i have just purchased the dyson 360 nav vis and found it works great. have a 2 bedroom flat but only use it in hte main room not bed rooms. took 40mins to map the unit. i have 1 small dog and one large long haired dog (samoyed) who leave hair around and the vac picks it up great, also the dust. i divide the cleaning into two areas and do at different times. one take 32 mins , the lounge room takes 15 mins. i like that i can empty the bin easily (like my dyson stick vac) so it keeps the smells down as the dust and dander gets emptied every day. it does not get lost and finds the dock before it runs out of power. i used it on auto and that seems to work great. i think i will use it every day. yeah no vac for me :-) well worth the money for my early xmas present. very happy with the unit and dyson. also works on hard floors and carpets and mats easily.
r/RobotVacuums • Has anyone purchased or tried Dyson's new Vis Nav Robot vac? ->I had electrolux pi92 and it was great but developed dead battery. So then I got iRobot j7 and it was good but iRobots bump into everything. Then I got Dyson 360 visnav and I couldn't believe how amazing it is.
r/RobotVacuums • Which is the best robot vacuum that you have used. ->Auto suction mode is the best. No bags to keep buying. Who wants to keep their dirt? The side lasers are down low, so can sense cables and low objects. The brush roll has fluffy part for hard floors and bristles for carpet. We all know that bristle is best for carpet. That brushroll is as wide as a normal plug in vacuum, so more efficient at it routes. I haven't cleaned the filter in 6 months because the cyclone is sooo good at removing the dirt from the air. I run it twice a week in a half carpet half hard floor house of 66 sqm (710sqft). The bin is half full from 1 run. Sure it doesn't have obstacle avoidance but if you clear the floor of clutter then it doesn't matter. Oh and it hasn't bumped into anything. It is learning more each time it goes. It does the middle of the room first, then the edges.
r/RobotVacuums • Which is the best robot vacuum that you have used. ->That video is out of date now. Dyson did a big update on the Vis Nav and it’s been working much better lately. [This video](https://youtu.be/Z88IaxEOwTY?si=oUdHqWGi-jEY-Xqz) from Just A Dad (and he has a lot more videos on it) and the vacuuming ability on carpet and hard floors seems to be extremely good. It’s still way overpriced for what it offers, but the performance is top tier.
r/RobotVacuums • Has anyone purchased or tried Dyson's new Vis Nav Robot vac? ->Check out [this video](https://youtu.be/Z88IaxEOwTY?si=oUdHqWGi-jEY-Xqz) from Just A Dad. He’s posted a lot of videos on it and it’s looking really impressive especially after recent updates. For carpet deep cleaning it can’t be beat.
r/RobotVacuums • Has anyone purchased or tried Dyson's new Vis Nav Robot vac? ->Dyson 360 viz nav is best for carpet pickup. Roomba S9+ is second, and provides the important convenience of auto-empty. Roomba J9+ is third and adds great object avoidance. Nothing else is in the ballpark for carpet cleaning.
r/RobotVacuums • Best for ONLY carpet ->Dyson 360 or Roomba S9. They are just in a completely different league than anything else for vacuuming prowess, but do lack modern featues, such as object avoidance.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot Vacuum for carpet ->I have 2 dyson Vis nav’s. One works great the other stops mid run for no apparent reason. You can wash the filter and reuse it. I will say my old Dyson 360 heurist is still the best robot vacuum I’ve ever owned for carpet cleaning. I watched a review on vacuum wars and he scored it lower than the high end roombas on deep cleaning but my experience has been drastically different. It pulls more dirt out of my carpet on low power than any vacuum I’ve had including: Dyson Vis nav, Roomba s9, Roomba J7 and J9+ combo, dreame L10S ultra, Neato D10. The list goes on and on. I’ve tested and used so many I’ve lost count. I should start a review site of my own.
r/RobotVacuums • What's the best robot vacuum? ->These robot combos don't actually deep clean your floors, they vacuum only large particles of dirt and mop in an inefficient way so they might spread dirt around (mopping pads and vibrating mop pad NOT the roller mop). For me it's best to have 2 separate robots, one for vacuuming only and the other for mopping only after the first one have finished. Here are the two robots that I would pick today for my house: - Dyson Vis Nav (for vacuuming only) - Mova Z5 Pro (for mopping only)(china only) Obviously this combo is pretty expensive
r/RobotVacuums • Wirecutter says don't get a robot vacuum-mop combo. Do you agree? ->Dyson 360 nav. Look at justadad YouTube channel for his reviews. It’s probably the best for vacuuming carpets, but does lack in other areas.
