I gave it a day off yesterday. After taking a closer look today, it does feel a bit bulkier than most other machines. I did a quick test run: – The main roller brush isn’t great for homes with a lot of hair. – The side brush doesn’t retract, but it’s longer than a typical one. – The roller mop and self-cleaning features are decent, on par with other mainstream models on the market. – And yeah… it’s not exactly quiet. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it right now — it should be priced lower.

I have the Dyson spot scrub ai. It’s actually pretty decent; has some quirks that could most likely be fixed through updates. But it fills up the base station dust bin once every week. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats that shed a decent amount.

It’s called the Spot+Scrub Ai (yes they couldn’t properly capitalize AI). It is manufactured by Shenzhen Picea robotics co ltd and is based on the R2 platform which is what the iRobot roomba 705 combo max is based on too. The only thing Dyson put other than the color scheme is the cyclonic autoemptying base station. Not much hype around it because it's well known to be built by an ODM for dyson. Specifically it's made by Picea robotics on their r2 platform which is shared by a 3i model and the roomba 705 combo. There's almost no actual dyson hardware on it, and early reviews indicate the vacuuming performance is average at best and not anywhere near as good as the previous visnav.

It really is disappointing. They've proven they can make a high performance vacuuming robot. Building upon that while improving navigation and adding mopping would have been incredible. Instead it's a mostly off the shelf design with a bagless self empty dock. It doesn't have the suction, the brushing performance, or the filtration of the visnav.

But when it works, the vacuuming performance is incredible. That vacuuming hardware plus better nav and software would have been the right way to go.

I’ve been reviewing robot vacuums for about ten years and now do so for The Verge, which has a very strict ethics policy. We take no sponsorship of any kind and the brand has no ability to review our work ahead of publication. You know, journalism. We do receive review units, however I disagree with the sentiment that those are in any way “better” than what you buy in the store. I review them “in situ” in my home, testing them in a normal environment. I just published a review of the Dyson Spot and Scrub where I was able to get Dyson to tell me that it’s not their motor. (Something that was long rumored but never admitted). Happy to answer any questions. https://www.theverge.com/tech/921136/dyson-spot-scrub-ai-wet-dry-robot-vacuum-cleaner-review?view_token=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJpZCI6IjNDY0oydnh5RGMiLCJwIjoiL3RlY2gvOTIxMTM2L2R5c29uLXNwb3Qtc2NydWItYWktd2V0LWRyeS1yb2JvdC12YWN1dW0tY2xlYW5lci1yZXZpZXciLCJleHAiOjE3NzgwNjgxNDQsImlhdCI6MTc3NzYzNjE0NH0.emBixFbgPmIVHBzusMb-uwt_0UyQZPOhHv6Shhh7bkk&utm_medium=gift-link I also have three buying guides where my top picks are reviewed. https://www.theverge.com/22997597/best-robot-vacuum-cleaner https://www.theverge.com/tech/625409/best-robot-vacuum-mops https://www.theverge.com/23846479/best-budget-robot-vacuum-robot-mop

Hello all, I have it for few days and relatively happy with it. However it makes some dark marks on the floor. It cannot be the wheels because they are flash blue. I make the vacuum + cleaning together program. Do you know what it is and what I can try ? Thanks and take care, Raphaël

I just got the Dyson spot scrub AI and it’s marvelous, coming from a Roborock s8 max ultra (s7 maxv ultra before)
