I have a UK model 360 eye.. my son in law brought it to Australia for me when they weren’t available here. If I want anything from the UK I also have the option of using MyUS as they provide a UK forwarding address as well as a US one. Maybe you can buy one online from the UK? I love mine and I follow up washing the floor with the Dyson Wash G1.
r/dyson • New robot vacuum announced - spot + scrub AI ->Dear Nervous-Egg688, The first robot vacuum I ever bought was the Dyson 360 Eye. That robot failed to find it's dock 9 out of 10 times and would almost always be out of battery somewhere in home. However, the worst was suction. Due to its insane suction power, it got onto one of our nice rugs and got stuck. It kept at it for 45 minutes while we were out. When I came back home and picked up the robot, the entire patch of the rug was gone! Our fairy expensive, nice rug was ruined. That was the end of that robot in my home. And, the realization that rugs shed and really high suction power means that Dyson is probably constantly balding our rugs w/o we ever realizing it -- we just think it cleaned. When we dug into why this happened, we realized that HIGH suction power == greater cleaning is a bit of a misnomer. Back in 60s, we used to have these non-motorized sweepers would just move the brush roll and pick up things. We have Lego toy cleaners that do the same too. Turns out most of the work in vacuum cleaners is actually done by brush roll -- suction is only needed to take the picked-up dirt into the bag/bin. The analogy is that no matter how fast we drive our dusty cars, fine dirt doesn't go away - it needs to be nudged with a finger/cloth. (This also led to the realization that robots can also be quieter - we shouldn't need to pollute our homes with noise while cleaning dirty. Most vacuum makers use noise as a metaphor for efficacy. Higher noise == higher suction == better cleaning --- unfortunately, not true). In addition, we realized that brush rolls are either designed for carpet/RUG OR hardwood floor but don't work well. And, worse is hair wrapped around them, especially for pet owners. Hence, we completely redesigned the brush roll from scratch to be hair-tangle-free and work on any surface fairly well. In addition, big wheels allow it to get on the thick pile of rugs/carpets. We also build cleaning heads to move up and down, and we detect the thickness of rug and dynamically adjust brush roll speed, suction power, and cleaning head height for the best efficacy. This is one feature I am very proud of as we have heard that Matic cleans many rugs/carpets that manual or robot vacuums can't clean - and yes, Matic doesn't bald your rugs.
r/RobotVacuums • Matic Robots, co-founder here - AMA (unsynchronised - will answer within 24-36 hours) ->Hi DJCurrier, Matic co-founder here. We did lots of work here and have tested our robot extensively. One of the design principles was that a cleaning robot shouldn't pollute homes with noise. Hence, we really dug into suction power. We realized that lots of companies used suction power/noise as a metaphor for efficacy, but the brush roll is the biggest piece of the puzzle (think of manual, rotating brush sweepers of the '60s that picked up everything -- they were fine for hard surfaces, only rugs needed vacuums. But then most of our surfaces are hard surfaces, and too much suction actually bald rugs (i learned this the hard way when Dyson 360 Eye got stuck on our nice rug due to high suction and then entire patch of rug was gone because it stayed for 45 mins till battery ran out..sigh). So we designed a multi-surface brush roll and actuated cleaning head that dynamically adjusts height based on floor type and thickness of the rug. This allows it to not only clean rugs and hard surfaces really well, but also have the same efficacy. We felt that if the vacuum is quiet and as effective as anything out there, it will result in more usage, as it's not as much of a noise nuisance. (And kids/pets don't get scared of it). If you go to our blog on our website, we describe our brush roll design in detail and our mop roll. In addition, two external reviews recently came out (more will come soon) in Wired and Dr. KnowItAll's YouTube channel. You can get some 3rd party clarity there too. Happy to answer any questions you may have via DM too.