r/RobotVacuums • Robot Vacuum for carpet ->We have the Dyson 360 vis nav. It is a great vacuum but only a decent robot. It does good with our 3 dogs ( long, medium, and short hairs) and our two cats.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum for pet hair / high pile rugs / hardwood floors? (Vacuum only, not combo) I know it’s been asked before but answers seem inconclusive ->It’s a vacuum first and robot second. So it excels at vacuuming but its robot features are second rate when compared to roborock, dreame, and others. Its obstacle avoidance is subpar and lack of a lidar turret that holds it back for navigation. I love ours as it actually agitates the carpets/rugs and pulls embedded hair out too! It completes its Monday-Friday task around 90% of the time. But it lacks a spot clean feature that should be included for its price.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum for pet hair / high pile rugs / hardwood floors? (Vacuum only, not combo) I know it’s been asked before but answers seem inconclusive ->More like they are a salmon swimming against a current. Everyone else uses a lidar turret and it just works. Doesn’t matter it is the cheaper shark unit or a top of the line dreame lidar works. Dyson for some strange reason still wants to use vslam as the main navigation unit.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Vacuum for pet hair / high pile rugs / hardwood floors? (Vacuum only, not combo) I know it’s been asked before but answers seem inconclusive ->We really enjoy our Dyson 360 visnav. We also liked our shark powerdetect and they make a vacuum only model of it.
r/RobotVacuums • Vacuum only robot ->Maybe the Matic. It does t have a base station for auto empty but a large bag is stored inside the robot. Every bag comes with a built in hepa filter. We have the Dyson visnav and it’s great on hard floors but emptying the canister isn’t as contained like the Matic. Narwal Pro also has disposable bag with hepa filter.
r/RobotVacuums • Best Robot Vac for people with pet allergies? ->For vacuuming performance the Dyson visnav is top dog. We really enjoy ours. The only thing is, it doesn’t like metal floor registers. Once we replaced them with wood ones it hasn’t gotten stuck.
r/RobotVacuums • Medium pile carpet with dogs ->The Dyson 360 vis nav is great at vacuuming but is a subpar robot. Nothing will come close to its vacuuming performance on rugs/carpets.
r/RobotVacuums • Are there any robot vacuums that actually do a good job with medium-high pile rugs? ->Outlier here but the shark powerdetect is amazing on hard surfaces and they make a vacuum only model. Its pickup ability with cat litter is as good if not better than my Dyson vis nav.
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot vacuum to get: Dyson or Karcher or Roborock? ->Mopping most likely not. Vacuuming we enjoyed our shark powerdetect(can’t state enough how surprised I was with its hard floor performance) and our current Dyson visnav also does an exceptional job.
r/RobotVacuums • Is there a robot vacuum that can handle wide and deep grout? ->The Dyson visnav doesn’t have an auto empty base. due to its extra large brush roller it does help prevent hair wrapping. We really enjoy ours.
r/RobotVacuums • I need a vacuum with supreme de-tangle ->Wrong. Vacuumwars testing is actually not very good : to short runtime that is biased to multipass tech. Also robots with a slower speed / more unique driving pattern have just less passes over the polluted area. In addition vw did not even use automode were the robot slows down while detecting large amounts of dirt that also improves cleaning performance. Discussed here, were even a iRobot S9 is no match if you give the robots just 14 cleaning passes even with an unpropper stuff like birdsand. [https://youtu.be/rahVXYL7e\_8](https://youtu.be/rahVXYL7e_8) If you use certified testdust that emulates household dust its also not even close [https://youtu.be/raBVxedCf\_M](https://youtu.be/raBVxedCf_M) Overall vws dyson vis nav review is not very good i can tell you it was done in a hurry or with less interest, They did not even recognize that the robots also is using lidar (the wall sensor is a laserbeam like all other sensors on this unit) in addition. You could just read this at the bottom of the unit where it stated it is a class 1 laser product (confirmed by dyson).
