50 Ultra video, he tried to force it to climb a threshold and make it lower it’s tower to fit under things during the *initial mapping* when the app explicitly states that the versalift only works after the initial mapping and I think the same is with the legs.

Dreame/MOVA models with an RGB camera and Narwal camera enabled models are best at obstacle avoidance. As for hair: dreame/MOVA models with the TriCut brush will do just fine with human hair and pet fur. For longer hair, I’d look at the dreame L/X40 and newer (MOVA P10 Pro Ultra and newer) as the new side brush design is more tangle resistant compared to the previous one. If your pet sheds a lot, I’d recommend the Dreame x50 ultra as it can compress fur in its dustbin as it vacuums. Narwal’s Freo Z Ultra is a good choice for hair and fur too. It has great obstacle avoidance and will have the best smart cleaning program. There is also the LDS-only Freo Z10 which will be able to mop closer to edges and untangle any tangled hair on its side brushes These models all are combo models that mop much better than a swiffer. Upcoming models that will mop better than the previous models: MOVA Z50 Ultra and the Narwal Flow.

This was the best self cleaning model for the ones you mentioned. Qrevo models such as the Curv and the edge should be easier to clean as the entire mop tray can be removed so bending down for long times isn’t needed to clean it. You’d still have to bend down to remove the dustbin’s filter to clean it and tap the dust out once every few cleaning tasks. Dreame X50 Ultra cleans its own dustbin’s filter while autoemptying.

No robot can enter a space with a clearance of 7cm. You’d have to prop your bed up by putting things under the bed’s legs if you want it to clean under your bed. The x50 ultra would be better if you mean you want the whole robot to clean under the counter. 2. The x50 ultra’s dual brushes generally require less maintenance than the TriCut brush as there are less moving parts

Below is a comparison photo testing how the Narwal Flow (top panels) compares with the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track (bottom panels) when cleaning carpet with the optimal carpet settings turned on (cleaning twice in a checkerboard pattern and Narwal flow’s pressurized cleaning head being activated). Dreame’s track type roller mop (which was fine tuned over time with MOVA’s G20, G30, and the Z50 Ultra) also seems to be the leading solution since it can exert 18N of pressure when mopping (the most exerted by a roller mop robot and MOVA Z50 Ultra does the same) and can mop with warm water thanks to an onboard water heater heating it up to 45°C (Narwal’s 36°C claim is from the warm water filled at the station). https://preview.redd.it/ej07u60mjk5f1.jpeg?width=1436&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d20f83c2d8b38f54734ef4980fa94c1ff31bde87 Since you live in a home that is rather dusty, I’d check out the dreame L40S Ultra, L40S Pro Ultra, L/X50 Ultra and the MOVA V50 Ultra for the filter self cleaning function when autoemptying. Due to size constraints and the addition of a track type roller mop, the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track uses a different autoempty system and lacks the filter self cleaning function. If there’s a threshold higher than 3cm, I’d recommend the MOVA V50 Ultra, Dreame X50 Ultra, and the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track. If choosing between the MOVA V50 Ultra and the Dreame X50 Ultra, the MOVA V50 Ultra is the better flagship for near-identical models as the vacuuming performance was improved over the x50 Ultra and has the duosolution detergent tank which is well suited for homes needing odors to neutralize since there’s another tank for odor neutralizing detergent. The fact that it can dry the dustbin and dustbag is also a plus for mildew control. The mopping has been improved with tilting mop pads (up to 5°) to automatically adjust to the floor level and can spin up to 260RPM over the X50’s maximum of 180RPM if it detects a liquid or dried on mess. If you want a roller mop robot right now, the eufy E25/E28 or the MOVA Z50 Ultra is a good choice. The MOVA Z50 Ultra will mop more thoroughly though and will know when to clean its mops better with the onboard turbidity sensor facing the mop. If you want to compare the MOVA Z50 Ultra to the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track, the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track should be slightly better for raw mopping performance (only difference is warmer water when mopping), better edge cleaning with an extendable mop (still not as good as spinning mops which is common for roller mop robots with an extending mop), better at antitangling with the double anti tangle brushes (both models’ mop scrapers are comb shaped to help with any potential tangles and I haven’t seen this on roller mop robots from other brands), much better self cleaning (100°C mop cleaning with a PTC plate, dustbin and dustbag drying, and the duosolution tank), better vacuuming, much better obstacle avoidance from the binocular RGB cameras that avoids obstacles without needing to backtrack like all other Dreame and MOVA models and it seems Dreame’s obstacle avoidance is now on par with the Narwal Freo z based on Chinese KOL reviews, and much better obstacle climbing with the ProLeap system .