r/RobotVacuums • Thoughts on Matic? ->We have the Dyson 360 vis nav. It is a great vacuum but only a decent robot. It does good with our 3 dogs ( long, medium, and short hairs) and our two cats.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum for pet hair / high pile rugs / hardwood floors? (Vacuum only, not combo) I know it’s been asked before but answers seem inconclusive ->It’s a vacuum first and robot second. So it excels at vacuuming but its robot features are second rate when compared to roborock, dreame, and others. Its obstacle avoidance is subpar and lack of a lidar turret that holds it back for navigation. I love ours as it actually agitates the carpets/rugs and pulls embedded hair out too! It completes its Monday-Friday task around 90% of the time. But it lacks a spot clean feature that should be included for its price.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum for pet hair / high pile rugs / hardwood floors? (Vacuum only, not combo) I know it’s been asked before but answers seem inconclusive ->More like they are a salmon swimming against a current. Everyone else uses a lidar turret and it just works. Doesn’t matter it is the cheaper shark unit or a top of the line dreame lidar works. Dyson for some strange reason still wants to use vslam as the main navigation unit.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum for pet hair / high pile rugs / hardwood floors? (Vacuum only, not combo) I know it’s been asked before but answers seem inconclusive ->The Dyson 360 vis nav is great at vacuuming but is a subpar robot. Nothing will come close to its vacuuming performance on rugs/carpets.
r/RobotVacuums • Are there any robot vacuums that actually do a good job with medium-high pile rugs? ->With the recent updates, the Dyson 360 has not bumped into anything. Yes it doesn't have obstacle recognition but it does have side lasers that stop it from bumping. The navigation has also improved with the updates and now it can get from one end of my house to the other no issues. If you can find an old Electrolux pi92 that is triangle shape.
r/RobotVacuums • I just want a damn high-end vacuum with NO mop and a wide blade ->Dyson 360 or Roomba S9. They are just in a completely different league than anything else for vacuuming prowess, but do lack modern featues, such as object avoidance.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot Vacuum for carpet ->Got the Dyson 360 last month and so far loving it. We have carpet throughout the house and Dyson 360 does a great job of vacuum. Haven’t used the upright Dyson since the arrival of the 360 Vis Nav. I run it every other days. Read many negative feedbacks and stories on the Vis Nav but that seems to be related to the old firmware.
r/RobotVacuums • If money wasn’t an issue, what’s the best robot vacuum right now? ->If this is true I’d gladly buy one. I need a strong vacuum solution for my pet hair situation
r/RobotVacuums • Dog parents! What vacuum-only robot works GREAT for pet hair? ->What kind of dog do you have? We have a 62 lb Lab who seems to shed constantly. If I run the vacuum every day it’ll do the rug just fine. May leave 1-2 ropes. If I don’t run it every day, there will be more. The borders of the rug is where there are always ropes. I can run the robot twice and there will be ropes. I can run the Dyson then the robot and there will be ropes. I can pull the edges up, dyson under the rug, then Dyson the entire top of the rug and the robot runs—guess what I get along the edges? Ropes. Watching it carefully, the robot runs along the edge and there is a gap that it doesn’t have enough suction to pull a quarter ounce rope of dog hair. And when it passes by and the side brush pulls it under it’s a 50/50 chance for the robot to suck it up—on a hardwood floor or short nap rug. You can say what you want that Roomba has the best suction and if you look at Rtngs or vacuum wars they may in those particular test environments. However in real life my J8 is a fail in this use case. And if I run my 960 in the same area…no ropes. This is rug that’s about 3/8” and is light in weight. Roomba as the market leader should have a machine in their current lineup that has enough power to complete this mission. For a $500 machine to fail this is a design failure. I’d take it back to Costco but at a year, I’m not that type of person. I may buy a S9 but it’s not a great solution either as it’s no longer supported by Roomba, the J9 may or may not be suitable, the Dyson 360 would be worth a shot with its powerful vacuum but the navigation seems to still be a work in progress and for some reason, I’m hesitant to buy a roborock. I’d test them one by one but am not into tying up the capital. Roombas have been around for 23 years. For apologists to say they are still working the kinks out in the vacuum function, is a bit of a stretch at this point.
r/RobotVacuums • Dog parents! What vacuum-only robot works GREAT for pet hair? ->Of course, 100% yes as long as you're okay with no mopping and no self-emptying station.
r/dyson • New robot vacuum announced - spot + scrub AI ->I have worked on an tested a Dyson 360. It must have been a very early model. It had so many navigation problems and kept getting stuck on things that the owner ended up returning it. Hopefully these problems have been resolved by now. However, it did do an impressive job of vacuuming. Because of other issues, I was never able to use my three room carpet test on it. It may very well be an excellent candidate to replace our aging S8s with. I appreciate the insight! Thank you!
r/Roborock • When it comes to vacuuming rugs and carpets, I have not found anything that out performs the base model Roborock S8, including the Saros 10R ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