r/RobotVacuums • Most of these robot vacuums don't cater for typical UK homes (fully carpeted and steps everywhere)? ->I own 2 and if you are looking for a unit that is able to actually vacuuming your floors it is the one to buy atm. The linked vacuumwars review is missleading for several reasons but one major issue is that he is not using the auto mode \[the unit detects dirt and slows down what improves the cleaning very much\] or not recognizing that the robot is actually using 1D-Lidar in addition to the camera and a floor tracker. and the carpet deep cleaning test is favouring irobot unints due to the way of testing \[especially the short amount of time is heavily biased to multipass tech like irobot has\] - detailed discussion about this here : [https://youtu.be/rahVXYL7e\_8](https://youtu.be/rahVXYL7e_8) How much stronger the unit is even with just hardfloors compared to highly hyped robots is showcased here [https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ](https://youtu.be/VVnX3uhBiTQ) I do my own testing using certified testdust with the units bought by myself. Negative so far : edge and corner navigation could be better \[that is why i still using some irobots s9s too\] and needs improvement - also the side actuator / side suction port is a good idea but needs more addiction with the next robot : a seperate isolated full suction port for edge and corner cleaning placed more in the front of the robot. Overall navigation is good \[especially since the latest firmware update\] but as always how good the navigation is working in your environment is something you have to test yourself - reviews alone are only giving one example of how it could work.
r/RobotVacuums • Has anyone purchased or tried Dyson's new Vis Nav Robot vac? ->You do not need to have it running on max. Auto mode is doing most of the time a better job since it also slows down while detecting more dust (the slowdown does not happen with max mode). Once in a while let it run it max mode for a specific room. An EOL option is the AEG RX 9.2 that according to my testing (my yt channel is linked in my profile) also beats a Dyson Vis Nav (but only with carpets) but i need to retest it with my latest test procedure (i am using certified test dust). Here you have one test how they outperform a s9 in a birdsand scenario ( [https://youtu.be/rahVXYL7e\_8](https://youtu.be/rahVXYL7e_8) ) and some more testing of the Vis Nav [https://youtu.be/raBVxedCf\_M](https://youtu.be/raBVxedCf_M)
r/RobotVacuums • Roomba s9+ vs ? for only carpet ->Dyson Vis Nav, AEG RX 9.2 \[sadly near EOL\] and maybe UPBET V10 if they develop a better mainbrush for carpets. Everything from Dreame, Roborock, or iRobot \[iRobot is an exception if you have very shortpile carpet. the s9 is still decent but EOL\] comes not even close to the performance. Source : my own testing using certified testdust \[the carpet test dust is very fine sand\] and bird sand. r/RobotVacuums • Best NON mop robot? ->I love my roborock (purchased about 4 years ago) so much that I bought one for my parents 2 years ago. Over the recent new year, I thought I'd treat myself to the Dyson vis nav (since I love the several other Dyson products that I own) but returned it after less than a month. It could only go for about 13 minutes on its maximum charge, and it would get lost and stuck in a way that even my 8+ year old Roomba didn't. That is, the 8-yr old Roomba navigation can somehow avoid getting stuck more than the $1,000 Dyson? The roborock app lets you run the device while you're away from home; the Dyson app can do that too, but its main function ended up being constantly alerting me every few minutes that the robot needs help. It's stuck. It's out of power. It can't find its way back to the base (and yes I put the additional panel to help it find its way back). If the battery is running out, why can't it auto-return to base when it realizes that it's running low, instead of simply conking out and dying in the middle of the floor? And the thing is? I would have happily put up with all of these annoyances if it truly picked up a ton more dust than others... And yet, as an experiment, after running it TWICE in my kid's carpeted room at max power (it took forever since it needed to recharge over and over again), I then ran the aforementioned 8 year old Roomba over it... and son of a gun, the Roomba still picked up a notable, non-trivial amount of dust. I mean look I live in a dusty area (hence the need for a robot vacuum in the first place) so I realize that perfection, dust-free living is a fantasy... but I'm not going to lie, I had VERY high hopes for my fancy, fussy, Dyson... and to see a relatively geriatric Roomba still picking up a lot after running the Dyson.... was a huge bummer. Now on to your mopping question (the Dyson doesn't have a mop, but my roborock does), I would consider splurging for the newer models that have actual rotating mop heads... (not sure what they are off the top of my head) -- the roborock "mop" is more of a "damp pad that gets dragged along the floor". A separate robot mop that I've had in the past that wasn't' terrific but was better than the "damp mop dragging" was the ilife shinebot, but I guess I was the only person happy with it as it seems to have been discontinued.