Roborock isn’t as good as other brands when it comes to poop avoidance. Dreame, Eufy S1 pro, and Narwal are much better at this. MOVA is a subbrand of dreame. Narwhal Freo Z ultra Narwal flow should be better for carpets though but the lack of any hair tangle measures on the mop is an issue considering how the MOVA Z50 Ultra which mops great and works great with long hair with similar poop avoidance performance has combs to help with hair tangles on the mop. Eufy also doesn’t have very good carpet cleaning and as good edge cleaning compared to the previous two An all rounder should be the dreame X50 Ultra for fur compression if there are heavy shedders or the dreame x40 ultra/ MOVA P10 Pro Ultra if the main issue is mainly just long hair.

How tall is the piece of transition? For a single one up to 30mm, the roborock models with the AdaptiLift chassis (the most expensive QRevo Curv/Edge and the Saros line). Anything higher up to 4.2cm, if a threshold is less than 9cm long (5.2cm if it is at least 9cm long), will need the Dreame X50 Ultra or any equivalent MOVA model (V50 Ultra). I am aware that Dreame's L/X50 Ultra and any model (such as MOVA's V50 Ultra or the rare UK-only Dreame L40s Pro Ultra) that uses dual conical brushes has a *live fur compression* feature (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOOU0uJsVdU), which helps mitigate the issue of pet fur clogging the dustbin, even though the space isn't fully utilized. I saw it in action, and I think it lives up to its claim. It also cleans its filter when auto-emptying. This should be helpful for homes with heavy shedders such as yours\~ For paw prints, I think a robot that can identify messes like this and act accordingly would be important too. Dreame and Narwal do well with this if you turn on certain functions, such as their smart cleaning mode and intelligent mess detection.

Many robots cannot mop with warm or hot water. This is currently a new feature on upright vacuum mop combos. Currently there is only hot water mop washing on most models. The roborock Saros 10 claims to mop with hot water up to 70° and the Saros 10R claims to mop with warm water. I am skeptical of this claim as it doesn’t use a roller mop where it feasibly could live up to this claim. There is the upcoming MOVA Z50 Ultra that can mop with constant 36° water as it has a track type roller mop which makes this claim achievable. Generally, most robot vacuums also do fail when it comes to living up to the hot water mop washing claim. Dreame made models do reach the advertised temperature but it is mainly only for a moment and it’ll usually be washing the mops with lukewarm to warm water In the EU market, I’d recommend Xiaomi as the most cost effective robot vacuum mop combo brand unless you’d like the extra bells and whistles such as hot water mop washing + mop extension where it’ll be better to consider brands like dreame. Most of its combo models are compatible with the anti-tangling dreame TriCut brush. It works well in my home with a long haired corgi and people with long hair. The Xiaomi x20 pro looks rather nice. For obstacle avoidance, please tidy up your cables. Most LDS-only robots are rather stupid when it comes to reflective or transparent walls. I recommend models with good obstacle avoidance if your cat makes messes robots cannot clean and must avoid at all costs. This usually requires RGB cameras. If the best obstacle avoidance is what you’re looking for: Narwal Freo Z ultra or any of their RGB camera enabled robots. It currently seems to have the best (not perfect!) smart cleaning mode. Its strength lies in its good mopping and anti-tangling but sadly not vacuuming. Dreame RGB camera enabled models starting from the X30 Ultra and onwards. MOVA is a subbrand of dreame so RGB camera enabled robots from the P10 Pro Ultra and newer will perform similarly as it will use the same obstacle avoidance software. Dreame is a rather good all rounder combo robot with the best edge cleaning. Antitangling performance is also rather good. Eufy S1 Pro and other models that will use the “3D Matrix” binocular infrared 3D dToF sensor array. Roborock is also a good all rounder with the easiest app to use but it will not be as good avoiding obstacles such as cables and pet messes compared to other brands, especially on carpets. For self cleaning: Dreame/MOVA models with the AceClean dryboard where water jets are used to clean the mops. The x50 ultra will be best at self cleaning including cleaning its own filter when autoemptying but it is currently outside your budget. > dreame models that use the self driven wipers on the mop washboard ≈ roborock models using a mop washboard with motorized wipers ≈ NarWal’s mop washboard where they flush the washboard with water before and after washing the mops.

