We had the N8 for three years until it was dropped. Bought a cheaper version for ÂŁ130 and itâs not where near as good as the Ecovacs this n20 is also on Amazon at ÂŁ70 cheaper than the Plus version as a basic version and if youâve never had one before youâll be very impressed with that in itself. The âplusâ still needs something emptied at some point. Go for the basic.

I picked up an Ecovacs Deebot Neo 2 Plus from my local Aldi special for AU$379, which I think is the most I'd pay for a robot vacuum as I need only good vacuum performance on hard floor, and ok performance on carpet. The unit certainly does that and the auto emptying station works well with no dust left inside the robot's bin. Navigation works well and certainly better than my old Neato! Looking at various online comparisons, most mopping robots have clear drawbacks and performance issues, and costly.
I got a n20 pro plus, which is quite similar to this one. It gets the job done. Although for that price range, I canât expect more. It doesnât have the latest tech that can avoid stuff lying of the floor. So you have toys or slippers, it may drags it around. But I never saw it stucks on those, so probably not a big issue. One thing to note is the overhead clearance. Mine canât go to the under bed because the hanging frabic under the bed touches the head of the robot. So it completely ignored the bed đ
They do not have to be expensive and we just picked up a Ecovax Deebot N20 Pro Plus today with the Pro version winning ['best budget robovac' of 2024](https://vacuumwars.com/ecovacs-deebot-n20-plus-review/). It has exceeded our expectations with excellent vacuuming and mopping and then seeing it do both tasks at once was awesome. It's still early days but it makes me confused why I waited so long. Most will be able to be scheduled to vacuum every 2nd day and I think it is meaningful to get a mid-budget range for the first outing unless money is burning a hole in your pocket.
Ecovacs is also an option using https://github.com/bmartin5692/bumper, and shouldn't require modifying the vacuum itself. It's not listed as compatible on the page, but I have it working with a n20 plus
I got the ecovacs n20+ with the bagless emptying station and Iâm very happy with it