r/RobotVacuums • Which robot vacuum to get: Dyson or Karcher or Roborock? ->Great to run at the lowest settings but its navigation leaves a lot to be desired, especially at this price. It feels like Dyson slapped on a camera onto a normal Dyson vacuum.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum with no mop ->That’s Really disappointing. All of their R&D funds must have been spent on hair care products.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum with no mop ->To me, it feels as if they only focused on ‘reinventing’ the vacuum aspect of the term robot vacuum. I also believe the robotic vacuum's dust map and the extending side duct are not compelling selling points and much more of a gimmick. I’m also confused as to why it relies solely on vision-based navigation when its high-end competitors likely researched LDS SLAM and a hybrid approach. I agree with you on the price, it seems wildly unreasonable to me, considering it resembles a Dyson cordless vacuum with wheels and offers only a two-year warranty. Notably, there are only 20 reviews on Dyson's official Tmall page, without any information from Taobao about the number of purchasers, which is the norm if about a thousand or more buy it. I believe I would be better off with a regular Dyson vacuum. My guess as to why Dyson lags in navigation technology is because its research centers are not located in Shenzhen, China's Silicon Valley, unlike its competitors. As for iRobot, despite having an R&D center in Guangzhou, it’s definitely resting on its laurels. I’ll stand corrected if they release a robot that can climb stairs.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum with no mop ->Don’t expect the best carpet cleaning from robot vacuums. There are a few exceptions like the Dyson VisNav, the iRobot roomba S9+, and the Electrolux trilobite (which is as old as the organism it gets its name from).
r/Dreame_Tech • This is how bad the L20 is at the vacuuming carpets / rugs. ->Dyson Vis Nav is probably best for carpets due to high suction power and brush roller. Also have big debris container. But drawbacks are short battery life and probably navigation, but it's getting fixed. Also no mop. And roombas have full container sensor so they return when full.
r/RobotVacuums • Most of these robot vacuums don't cater for typical UK homes (fully carpeted and steps everywhere)? ->Roomba j9 (not the Combo one) or Dyson 360° VisNav (but it's reeeally expensive). They're both better than pretty much *everything* else, for what concerns vacuuming.
r/RobotVacuums • What’s the best vacuum only robot out there? ->It's because they are reusing the navigation from their previous gen. Despite the vacuum being as good as it is, both the camera and the software make it an even worse deal. Really like the machine but the price and other design gotchas make it a nope for me
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum with no mop ->they re-invent everything so, any small addition to the robot carries an absurd amount of costs, iirc they invest like $12M per week on R&D across all their products, which is a lot considering that they don't have \*that\* many products. I have mixed feelings about it, for one I love that it's the only vacuum that doesn't look like a clone of every robot out there, however, the lack of a base station and lidar navigation is a blunder imo. To their credit, I think their navigation isn't doing too bad compared to other vision-based solutions, it took irobot ages to get a stable solution and even today, their robots struggle from time to time.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum with no mop ->If you wait until black friday/holiday season, the visnav was discounted \~25% not that long ago. Just a heads up about dyson support, it's an absolute mess right now and not something you want to deal with, I ignored all the threads thinking it would be people over exaggerating things and.. nope, it's bad. Overall its a good vacuum, not the best robot. I'd consider getting one if vacuuming performance was my main concern.
r/RobotVacuums • What are the best robot vacuums with no mop feature? ->Vacuum wise, the dyson vis nav is the leader right now. Not the smartest or nicest features but the core product is as good as it gets today. Modern robot vac models focus on quantity of features over quality and people seem to like it, which is why flagship models have tons of features that you (or the robot) probably won't use. If you want something smarter but don't mind having worse vacuuming performance, then go for the roborock s7. I'd suggest the S8 if it wasn't because it has worse vacuuming performance than the previous model. I have a dreame and roborock and honestly can't tell that much of a difference between the two.