I'm sorry, €600 is not enough to get a robot with a side brush and side mop extension :( Dreame is currently the best at deploying the side brush and extended mop with the best edge mopping. Also, I have a long-haired corgi that sheds a lot too so I run my robot to vacuum first before mopping, and I find that the dustbag holds pretty well. It'll fill up really quickly the first time, but after that, it becomes a lot more manageable\~ You could consider robots with a hair compression in the dustbin feature like the X50 Ultra (€1399 at it.dreametech), which seems to live up to its claim. If you are fine without hair compression, look at the MOVA P50 Pro Ultra (899 EUR). MOVA is a dreame subbrand, so it shares all the same software. This means that the side brush and mop extension performance will be the same. This is currently the best-priced model as it shares the same AceClean dryboard system, which is currently the best self-cleaning mop washboard for spinning mop I have seen. If I were you, I'd go for this one, considering how it is currently the most cost-efficient model that meets all your needs. Both models mentioned have a 3-year warranty.

Eufy is not mentioned because it does not have this capability. Best mopping: Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track and the MOVA Z50 Ultra has the best raw mopping performance. If your pets are stinky, the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track or the MOVA V50 Ultra will be my recommendation as it has the duosolution detergent tank which means it can use a special odor neutralizing solution or your regular floor cleaning solution based on your preferences set in the app. The MOVA V50 Ultra does mop better than the Dreame X50 Ultra because it can spin its mops up to 260rpm when it detects dried on stains and liquids and because it has a new mop pad holder that basically has suspension as it can go up 2mm and down 1mm downwards and tilt up to 5° to put as even pressure as possible on uneven floors. Honorable mention: Narwal Freo Z Ultra. Shame it cannot lift its side brushes. Variable mopping pressure of 8-12N but pales in comparison to the 18N of mopping pressure by the Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track and the MOVA Z50 Ultra. Best software for detecting liquids and appropriately dealing with them: Dreame L/X40 and newer including the Aqua 10 pro track based on reviews. The MOVA Z50 ultra and the other MOVA models mentioned are also pretty good too at detecting liquids. Previously mentioned Roborock and Narwal models also seem to do well. I think all the models I mentioned should be on par for automatic remopping. Hardware: All models I mentioned should have a solid build quality.

It depends on tall your thresholds are: For single thresholds: Up to 2cm: most modern robots can cross with no difficulty Up to 2.2cm: Dreame L/X40 Ultra. The dreame models with the EasyLeap wheels (L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and the L50 Ultra) can cross the first threshold up to 2.2cm and a secondary threshold right after up to 1.8cm Up to 3cm: roborock models with the AdaptLift chassis. It can cross a single threshold up to 3cm and a secondary threshold right after up to 1cm. Up to 3.5cm: the MOVA P60 Pro Ultra (mainland china only for now) has active suspension like the roborock Adaptlift chassis and the EasyLeap edge climbing wheels to climb a single threshold up to 3.5cm and a secondary threshold up to 3.5cm. Up to 4.2cm: Dreame X50 Ultra, Dreame Aqua 10 Pro Track, and the MOVA V50 Ultra all can cross a single threshold up to 4.2cm if the threshold is shorter than 9-10cm (5.2cm if the threshold is sufficiently long enough) and a secondary threshold up to 1.8cm.

Some reviewers check how the robot is doing after cleaning 1000sqm and only refilling the water tank and detergent by inspecting the filter, how clean the mops are, the brush compartment, etc. It seems the best one for long term low maintenance would be the upcoming X50 ultra as it seems to be the only model that cleans its own filter.

For hair, the Dreame X50 Ultra will be much better as it had the automatic fur compression feature that works as it vacuums. If available, the Dreame L40S Ultra/Pro Ultra and the L50 Ultra are cheaper models with this same fur compression feature and lack the ProLeap system which is fine in your home. I also found a life hack for the X50 Ultra where you can change the mop pad holders to be the ones where it has suspension (it can go up 2mm and down 1mm and tilt up to 5°) for more evenly applied pressure for uneven floors.

The dreame X50 Ultra will be the best for self cleaning. It can clean its filter of fine dust when autoemptying since the air from the autoempty station blows through the filter in the opposite direction of the airflow when vacuuming. If not in the US, these models will also have the same self cleaning functionality: Dreame L50 Ultra; Dreame L40S Pro Ultra; Dreame L40S Ultra; and the MOVA V50 Ultra. As far as I know, roborock model has this functionality.

Most high end robot vacuums have learned to avoid this area with some models marking it as “furniture likely to get stuck on”. If the chairs’ horizontal legs are shorter than 3cm, both the roborock models with Adaptlift and the Dreame X50 Ultra/MOVA V50 Ultra will lift themselves to get over it. If higher than 3cm, only the dreame X50 Ultra and the MOVA V50 Ultra can cross it.

After daily vacuuming then mopping, my hardwood floors became notably softer and had a shine. I’d recommend robots with roller mops or spinning mops. For roller mop robots, I’d recommend the eufy S1 (Pro), eufy E25/E28, MOVA Z50 Ultra, and the Narwal Flow. All of these robots except for the eufy E25/E28 will have good obstacle avoidance. For spinning mop robots, I’d recommend dreame/MOVA robots with the AceClean/jetspray dryboard, the Narwal Freo line with an all in one base station, the roborock qrevo line. If obstacle avoidance is important, I’d consider the Dreame L40S Pro Ultra, L/X50 Ultra and the Narwal Z/Z10 Ultra.

The dreame X50 ultra has the most space in the dustbin for fur and the onboard fur compression feature is also rather helpful. All three models will do well with obstacle avoidance, fur anti-tangling, and mopping. The Narwal Freo Z ultra will mop the best with the best smart cleaning mode but users report it’s not water efficient at all to achieve this good mopping and you may have to refill the clean water tank during a mopping run. Have you considered the eufy E25? It should work well for fur and mop well.

Saros and edge could have much better obstacle avoidance, especially when it comes to cords. Since you have uneven floors and a lot of cords, I’d recommend the upcoming Dreame X50 Ultra. I think that at 8.9cm, it’ll be enough. Unlike the Saros, the X50 Ultra can: Mop uneven floors better as its mop holders can tilt independently up to 5 degrees. Compress fur in the dustbin *as it vacuums* Clean its own filter when auto emptying Identify obstacles such as cords and pet messes much better Double anti-tangling brushes make it much better suited for both carpeted and hard floors while taking care of long hair and fur. Much better base station self cleaning with the AceClean water jet approach instead of the wiper system the roborock uses. Also, I’m confused as to why you said the slim is great for dodging cords on the floor when you previously said the robots haven’t been opened yet.

A couple comments. I have the X40 pro Ultra and can say that the lifting/lowering lidar is a big deal to me. It can now get under all the furniture in my house to vac and mop. The dual roller design of the x40 pro ultra is different and is the same as the top Roborock - it is the best I have had for carpets and much better than the single brush too. I noticed that you had all rubber brushes which are not as good on carpet as bristle. You can get a rubber /bristle combo for the vac ( if it wasn't already included) which will improve carpet cleaning performance significantly.

I have two Dreame x40s. Probably one of the best robot vacuums from the last generation. The new generation is the Roborock Saros 10R and Dreame X50. As for the x40, I have two of them and they have probably the best object avoidance on the market while also have great cleaning performance. I run them both on a daily schedule and they have no issues cleaning my house without eating cords, cat toys and other random things that end up on the floor. The obstacle avoidance lets me run it daily without having to prep my house. If you have to prep your house, or can't run the robot on a schedule, it makes a robot vacuum a lot less useful. I basically don't have to think about the robot outside of refilling it's water and cleaning the filter. I also tried the QRevo slim but returned it since its obstacle avoidance wasn't as good. It cleaned well, but the Dreame cleaned just as well while having superior object avoidance so kept the Dreame. Since the new generation of robots just came out, I would wait a bit before buying but it looks like the Saros 10R might be one of the best picks right now. The Dreame x50 also looks good but I've heard some issues and bugs with the software but it does have better features like a self cleaning vacuum filter. Either way I would wait a bit for bugs to be ironed out and more reviews to come out.

The L40 and Mova p10 pro ultra are effectively identical. Same part numbers on the docks. Only difference being that the L40 can leave it's mop pads at the dock. The Dreame x50 is the best out of the ones you listed but it's probably out of your budget. The Roborock s8 pro ultra does not have a camera based obstacle avoidance system and is frankly old tech at this point, would not recommend it. The X40 ultra is possibly the best value out of the bunch it you can get it for $500-$700. Basically identical to the l40 and Mova P10 pro ultra but has longer battery life and slight difference obstacle avoidance sensors but still the l40 and X40 perform better than anything else for the money with regards to object avoidance. Since you have only hardfloors, I still think a roller mop style robot is probably best for you since spinning mop system tend to smear debris around while rollers like the Eufy s1 and E25/e28 always keep the mop clean. If you can get a Eufy e25 within your budget, I would get that, if not I would look at the Dreame l40 or Mova P10 pro ultra, which ever is cheaper.