r/RobotVacuums • What are some of the Best Robot Vacuum Cleaners to buy - And why? ->I have one. I got a good deal on it like you (not quite as good, you beat me by $100). It's the best carpet cleaning robot vacuum. The navigation is terrible and requires lots of light because of the 360 eye camera design. Mine forgets where rooms are fairly often (especially if cloudy or the main lights aren't on) and it does get stuck often including under things like the treadmill or low furniture. The firmware updates have improved it dramatically in the last four or five months. If you accept its faults, you will be fine. If you want something hassle free, this product is not it. The AI is not as advanced as other products in its price category. Obviously, it doesn't mop. Don't let it suck up any cat poop or you will be in trouble.
r/RobotVacuums • Dyson 360 visnav - $499 @ Target ->There are other robot vacuums that outperform the S8 series, like the Dyson 360 Nav. Nothing compares to it. However, I'm with you on the Saros line. The Z70 (which is based off the Saros 10R) doesn't get close to my Robo S8 MaxV Ultra on carpet. There seems to be some sacrifices made in order to achieve the thinner body style (and in my case, accommodate the arm).
r/Roborock • When it comes to vacuuming rugs and carpets, I have not found anything that out performs the base model Roborock S8, including the Saros 10R ->In terms of raw vacuuming power, it wins hands down. However, it does still have navigation issues (while it has been substantially improved since release) because of the lack of lidar and is still frustrating to use (various reasons including the minimal functionality of the app itself).
r/Roborock • When it comes to vacuuming rugs and carpets, I have not found anything that out performs the base model Roborock S8, including the Saros 10R ->Dyson Nav360 after the latest update is a great vac only. Doesn’t get in all the corners but does a fantastic job on carpet and hard floor. Navigation is a bit behind others but it does alright. On sale now for $799.
r/RobotVacuums • Best robot vacuum without mop without station ->Got mine open box for 550$ shipped on ebay. Total steal compared to Roborock.
r/RobotVacuums • Has anyone purchased or tried Dyson's new Vis Nav Robot vac? ->If this is true I’d gladly buy one. I need a strong vacuum solution for my pet hair situation
r/RobotVacuums • Dog parents! What vacuum-only robot works GREAT for pet hair? ->What kind of dog do you have? We have a 62 lb Lab who seems to shed constantly. If I run the vacuum every day it’ll do the rug just fine. May leave 1-2 ropes. If I don’t run it every day, there will be more. The borders of the rug is where there are always ropes. I can run the robot twice and there will be ropes. I can run the Dyson then the robot and there will be ropes. I can pull the edges up, dyson under the rug, then Dyson the entire top of the rug and the robot runs—guess what I get along the edges? Ropes. Watching it carefully, the robot runs along the edge and there is a gap that it doesn’t have enough suction to pull a quarter ounce rope of dog hair. And when it passes by and the side brush pulls it under it’s a 50/50 chance for the robot to suck it up—on a hardwood floor or short nap rug. You can say what you want that Roomba has the best suction and if you look at Rtngs or vacuum wars they may in those particular test environments. However in real life my J8 is a fail in this use case. And if I run my 960 in the same area…no ropes. This is rug that’s about 3/8” and is light in weight. Roomba as the market leader should have a machine in their current lineup that has enough power to complete this mission. For a $500 machine to fail this is a design failure. I’d take it back to Costco but at a year, I’m not that type of person. I may buy a S9 but it’s not a great solution either as it’s no longer supported by Roomba, the J9 may or may not be suitable, the Dyson 360 would be worth a shot with its powerful vacuum but the navigation seems to still be a work in progress and for some reason, I’m hesitant to buy a roborock. I’d test them one by one but am not into tying up the capital. Roombas have been around for 23 years. For apologists to say they are still working the kinks out in the vacuum function, is a bit of a stretch at this point.
r/RobotVacuums • Dog parents! What vacuum-only robot works GREAT for pet hair? ->I have worked on an tested a Dyson 360. It must have been a very early model. It had so many navigation problems and kept getting stuck on things that the owner ended up returning it. Hopefully these problems have been resolved by now. However, it did do an impressive job of vacuuming. Because of other issues, I was never able to use my three room carpet test on it. It may very well be an excellent candidate to replace our aging S8s with. I appreciate the insight! Thank you!
r/Roborock • When it comes to vacuuming rugs and carpets, I have not found anything that out performs the base model Roborock S8, including the Saros 10R ->