I also recommend Just A Dad. The YouTube affiliate-link sellers are all shilling the Roborock Saros at the moment. However, his testing shows that while it cleans quite well, the object avoidance really hasn't gotten much better. It runs over a cable and a fairly big Lego construction like they aren't there. My mid-range Dreame would have chomped the cable but would have avoided Lego 1/3 that size all day long. I think he updated the comments to say Roborock had reached out to him to explain the cable and his carpet was the wrong colour or something. The Dreame X50 does well with obstacle avoidance but looks lost otherwise trying to find its way around. Personally, I'd get the Dreame X40 if you don't need the threshold jumping as it had all the bugs ironed out and was pretty much perfect by all accounts.

I just ran my new Dreame X50 Ultra today and coming from a Roomba 900 series it is amazing. Doesn’t bump into stuff all the time, doesn’t tangle on cords, can hardly hear it when it’s running, mop gets 90% of the stuff stuck to the floor in the first pass, app is easy to use. However, their customer service is beyond atrocious. I’ve been dealing with trying to return and get a refund for an unopened L40 for over a month now. If you buy a vacuum try to buy it through someone else like Amazon or CostCo as it sounds like pretty much every major robot vacuum company out there has very terrible customer service.

From my experience, the X50 Ultra and the Saros 10R really cater to different needs. If getting over high thresholds is a priority, the X50 Ultra does shine in overcoming them. However, like you and some others mentioned, it might face challenges with navigation and noise issues. I tried the Saros 10R for its efficient mapping and quieter operation. It's solid unless you're dealing with complex room layouts where thresholds aren’t a major concern. We also have the many tiny steps issue. What we did was observe that the hall, kitchen and dining area was all at the same level and so a single vacuum could do it easily. In practice having the main living area vacuumed and mopped daily makes a huge difference and more than justified the purchase. I backed the Kickstarter you mentioned. I was pretty nervous given the company had no track record but the idea of vacuuming the other rooms was too tempting. The final note read to me like the whole thing was to measure market interest. Basically that they never had a product that could be produced reliably. There are robots with some support for steps. The Dreame X50 springs to mind. For me that was nowhere near enough to be useful and I suspect the same for you.

The problem with CES 2025 robots is that there are very few independent reviews of any of them right now. They're just starting to come out for the Dreame X50, for example, and while the demos at CES looked amazing and the advertised features were great, initial feedback is very mixed, to the point that I'd recommend holding off on the X50 for a little bit. There's a good chance that Dreame will work out those issues with firmware updates, as their previous robots are a lot better for these specific problem areas, but you might have a disappointing experience for a while before that happens. I will bring up the Eufy S1 Pro (which should surprise no one who follows the subreddit :-) ). There's at least one independent review which found that the Eufy does better at cleaning textured surfaces than the competition at the time; see The Hook Up's 2024 robovac review on YouTube (not the budget one). I've owned one since October, and have been happy with its performance, but be aware that carpet vacuuming and edge cleaning are not as good as other robovacs. There's a little more maintenance to do regarding the dirty water tank; I do a quick cleaning of the mesh filter and a rinse-out weekly. Plus, the auto-empty isn't as good at getting fine dust out of the HEPA filter, so I also blow that out weekly. Hair tangles are handled in a so-so manner, so I'd also factor in cleaning out the axles weekly if you have long-haired people or animals in the household. Other than that and refilling/emptying the water tanks, it's pretty hands off. The app will remind you of the other maintenance items, like replacing the roller or the dust filter, though you'll want to check the dust bag yourself to see if it's full. There's also a proprietary detergent bottle; you can run without it, but it does seem to have benefits, and the bottle lasts a long time. (I'm still on my first bottle, which is more than half full after mopping at least twice a week since I've owned it.) As to durability: there are people who bought the Eufy during the Kickstarter phase who have had no problems since, only replacing the typical wear items. There are also people who have had problems, so you might want to search Reddit to get a good idea of the distribution. Also, to the advice given by FarConcern2308, the Eufy does not have a "vacuum first, then mop" setting; it will always vacuum while mopping, though I believe the Eufy is designed to handle some liquid in the vacuum system.

What's more important for you: great hard floor mopping and so-so carpet vacuuming, or the reverse? Unfortunately, even with the most expensive robots, it's all about compromise. If you prioritize mopping, you can go two routes right now: "dumber" but really good mopping, or second-rate mopping that makes up for it with smart features. For the former, I believe the market leader is still the Eufy S1 or S1 Pro, with its roller mop. The roller mop is superior largely because it cleans the roller as it mops and collects dirty water on the robot itself, while all the rest rely on going back to the dock to clean the mop occasionally, leaving more of a possibility of spreading dirt around rather than taking it off the floor. Look at the extra features for the Pro to see if they're worth the extra money. There are a few newer robots that have roller mops with some better features, but reviews have been mixed at best for these, so proceed with caution; these would include the Ecovacs Deebot X8 and Yeedi S14 (which are largely the same unit with a few different features and prices, as Yeedi is the budget brand for Ecovacs). Most of the top flagship robots fall into the second category, including the Roborock Saros 10R and Dreame X50. I've described how roller mops are better than the spinning pads of these robots. These higher-end robots make up for that by analyzing what it's doing with various features to recognize stains or messes, or sensing dirt in the water used to wash the mop. In those cases, it will pay more attention to messy spots, go back early to wash the mop, or re-mop areas it thinks might have been too dirty to clean effectively the first time. This can be more effective than a dumb roller mop -- when the AI systems actually figure out that something needs to happen, which they don't always do. These seem to be improving over time, though. If you prioritize vacuuming, my advice would likely be the same for preferring smart mops, as those flagships also tend to be better at vacuuming than roller mops have been so far. These would also be good choices if you're not as willing to sacrifice some vacuuming performance for top-notch mopping. My experience with the Eufy S1 Pro is that the carpet performance is OK, but not great, and I have no reason to believe other roller mops have improved on that. Finally, there are a number of robots due to be released in the next few months that promise to give you the best of all worlds: great roller mop performance with smart mopping and awesome vacuuming. These would include the Mova Z50 and Narwal Flow. Of course, we won't know for sure until we have good independent reviews available; they apparently exist in Chinese, but I don't have access to those, so can't comment. It's possible that the new robots won't be any better than what you can get now, so it's up to you whether it's worth waiting.

The Shark models with LiDAR and older Roombas are very good on carpet. lol. Which means good at deep cleaning to me. I tried the Mova P10 Pro Ultra which is basically a Dreame L40. The dreame X50 is good on carpets none of the other Dreame/MOVA are. The MOVA v50 coming out will be good on carpets it’s similar to an X50. I recently got a shark 2in1 with the side vent that puffs air at the wall. There’s is a newer slightly updated model that can drop the pads. I previously had a J7+ Roomba. Who knows if the new ones not made by them but branded iRobot Roomba still are any good. I don’t recommend the roombas though really. And who knows about the newer models.

The Dreame X50 Ultra would laugh at this "challenge", if the edges are too high, two legs will come out under it (kinda 3 stage cat-legs), and it will just climb over it. If the edge is not too high, it will just raise the two wheels and jump on it. It also have a mysterious edge cleaning feature which means it will kind of "line-follow, like a line-following robot" the edges, and usually take those at the end of the cleaning. Source: I have one.

It's going to be hard to get an reliable recommendation for you, because if you've ever read this forum, you'll realize people are "fan" of their own brand, sometimes of their own models and what they just bought, this is natural and people love to feel good about the stuff they invested in, or just rage about the bad service on their particular brand. The truth is seldom black and white, it's all the shades inbetween, you have your experience with your robots, house, obstacles, expectations, what you got, what you want etc. We don't see your house, we don't know how tidy you are, how many kids, dogs, cats you have etc. So for us its near impossible, and you're gonna get our personal stories about our experience (which you can find by the thousands already in this forum) in here. I have 2 of them, one is a renamed mid-range roborock with base station, it's a mid tier 500$ one, really good suction, has only 2Kpa and sucks better than my Dreame X50 Ultra at 1500$, but there are some premium differences. For example, I've read peoples complaints in here, they are often based on losing maps, not detecting objects, not cleaning up turds or a bowl of cereals properly and making a mess of the place, hairs getting stuck, cleaning the robot more than cleaning the floor itself etc. And those with positive first-time-review experiences (yay I got one and it's amazing 1st day). The truth is much broader, you need to: 1) Figure out your needs. 2) Figure out where the old one you had failed your expecations. 3) How much work you are willing to put in. 4) What kind of scenarios you can accept, what you're not willing to accept etc. 5) Just buy one of the top-end models and learn from that too. In my case, the two first years with the middle-range bot was like this, it is amazing at sucking up sand from carpets, it sucks at mopping (to the degree I never use that function anymore, more cleaning and hassle than worth it at all), it is kinda dumb...it will be slightly suicidal and seek cables I've not even yet found myself just to end its life right there, and it's got a mind of its own, it also speeds up or slows down in two variable speeds, and thats it. It's not the brightest bot, but it does auto-empty, has a big bag in the base station, and has good filters for not "spreading" dust particles all over the house, so it's doomed to my bedroom with zero cables now, however it does escape the FIRST chance it got, it will make haul it for the door the moment I forgot it, and directly go for my cabled workshop to end its days there. It's kinda good when it works, and it's really got a mind of its own. Like yours, it frequently dumbs out on the base station and has to aim for it several times. The X50 Ultra dreame is a relatively new addition, when I went all out and splurged, I've had it over a month now, and it has it's downsides too. Not terribly good on sandy carpets, it can get trapped in IKEA style feet (you know, frames on the floor) because it can't see those. It excells at climbing sills and doorsteps, but only when programmed to climb straight (this is something you need to do in the App). It excells at deep cleaning (something I've never seen in a bot before), and has brought my hardwood floors to their original shine, it requires frequent water fill-ups, but it doesn't fail - yet, but I've seen people here report on it losing the mops, leaving the mops, leaking from the base, leaking from the unit etc.

Dreame X50 Ultra can be connected to water and spillwater outlets/intakes. There's even a special version called Dreame X50 Master, that is only made to be connected to permanent water, it even has a "garage" that opens and closes so you can build it right into your kitchen, doesn't get more "connected" than that. Bias: I have one.

The X50's Vacuum function is supposed to be 20K suction power, it's not, maybe on paper. I have a cheap 2K Suction power that is better on carpets with sand thant the X50 Ultra is, that is one of the X50s weak spots. It sometimes gets caught between various tables, especially if it cannot see the feet because the Lidar radar is too high and it could use the camera + AI to find out, it does not do that yet. Another surprisingly useful area is its voice assistant, I use that more than I thought I would, so I can leave the phone alone, OK Dreame, Start cleaning - is useful. We need more specific commands like: \- Ok, Dreame - Start cleaning Kitchen \- Ok, Dreame - Start cleaning hallway Etc. Also those commands should have custom settings, for example the hallway is only carpeting, so the options to leave the mops and be able to custom set every command is vital here. This is fully doable in a relatively simple firmware update. Also Dreame as a company started as a very innovative company and wanted to do different things in comparison to other companies, they should encourage DIY repairs because their community is one of the best I've seen.

My cats are weirdos and demand to be fed in a new place everyday so hopefully they fix it. What’s odd is it sees it and avoids it but then will turn back into it and run it over because it doesn’t mark it as an obstacle. Maybe if I change to the other climbing style it might not idk.

I started with a cheap $200 Roomba. It would run into everything to orient itself. Upgraded to a $400 lefant N3 and it was much better. Better obstacle avoidance, suction, battery, navigation, and wouldn't run in to stuff to orient itself. The mop was meh and it would tangle on short hair often so I upgraded again to $600 mova p10 pro ultra and wow it's amazing. Like a 9/10 in my books. Navigation could be slightly better, and mopping is good but could be even better but very satisfied overall. I can't live without robo vacs anymore and recommend everyone try a good one out. I'd say the best would be one of like dreame x50 ultra or robo rock 10R or narwal freo z ultra but those are like $1400

Thanks for this review, I own the X40 and I don't see any reason to switch to the X50 as of now. FOr some reason it looks like the X50 may be a downgrade. I wish they didn't change so much and simply improved on the X40 by adding the retractable lidar sensor and adding the height feature to go over taller saddles in between rooms which is actually a great features for many homes FYI.

If you have cats or dogs, you know how exhausting shedding season can be. No matter how much you sweep or mop, pet hair just keeps coming back. Since getting the Dreame X50 Ultra, I’ve actually noticed a difference—even my allergies have improved! One thing I really appreciate is its pet hair detection system, which automatically boosts suction to pick up fur and food crumbs more effectively. Plus, it no longer pushes pet bowls around, which used to be a constant annoyance. And the best part? The hot water mop washing and drying system. My floors stay fresh, and there’s no lingering pet odor. Definitely a solid upgrade for pet owners!

I had to get a new robot to handle high pile carpets. The dreame x50 can get up on the carpet, but the ai obstacle avoidance (at least on my multicolour rug) kept thinking there were objects in its way so it would get "trapped" in a completely open space. The Roborock qrevo curv worked well, though. less advanced obstacle avoidance, so it's not getting confused by phantom obstacles, and it has specific setting for lifting its body on high pile carpets.

All vacuum robots are very similar in that matter. As long as the robot has some sensors to avoid collisions, or even better, a camera to avoid getting near the pet to begin with, there's nothing better you can do. My cat also freaked out when I first started mapping the house.I couldn't even hold her, she was completely mental at that point, trying to kill that robot at all costs. But after a few weeks it's not a deal at all for her anymore, she sometimes ignores it completely and sometimes annoys the shit out of it by repeatedly attacking the sidebrush. My dog is mostly afraid of it and avoids it like the plague, and only occasionally gives it a curiosity sniff. Any my vacuum has no pet avoidance either, the X50 is much better at this task.

I like my dream X 50 also! the only problem I have is getting it to go under objects efficiently and cleaning next to kitchen cabinets that have a lip that is 10 cm high. The light are LIDAR can fit underneath it, but it still will not go under the cabinets without me marking it as a low point Where it has to come back after cleaning with the LIDAR down and clean it

My x50 is great, very happy with my purchase. I have a busy house with multiple pets and kids, there has been ZERO hair tangles. I have used mine for 1900 sq meters of cleaning in 2537 run time, so its been going a lot in my house. It has only been tangled once on a cord, the obstacle avoidance is amazing. it uses a lot of water so if you want to mop often be prepared to fill the tank multiple times a week, depending on your house size. The app, obstacle avoidance, vacuuming are all amazing. Mopping is good. I will say i would guess the paint roller style mopping systems like eufy s1 pro would probably do a better job in mopping compared to the rotating pads the x50 has, but i doubt the obtacle avoidance, app and threshold clearances are as good on the eufy compared to the x50. Goodluck in your decision!

Is better to get one nice robot than 5 cheap ones. Cheap ones don’t have auto emptying bin, auto mop wash, anti hair tangle brush, etc. You will be maintaining 5 cheap robots, that means, emptying their bins, refilling their water, washing their mops, cleaning their brushes from hair, etc… Roborock has the [Q-Revo Curv](https://global.roborock.com/pages/roborock-qrevo-curv-series) Dreame has the [X50 Ultra](https://global.dreametech.com/products/x50-ultra) to be released later this year. The Roborock can climb up to 4cm and the Dreame claims it will climb 6cm. They are both as hands free as they get. The catch is the price but if you can afford it they are definitely worthy. Roborock has an official integration with Home Assistant and Dreame has one through HACS. I’m a robot vacuum enthusiast and I have one Roborock and one Dreame. Thinking about upgrade to the new X50 Ultra when it comes out.

So I don't know about objectively. But I will tell you that after not owning a robovac since like 2019 I decided to buy the Dreame X50 last week and boy am I impressed. I live with my wife who has long hair, 1 longhaired cat and 2 short haired cats and a dog that sheds quite a bit. My previous vac would tangle all the time. It's still early, but I ran the x50 quite a lot over the past week - and the first day I didn't pre vacuum with my dyson, so there was quite a lot of hair around. I do remember seeing the vacuum wars review that 0% of the 7" hair tangled. Hope this helps.

For me, it's insane how far the tech has come since I had that roomba years ago. It was really quick, like 5-10 minutes of it just driving around using the camera to look around the rooms, and then it was mapped. It automatically detected thresholds etc. It also mapped some cupboard, although it mapped it as a low-zone, which caused the lidar to go down, which in turn made it pretty bad at cleaning underneath it. I could tell it could fit without retracting, so I removed the zone and now it cleans there perfectly too. It also detects changes no problem. We didn't have our new couch yet so our living room was mostly empty, but we set up the couch etc and it just started cleaning around it, and on the map you can even see where the legs are. I think most of the vacs has this but the picture function I really appreciate too. It's nice that it shows me what it sees as obstacles and why it didnt go there, for example cords hanging, or stuff like that. It's also insane to me how quiet the vacuum is, the noisiest it gets is if it turns the turbo mode or, or if the dock is emptying the vacuum.
